What do you believe was the biggest event in history that triggered the US's current economic decline? I'd say the US leaving the gold standard in 1971.

This might sound crazy to you, but the economy is the best its ever been. There has never been more wealth and more upward mobility. The main problem is technological progress has reduced the value of labor. The average person only has their labor to contribute. They are not smart enough to make valuable tech contributions even if they study and get a degree in the field. This is not an issue that can be solved with monetary policy.

But actually.

What is the economic decline you're speaking of? Stonks are at record highs, GDP is up, wages are at all time highs.

Inflation is at 3% now which is a little hot but not historically all that wild. If you exist as a retard zoom zoom whose entire economic experience is what you've been aware of while halfway lucid then maybe this seems bad.

Yes leaving the gold standard sucked and will bite us in the ass eventually and lead to our total collapse, but to describe anything as "the US's current economic decline" is kinda stupid.

Destroying the value of labor destroys the middle class. If you want to live in a pre-industrial rich/poor society then move to the third world instead of importing it here.

1965 immigration act. USA was over 80% White since its founding.

Getting a degree in tech does not matter when companies explicitly discriminate against American college grads in favor of Indians thoughbeit

Economics isn't a science. There's no real physical property/particle called the "economicon" to maximize.
There are 8 billion people who need a way to justify their existence in the economy. Africa will see 5 axis robots and data centers before a middle class at this pace.
I'm not a communist, but I think its clear that the world economy will become severed from the world's population somewhat soon, and a very large change will be necessary to re-allign everything. The economy is not good.

I remember when it became legal to own gold.

I'm just one guy but to me the biggest economic change was before and after 2008

That's about when we went from having job security and livable wages to being broke and getting laid off every couple months. That was when things changed. Covid accelerated the problems but 2008 is when most Americans flat out gave up on ever finding a job again.

Over the long haul going off gold and silver did more damage, but it was and still is extremely slow. The changes of 08 were sudden and catastrophic

Oh look another lazy white incel who cant get free money so he claims the streets made from gold dont exist

This. The 1965 Immigration Act ended the old "be smart and be healthy and be willing to work hard" immigration laws and turned us into an "import the third world" magnet.

Johnson's "Great Society" bullshit cemented the welfare system.

The election of 1960, which the Democrats stole through vote fraud, was the proximate cause for both of the above, electing JFK, who got assassinated in 1963 thus paving the way for Johnson to get into control. Residual sympathy let Johnson win the 1964 election and stay in power to enact his poisonous policies.

Nah. At least in tech, that started around 1998 when H-1B really started taking off.
