No one is hiring for entry level assistant bookkeeper positions, accounting offices wouldn't even let me be 'printer guy' so I dropped out of my master's program years ago.

Self-employed CPA here with 250-300 clients. No complaints thus far, you need to get it and go into practice for yourself if you want to make a lot of money.

Corporate accounting doesn't give a shit about your cert, and I was stuck reporting to people without one which was gayer. And then you have larger public accounting firms not Big4 and all the partners there want to sell out to PE.

If you go my route it sucks ass, but I have grown a lot more doing my own thing than I ever did working for someone else.
