How dangerous is it to park my short term savings by buying SGOV instead of parking the money in an fdic-backed HYSA? It's just more convenient to use an account with Fidelity to hold SGOV because I already use it for my job's 401k and my Roth IRA. And if you're chasing a competitive HYSA interest rate you need to open an account with some random bank increasing the amount of institutions & different apps you gotta deal with.
>>62729110It's arguably safer as fdic insurance could take forever to pay out.
>>62729110no one on this board has ever heard of your shittokens
>>62729507oh no, he's retarded
>>62729110>>62729190About the same under FDIC limits, outright safer over FDIC limits. SIPC instead of FDIC, and your brokerage is less likely to fail in a way that hits personal assets than your bank. If the feds don't pay out their bonds your bank will probably fail too.SGOV is simply better than an HYSA. In the long term there is some risk the government bans the product: as more and more people park their uninvested cash in short duration treasury ETFs instead of supporting bank lending or buying long duration treasuries that's a policy problem for the federal government. Until then however it's just better tech.
>>62729511yea im the retarded one lmao. i cant wait for your immigrant run gambling to crash.
>>62729585If you haven't heard of SGOV, it's an ETF holding short duration US government obligations, not crypto. If you have and are calling fiat dollars a shitcoin, no argument here, but as long as my landlord accepts said shitcoin for rent and the grocery store for food need to have some reserves.
