Buy 10Y Treasuries right now. When they rise to about 10%, sell.

Easy doubling of your money.

The value of treasuries decreases as the yield increases. I'm not sure if you should be handing out financial advice to people
>>
It depends how terrified you are for the next 2 years.

If you think stocks are going to drop 40%, then yes. If you think they might only drop 20% then no.

If one believes the efficient market hypothesis and one doesn't have insider information, the only thing one can do is buy and hold the market for as long as it takes.

/thread

I don't get how these retards don't understand that everything is naturally priced in by big institutions. If the 10yr is at 5%, that's where it's supposed to be, and everything is already priced in for a 5% rate. These retards think the yield goes to 5%, then everything will magically crash in two weeks BECAUSE of the 5% yield. Hey retards, the people driving it to a 5% yield in the first place already know what a 5% yield entails, which means they already priced that in too.

>muh FED REEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
The FED doesn't control shit except the overnight between commercial banks, which has NOTHING to do with the retail economy. If you see the 10yr yield going up, that means the big institutions think inflation and/or growth is also going up. If you see the 10yr yield going down, that means big institutions think inflation and/or growth is going down.

>muh S&P 500 is le overpriced!!!! Look at the PE compared to the 1900s REEEEEEEEE!!!!
Retards, we didn't really have computer tech and software companies in the 20th century. Nothing like what we have now. Today we have companies with very little overhead cost because the almost everything they do is software. You retards treat Nvidia the same way you treat Walmart, which is a company with 2 million employees and 11,000 stores. If you can't figure the difference, you deserve to stay retarded.
>>
>>62724951
Fucking retarded, dumb bitch.

Take your own advice and put EVERYTHING you have on that bet.
>>
>>62728478
How so?
>>
>>62728491
yields rise until they break the economy
this is simple mathematics
you cretin

This anon is correct. Nothing will happen.
Boomers need to store their money SOMEWHERE so their boomer pension funds would at least compete with Inflation.
That's where trillions of $ of boomer pension fund money will go.
>>
>>62728626
they said the same about real estate
and now its crashing

The US is currently living through a megabubble like pre-1989 Japan. It's attracting lots of retsrds to /biz/ who think they're geniuses by ignoring market fundamentals.

P/E ratios are not that stretched. Corporate profit as a percent of both GDP and as a percent of sales has been on a tear. If that mean reverts then we are in a bubble, but that's not a given like valuations soaring without profits would be.

guys its literally free money

>buy bonds at 5%
>if rate goes down you made profit, if rate goes up just double down
>buy bonds at 10%
its like martingale strat but rates cant go up infinitely so free money
>>
>>62728617
Wrong retard NOTHING WILL HAPPEN
>>
>>62729076
The rates go up on new bonds. The bond you own has the rate that it has when you bought it.
>>
>>62724937

Pick 3, all these have different utility
>>
>>62728626
There needs to be willing buyers of treasuries to make dollars mean anything of value. Yields blowing out indicates willing buyers are drying up.Boomers also live rent free in your mind.
>>
>>62729358
nigga you retarded as fuck
the price you sell the bond for (present value) goes up and down based on the yield...thats how the yield is calculated

they dont have an intrinsic yield, they dont pay dividends they just trade at a discount vs the future value which is fixed. return on bond yields is set by the discounted present val...ahh fuck forget it nevermind
>>
>>62728491
based unhinged meth head
>>
>>62725010
Beautiful ironic post
>>
>>62729417
No, it doesn't mean that. It means there are more lucrative bonds elsewhere, i.e. Tech Corp bonds. That means the treasury has to offer more for each bond. That also means older bonds with lower yields get sold, raising their yield.

>>62729358
You mean the coupon is fixed. The yield is not.
