Why do engineers at big tech make so much money? An IC4 (around 2 years experience) at meta makes like 200k.For comparison, thats roughly equivalent to average total comp for a big box store manager. Now I know the answer is going to be "supply and demand" but I am fairly certain that there are 100x people with the capability to do IC4 work at meta than the ability to run a big box store.

>>62731224Zuckerberg is still the founder, and founders understand the gervais principleThe gervais principle states that as a company ages, inevitably, only sociopaths rise through the ranks leaving a trail of losers in their wake. These losers do the absolute bare minimum if not well compensated. Thus, to raise the floor amount of work put in, they compensate the losers well.Once the founders leave and private equity takes over, the incentives change. The private equity CEO no longer cares about long term success, and starts cutting the salaries of losers, the bottom falls out, and the company eventually goes into a death spiralThe only exceptions to this are banks, which are rich boys club designed to bail out rich families like the rockefellers with central banking and not actually designed to do anything else besides run that scamor luxury brands, which are like the retarded cousin of central banks in metaphorical sense, except it's a rich womens club and the currency is social currency
> there are 100x people with the capability to do IC4 work at meta than the ability to run a big box store.Press X to doubt. Pretty sure anyone IC4 level could retrain to manage a big box store, but most big box store managers could never do even IC1 work.
>>62731339You’re wrong too lolIt’s not the skill set it’s the demand, there is more demand for software then the box store manager, there is only like 20k big box stores to manage in all of america
