80k shares in Vanguard World Market ETF pays about $150k/yr in dividends and returns 10-20% cagr which is between $1.2MM-$2.4MM every year
>>
>A 1% price swing is $100k

that would be wild to watch

now imagine having $12m that is 20% in hard gold, and 80% in high quality government and corporate paper and then that 100k is your yearly salary for doing literally nothing except taking some risk

right exactly, you have some of the portfolio that keeps up with inflation at the very least, and then some that pays a little more than that. you can live off of it and re invest some every year. even in the worst case, it is possible to live off even $3m sitting in a savings account for the rest of your life.

It is at first, but like everything else, you get used to it. The zeros start to bleed away in your head.
