should i give up my $160k/year wfh job and go to law school so i can start my own law firm specializing in harming corporations (personal injury) and the government (disability)?
>>
>should I quit my [overpaid comfy do nothing job] to do [something incredibly difficult]

yes

>something incredibly difficult
what part of what i said sounds difficult?
>>
>>62680928
very jewish scheme

>muh corporations
>muh government

you're only hurting people in the end. get over your weird obsession.

what do you do for a living?

objection: relevance

Nothing. Do it.

that's what i was thinking as well. i know all about the 'bimodal salary distribution' of lawyers. i make considerably more money than most people in my current line of work, so i would likely be successful in law.

I made this exact thread a year ago. I gave up on the idea when I realized law school needed letters of recommendation. Also it's a meme with bad pay unless you go biglaw and they mostly hire normies who did bachelor's then jd, not some tech fag who went back to school for no reason.
Anyway I still think about because I hate the system and could be one of those red pilled defense lawyers.

i'm also somewhat worried about this. i need to get 2-3 LORs but i'm not sure how i can do this, since i'm long removed from undergrad. i couldn't ask anyone at my job because i want to do a part time program and work -- and admitting to pursuing law school would look very bad for me at work.
>bad pay [...] biglaw
i have no interest in working for someone else long term. maybe 2-3 years at a small shitty boomer firm, just to learn the ropes w/r/t litigation, court procedure, etc.

you should definitely be able to graduate before ai outcompetes you at everything
>>
>>62680928
Im unironically at 160k too and it feels pretty good. I’m not leaving

max IQ to believe someone with a 7 figure PI claim is going to have it litigated by a chat bot?
>>
nah
take the guaranteed 160k
it'll take 1 year to study for LSAT/do pre-reqs and apply to school
3 years for schooling
now you have to pass the bar
and you won't be making under 200k for at least another 3 years while you get your feet wet
meanwhile you have student loans

you gave up a million dollars in that time span from your current job. maybe you might end up on the winning side if you plan to work 15+ years but why bother AI is going to take all our jobs. squeeze every penny you still can.
>>
>>62681656
i intend on doing part time while working full time.
>>
>>62681649
yes, and you will laugh at how we used to use humans to do that
>>
>>62681726
what do you do for a living?
>>
>>62681726
Even if that's the case we'll still use humans for negotiations, depositions and trials.
>>
Yes. Your comfy WFH job has no mote and will get eaten by AI pretty soon. Law has a mote.
>>
>>62680928
Hell no, the whole point of even studying is to land a job like that. I wouldn't be working at mcdonald's for years, spending my paycheck on pots, AIs, and even fucking alts if it weren't for that, I'd be fucking drawing

What's the best law niche? Patent lawyer?
>>
>>62682776
I heard it's pretty comfy to go into patent law. If you don't want to do litigation, you can just be a patent agent
>>
>>62682776
Probably trust law, you only deal with rich people. Maybe corporate finance and deal with bankruptcy proceedings.
>>
>>62680928
It’s a bad idea. Making it out your own as a lawyer is a meme - the field is obscenely oversaturated because of the sheer amounts of law grads pumped out every year.

In order to have any hope of a positive expected value in law (not guaranteed, we’ll get to that), you need to do all of:
1. Do extremely well in undergrad in a good program or have solid expertise in a unique or white collar field
2. Get a 170+ lsat score (higher if you did worse at (1))
3. Get accepted to a T14 law school, as a JD from anything below that is worth less than potty paper (with AI this will be T6 in a couple years)
4. Land an internship at a prestigious big law firm
5. Translate your internship experience to a full time offer at a prestige big law firm
6. Grind for 70+ hours a week for the next 4 years doing exhausting bullshit work
>break-even point of money/opportunity cost
7. Stay on partner track or go in-house at a comfier firm

This will take you a decade or more and you will probably wash out before it’s worth it. You seem pretty fucking stupid, so 99% chance if you do this you’ll be wagecucking in some shitty small boomer firm or gov office and realize you went into debt to do worse than you are right now.
