Golds liquidity is good, on par with other instruments when its a contract or etf, so it always gets sold in a down turn or crisis. Its a good idea to have some but don't expect to 1:1 invert the market on the way down. The real reason to have it is when AI unwinds government receipts will fall to dangerous levels and they will print money. Nothing has the safe haven record of beating the resulting inflation that gold does, BTC is unproven and while I suspect it could be fine I am convinced I can buy it for cheaper in the crisis and that it as of today tracks QQQ too closely to hedge against it. While stocks and major indices will for a fact rise after rapid recovery due to inflation in nominal dollar terms I believe many will lag in real terms against inflation and against gold. Capital rotation out of tech will in a run it hot scenario be reflected in more modest gains relative to other sectors and I cannot be convinced this won't be a thorn in the side of BTC enough to buy it over more gold or equities in other sectors. More over if the treasury is smart they'll let the weakest links die before getting involved but may not have a choice if they are trying to contain bond yields.
