Now if you're able to build/buy a place then you can stretch that $500 a little further but plan on never being able to sell it if it's a cheap POS. The best option is still somewhere in SEA but you even do this in Mexico esp if the dollar goes back to 25:1. I'd prob just go w/ Cambodia and buy a generator in case the power goes out and not even worry about a vehicle or get a scooter and get a job with an repair shop just to learn how to fix and maintain motos. There are workarounds like opening a company and buying the land through there but honestly you need a local on your side anyway to stop from getting scammed. They just passed a law to try and get rid of predatory real estate sales which should tell you how common they are.When I bought "my wife's" land in 2023 I didn't pay any extra tax, but had to sign an affidavit saying it's hers and not mine in any way. Obviously never put your whole net worth under another person's name.
