GMT for business travel, Datejust when I want something a little flashier. Where should I take my collection from here? Dress watch, diver, chronograph, something else? I'm currently looking at the JLC Reverso Duoface Tribute, the Bluesy, and some Vacheron options. Daytona is a little out of my comfort range for a new watch purchase. Does anyone here collect watches? As a hobby, for status, as an investment?

I was gonna buy a bluesy, I can afford but it hit me that at the time the price was like $18k, I just couldn’t justify buying a watch at that pricethat’s about it. maybe I revisit it one day but I probably won’t

A lot of countries customs agencies have resorted to hiring people with 20+ years of experience at authorized dealers due to the high volume of watches coming in, and even they have to pull most of the watches apart to find out if they are fake or not, because the quality of chinese fakes has shot through the roof over the past 5 years.So any time you see a rolex, AP or patek on somebody's wrist, you can assume it's a fake like 90% of the time. Most people are aware of this, which is why watches are no longer seen as a status flex

If you don't it can be easy to end up buying watches just to check boxes that you end up not really wearing. Make a list of what you're thinking about, try things on, see what looks good with your outfits and sit on the idea for a while. Eventually you'll know which ones were just a passing thought and which ones have a lasting imprint on you.

Your next should be something casual that isn't an obvious pick-me-i'm-wealthy signal. A plain Longines, a wire bar Nomos, or a nice Oris or Tissot. Those latter three especially if you want something that resembles vintage. No bracelet, a NATO strap in leather or nylon only. If you're looking at JLC and VC you probably consider those brands beneath you but honestly it's a piece of art and an expression of you and your choices make you seem like a douche.
