do you think there will be a recession at the time of the next yield inversion? we're getting close.
>>
it's like how global warming is always 12 years away, i swear i've been hearing about the inverted yield curve signaling a recession so many times by now it must be signaling not a recession at this point.

it's a reliable indicator, just like the rule of thumb that we generally see a recession every 10 years. the timing of the recession is the hard part.

If it's down to what I think, I think there's not gonna be a recession because the definition for what a recession is has been inflated so much that it will take a total collapse of the monetary system for the government to admit that there might be a recession. For example, in some ways the amount of people right now who can't find work is worse than it was during the Great Depression, but because of how the government counts unemployment the majority of those people don't count as unemployed for this or that reason.

I remember reading the FUD on /biz/ back in 2019 about a hypothetical imminent recession, with what was happening with WeWork and Deutsche Bank serving as the indicators. My take now is that covid was a convenient excuse to deploy various government stimuli to keep companies like that from collapsing like what happened in 2008 with GM, except without declaring a recession in the traditional sense.

i've never seen anyone with an IQ over 100 or an income over $100k/yr use the word "midwit."

>midwit rages at people calling him that
People over 130 iq use it all the time
