>>62705575I work in higher education. Not an educator, but I have interviewed and hired student workers, and used to work phones and spoke with countless students and staff early on in my career. Students seem to be coming in with more and more work experience, but instead of them working, say, a food service job or something, it's them juggling numerous gigs.They'll be early to mid 20s with experience doing twitch streaming, website creation, etsy arts and crafts, commissions, remote phone service jobs, and so on. They'll often say they were on the job hunt for months or a year plus trying to find an actual main job or something that can help them gain experience for their chosen career. Many have also expressed interest in or had some things lined up to find opportunities out of the country.To me, it just screams that at least where I am (US) everything is turning into basic service jobs and gig work, which lines up with my belief that the traditional work expected of the average person is now reaching a point where it has left the nation or is getting efficient enough to not need that many people, leaving the rest to scavenge.
