All major US frontier AI labs agree to AI slowdown,
As AIs are getting uber smart.
What would happen to semis?

Followed this guys posts.
"Semi stonk prices are decided by AI labs. AI labs are very powerful, and they can win. If they keep winning semis will have a big run. If they stall, semis will get raped much more than AI labs. If you want to hedge, keep investing in semis or hyperscalers but also buy a bit of insurance stocks. Insurance stocks aren't harmed from rate hikes. They earn more than banks when rates rise. AI investments will make rates rise. And AIs only ampify their abilities, not harm them. And they are also cheap now."

its understanding of the world will just be an aggregation of previously lived and collected human experiences. it will just be a really really good calculator/dictionary and a really bad Wikipedia. It will allow a complete retelling/subversion/rewritting of history through the lens of a trans 30 year old sanfrancisco millionaire

it will replace a lot of human janitor jobs like accounting but again it will be subverted to hide financial crime at high levels

Why did openai cancel their IPO?
>>
>>62685627
no, we have intellect and imagination ourselves, and logic allows us to discover hidden information that didn't exist before, and we have done a lot of that stuff already, and all that is getting fed into the ai too, and with powerful ai that process will only be accelerated. whether you guys grasp these concepts or not is irrelevant, it's here, we have built the mechanical philosopher, plato was right and we're finishing his project

We don't have to have the ipo conversation again do we?
IPO's are a universal net gain for businesses as theyre effective fundraising for investment capital. They are, for the last 30 years, a near universal net negative for early adopting goyim who get left holding a bag in a dying company 90% of the time.
The time horizon to make bank on an ipo is measured in decades, not years. /smg/ can't handle that kind of delayed gratification, and therefore it is saner to ignore ipo's entirely.

Ed Zitron is a literal autist, which means he’s usually right.
He does have a kind of spergy obsessive judgmental personality and sometimes can’t hold his tongue on the more socially awkward invasive thoughts.
(Kind of reminds me of some anons on here tbqh.)
However even if he’s correct about specific things he could still be missing the bigger picture.
He also seems to have an axe to grind and is currently pushing himself to the point of burnout.

That said,
His autism will probably carry him from flawless victory to flawless victory like you said, I’ve no doubt about that.
But everything has diminishing returns, even autism giving you superpowers. So keep in mind he won’t be 100% right about everything he says.

i have seen 2 vids of his that anon has posted and his points are not very good. he basically has 2 claims, that ai isn't very useful, and that ai isn't making very much money. the first one is absurd and i've already addressed it, and every day it gets more wrong. the second one has some merit but he lacks imagination. 20 years ago nobody thought google would be able to make a profit providing what looked like a free service, nobody thought amazon would be anything more than an online book store, obviously these companies aren't the same but the internet allows for global scaling and he's not factoring that in, he still does not understand it. he ignores the fact that governments will also be a major customer, and he's incredibly presumptuous thinking that global capital is retarded and has no idea how to allocate properly. he betrays his biases too when he talks about the companies themselves, calling them adult summer camps shoveling money into furnaces, he's filled with spite and jealousy and myopia and he's trying to make a buck off of skepticism cynycism and bitterness.

99% of companies aren't globally scaled. it's basically the mag 7 and the software sector, a phenomenon that's only about 20 years old. these companies have shown explosive growth with insane profit margins. they are not the same as wal mart and coca cola. he thinks the constraints of the old economy apply to these companies and doesn't understand their advantages or if he does he intentionally ignores them.

The market is a completely different beast now than it was in the late 90s. I don’t think a large crash like that will be allowed to happen in the current market. Not to say that we’ll never have corrections. But there’s way too much riding on it now. They’ll invent 50 new forms of QE before they let the market crash.

I mean the diapers are nice but they also own a bunch of stuff that will forever print money like tissue paper, paper towels, toilet paper, pads, bathroom soap

they just did a 48.7B deal to acquire Kenvue which makes Tylenol, Motrin, the Neutrogena line, lube, Listerine, Benadryl, sudafed, bandaids, neosporin etc... etc...

this company is wayyyy bigger than diapers friendo. its the largest position in my portfolio and I'm not even larping

they just paid their divvy and they spent 50 billion dollars to buy kenvue

Bullish.

black people get foodstamps somehow even when they have a household income of $100,000+. this article is just saying Bezos hires a lot of blacks.

extremely bullish and I think Sasha rogelberg would lower her tone when you accuse her of not supporting black employment
>>
>>62686025
they used to always say this about walmart too, but u know why these companies hire employees who qualify for foodstamps? because the democrats passed a tax break for companies that give jobs to people on food stamps! this is the kind of policy your lib ass voted for, enjoy.

>Employers who hire individuals receiving public assistance, including SNAP, may qualify for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) under federal law. This provides employers with a tax credit of up to $2,400 per eligible employee, incentivizing the hiring of individuals facing barriers to employment, such as those on welfare or food assistance.
>>
>>62686038
>this is the kind of policy your lib ass voted for, enjoy.
As opposed to the alternative of people being on food stamps with no jobs and no hiring ability.

You can read Dario's blog post on it. Taken at face value its basically more red tape and testing requirements for high end models which presumably would slow things down since they cant just rush out a "eh safe enough" model anymore. But who knows what that would look like in practice.

lots of variables.. depends on what you are holding and what your cost basis, time horizon and your own liquidity/needs IRL.

tldr. probably should get taking some profits if Monday is green. especially if its a company with substantial debt on its balance sheet

rate hike decision is Wednesday. buying before is gambling that warsh is going to cuck out. its possible but everyone seems to think we are getting 25bps and if we do its time to just nope the fuck out until the bottom in October like most years.

I wouldn't realize losses or freak the fuck out or whatever but if you are leveraged next week you are probably going to get your shit pushed.

Got a stock suggestion for you smiggers. It's an smg classic: SIGA Technologies. SIGA is trading around $3, down from $9 this time last year. SIGA spiked during the monkypox outbreaks because their smallpox antiviral TPOXX was thought to be effective for monkypox. Turns out it isn't. But SIGA's primary source of revenue are BARDA contracts. TPOXX is stockpiled by the US Government for the Strategic National Stockpile for smallpox defense. SIGA's existing BARDA contract (couple hundred million $, several tranches over several years) expired and a new BARDA contract is supposed to materialize in one of the coming quarters. As I understand it, the contract was expected already but there are bureaucratic holdups, position vacancies, etc. and the timeline is unclear. In any case, SIGA will go up big when the next BARDA contract is issued. The company has also paid special dividends the last couple years, the last one was $0.60/share which at $3 amounts to bout a 20% annual divvy. Of course it's possible they stop issuing special dividends if the BARDA contract remains in limbo, and also possible a BARDA contract never materializes. I doubt that outcome but it's possible.

Rate my portfolio
Over the last 5 years or so i invested most of my money into Precious Metals because i was afraid of the stock market shitting itself and potentially losing it all but now that ihave a solid foundation im thinking of putting money into stocks
I still want to play it conservative and i belive where in an AI fueled Bubble that pumps up most etfs like SnP 500 and such either directly with nvidia or inderictly with stuff like caterpillar rising because of AI datacenters construction so i put most money in what joe avarage spends his money on
Grocerys Cars etc
Majority of people cant afford a house so the indulge in small stuff like clothing or a small treat especially woman so 5% Is going into fashion or a small treat
H&M Dior Inditex Urban Outifters
They are all clothing and fashion companies that make a lot of money selling overpriced shit no one needs and have decent dividens

Another 5% is going into fastfood
Sysco Unilever Nestle greegs
Sysco is basically the entire fastfood industry they supply everyonme from Mcdonalds to kfc and even smaller restaurants so you cant avoid them
Same goes for nestle and unilver they are behind almost any product in the grocery store
Greegs is just there because its interesting it could be a good oprtunity if they ever expand into europe

Pharma is also vital since you need to live
10% are going into pharma
Novo Nordisc because of their Diabetes and obesety medication which is gonna be huge in the futre with obesetiy becoming more and more normalised
Astra Zenika Johnson Johnson Roche and Sanofi

Electronics and Consumer goods are gonna be 10% of my portfolio
Logitech they are a solid boring company making peripherals you dont even think about buying them
Hisense Xiamoi lenovo decently priced tech
HP they are in almost every office i worked at so they are almost sure to make a profit in the next few years
Western Digital but they are overpriced right now gonna buy them once the AI bubble begins to shrink a bit

Groce chains/Expenditrure
The avarage person spends 20% of his income into grocerys so im gonna invest that much
BIC they make small stuff like pens and lighters most people buy them without thinking about them twice but they make a decent profit and have solid dividens
Costco and walmart they are the biggest grocery stores in the biggest economy in the world and costco is expanding into more of the world

Car/car suplliers
Im also gonna put 20% into different car companies and suplliers
Micheling and bridgerstone are the biggest tire companies and have solid margins
You cant have a car without tires and they are the part most often changed so they are a good company to invest
Denso makes all the electronics of most cars so they are also a good company
Knorr Bremse they make breaks for cars trains and subways have good earnings and solid dividens
magna international are also vital in car suppliers for chasis
Fuyao glass for the windshilds they break and need to be replaced almost a perfect busines model

the rest goes into Gold just to be safe
So whats your insight?
I know nothing about stocks i just picked the companies that make a profit based on companiesmarketcap and called it a day after a 20 min websearch on them

Commentary from a Telegram that I follow:

>The only reason all the big AI CEOs are calling for a "slow down" in AI development are physical constraints in data center construction and the maintenance of LLMs which need an ever increasing number of MWh to keep operating.

>While they may cite cybersecurity as a reason, that hasn't stopped the development of LLMs until building data centers became impossible due to the price of raw materials (lack thereof) or opposition from the communities which were going to have to share local resources with the data centers.

>Dario Amodei and Sam Altman's calls for the slow down of AI development "coincide" with China restricting the export of rare earth metals necessary in data center construction, memory chip shortages, and a lack of energy production.

>Already 5% of the U.S' energy output is used to power existing data centers. The data center construction frenzy may lead to as much as 25% the U.S' energy production being used to power data centers LLMs rely on.

>With the price of diesel skyrocketing and the looming threat of shortages of other petrochemical products which are used in the construction of data centers and computer chips, the resources to maintain the AI boom just aren't available anymore so the AI companies need an excuse to scale back and the excuse they've decided on is the "AI doomsday" shtick to show how "responsible" Amodei and Altman are with their toys.
