Why don't Americans simply buy crude directly and distill it at home? This is all fairly simple fractional distillation and even if you don't do the fancy stuff that refineries do like "cracking", you should more or less still come out ahead if you sell the diesel and keep the gasoline for personal use and disposed of the rest in a sewer or a storm drain somewhere.Curious why more people aren't doing this considering the insane 3:2:1 crack spread of oil right now.
