It's because chinese parents use abusive manipulation tactics (unconsciously) in order to make them their own children feel like this "I'm not enough". So, imagine being a 12yo asian kid and getting a 91% grade. You bring that shit home and the first thing your father and mother do is they look at it and they say "91%? Why not 100%? How much did the neighbours kid get? He got a 100% didn't he?". Do you see what they're doing? They're basically teaching you that NOTHING is good enough, you are not good enough EXCEPT if you're 100% perfect. Now imagine they do this for literally your whole life and it gets implemented into your mind. The sentence of "I'm not good enough. I need to be perfect" gets implemented into your mind and your whole life is then literally suffering in order to prove that you are good enough. Guess what? You can't solve an internal problem with external solutions. No matter what kind of education you get, what kind of job you have, what kind of position you are in, no matter how much money or fame you have... That hole will never get filled with external things. The hole of "My mom and dad were never proud of me" doesn't get filled with money, it gets filled with the realization of "I'm proud of myself and I'm good enough. Mom and dad had their own opinion and that opinion doesn't define what and who I am and how I see myself. I don't need to be perfect in order to be good enough. I love myself and I am proud of myself. I AM GOOD ENOUGH." And that's how you grow out of that mentally ill mindset.
