Why cant I fucking fall asleep on my back? Ive been trying for multiple hours every night for 2 years to either fall asleep on my back or find a side sleeping postion that doesnt make ym arms ache and go numb within 5 minuets. Im dying over here. Im about to lose my job cuz I just cant work. Back sleeping in the only position that doesnt hurt but I cant fall asleep on it no matter how hard I try. Even with 3 mg xanax I couldnt fall asleep on my back. My face/jaw wont stop clenching.
>inb4 put pillows in between my body part or get a new bedI tried every fucking position
I hate back sleeping, I do tummy sleeping
>>62733799damn nigga how have you survivedif i had 6 figs i would buy a really nice bed. like $10k. maybe an outrageously expensive mattress is worth it if the sleep is great.
>>62733799Take a few grams of Glycine.
>>62733839What does it do?
>>62733799anon, do you exercise? I would say go squat heavy or walk 20k steps in a day and report back the next morning. >no matter how hard I trystop trying. just lay on what is comfiest.>about to lose my jobI bet you sleep better the day you do.
>>62733799Get a soft memory foam mattress topper, it stopped my arms from hurting
>>62733967Yes I do and that's the problem, my arms got to big. How is squatting supposed to help my arms going numb? I do zecher squat>>62733975Did that and it made my hips hurt. Forgot to mention I have scolosis.. no combo of pillows is pain free for me
>>62733799face/jaw clenching is due to systemic stress and has nothing to do with the mattress, your posture, or whatever else- do TRE (trauma release exercise) to ease the physical tension- plenty of salt is needed to regulate hormones and stress, aim for at least 3g per day with 3g of potassium and some magnesium- don't starve yourself, have milk or something light and tasty before bedthose are just the basics, glycine is good like the other anon said. The important thing is increasing your energy capacity and reducing stress.>Forgot to mention I have scolosis.. no combo of pillows is pain free for mescoliosis doesn't cause pain, read Dr. John Sarno or you can see some of his stuff on youtube
>>62733799>>62733805if your arms go number just from sleeping then there are other issuesit could be something to do with my diettry changing thateat less fat, eat less fast food, try going vegan, eat more fiber or something like that
>>62734021Why are you assuming he lacks sodium when 99% of people gets way more than they need from their diet?
>>62733799The sleeping meta for me is sleep on back, then sometime in middle of night i rotate to my left side but I use two pillows to keep neck aligned properly. Near end of sleep I might go to stomach for a bit. I have a very firm bed so by rotating around different positions i put pressure on different points of my body and get a massage in a way
>>62734551>99% of people gets way more than they need from their diet?based on what? most "excess" sodium issues come from lack of potassium and propaganda from pharma companies to sell their BP meds. Then again I'm assuming OP isn't a fat fuck.>A 2014 study in the New England Journal of Medicinefollowed more than 100,000 people in 17 countries for more than threeyears. The study found that those who consumed less than 3,000mg of salt perday had a 27-percent-greater chance of death from a major cardiovascularevent. The study found those who consumed an estimated 3,000–6,000mg ofsalt/day had the lowest level of death and cardiovascular events.https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8032061/
the actual study: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1311889?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fmore>When sodium intake is restricted, there is a sharp increase in serotonin secretion. This accounts for some of the anti-inflammatory and diuretic effects of increased sodium consumption--increasing sodium lowers both serotonin and adrenalin.>Increased salt in the diet appears to improve some aspects of calcium metabolism, such as reducing parathyroid hormone and increasing ionized calcium, when the diet is deficient in calcium (Tordoff, 1997).>The kidneys can produce large amounts of carbon dioxide and ammonia, in the process of preventing the loss of electrolytes, while allowing acid to be lost in the urine. The ammonia is produced by the breakdown of protein. During stress or fasting, the loss of tissue protein can be minimized by supplementing the minerals, potassium, sodium, magnesium, and calcium. Salt restriction can cause aldosterone to increase, and excess aldosterone causes potassium loss, and increases the use of protein to form ammonia (Norby, et al., 1976; Snart and Taylor, 1978; Welbourne and Francoeur, 1977).>Aldosterone secretion increases during the night, and its rise is greater in depressed and stressed people. It inhibits energy metabolism, increases insulin resistance, and increases the formation of proinflammatory substances in fat cells (Kraus, et al., 2005). During aging, salt restriction can produce an exaggerated nocturnal rise in aldosterone.
>Salt restriction, according to a review of about 100 studies (Alderman, 2004), lowers the blood pressure a few points. But that generally doesn’t relate to better health. In one study (3000 people, 4 years), there was a clear increase in mortality in the individuals who ate less salt. An extra few grams of salt per day was associated with a 36% reduction in “coronary events” (Alderman, et al., 1995). Another study (more than 11,000 people, 22 years) also showed an inverse relation between salt intake and mortality (Alderman, et al., 1997).>It has been known for many years that decreasing sodium intake causes the body to respond adaptively, increasing the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). The activation of this system is recognized as a factor in hypertension, kidney disease, heart failure, fibrosis of the heart, and other problems. Sodium restriction also increases serotonin, activity of the sympathetic nervous system, and plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1 (PAI-1), which contributes to the accumulation of clots and is associated with breast and prostate cancer. The sympathetic nervous system becomes hyperactive in preeclampsia (Metsaars, et al., 2006).>The increase of adrenalin caused by salt restriction has many harmful effects, including insomnia. Many old people have noticed that a low sodium diet disturbs their sleep, and that eating their usual amount of salt restores their ability to sleep. The activity of the sympathetic nervous system increases with aging, so salt restriction is exacerbating one of the basic problems of aging. Chronically increased activity of the sympathetic (adrenergic) nervous system contributes to capillary leakage, insulin resistance (with increased free fatty acids in the blood), and degenerative changes in the brain (Griffith and Sutin, 1996).
>Aldosterone causes cells to take up sodium, while increasing their pH, i.e., raising their alkalinity (Mihailidou and Funder, 2005). Intracellular sodium has long been known to be a factor, along with swelling and alkalinity, in stimulating cell division (Cone and Tongier, 1971). A lack of salt stimulates the formation of serotonin, which in turn stimulates aldosterone synthesis--that is, a sodium restricted diet activates processes that cause cells to take up sodium inappropriately, in a situation reminiscent of the calcium deficient diet causing inappropriate calcification.>Other protective effects of increased sodium are that it improves immunity (Junger, et al., 1994), reduces vascular leakiness, and alleviates inflammation (Cara, et al., 1988). All of these effects would tend to protect against the degenerative diseases, including tumors, atherosclerosis, and Alzheimer’s disease. The RAA system appears to be crucially involved in all kinds of sickness and degeneration, but the protective effects of sodium are more basic than just helping to prevent activation of that system.>When mice are chilled, they spontaneously prefer slightly salty water, rather than fresh, and it increases their heat production (Dejima, et al., 1996). When rats are given 0.9 per cent sodium chloride solution with their regular food, their heat production increases, and their body fat, including abdominal fat, decreases (Bryant, et al., 1984). These responses to increased dietary sodium are immediate. Part of the effect of sodium involves regulatory processes in the brain, which are sensitive to the ratio between sodium and calcium. Decreasing sodium, or increasing calcium, causes the body’s metabolism to shift away from thermogenesis and accelerated respiration.
Also, do you have shit posture?Forward head?Kyphosis?Recessed jaw?Underdeveloped mandible? Your throat probably closes up when it fully relaxes while on your back, your body won't let you sleep like that.
>>62733799Fuck yo woman If you have no woman, have a wank
>>62733799How about you get some exercise and build some muscles, fatso
>>62733817Face in the pillow? Doesn't that make you feel like you're suffocating?
>>62734843You can't build muscles without proper sleep.
>>62733799Untreated sleep apnea resident here. Experimental idea, have you tried stacking soft items on your back as to lay on them at a 45° angle that shit might ease you into more natural positions or help you figure out YOUR perfect sleep posture that alligns with what you need not want but need ? I too get the numb arm thing from time to time, ill be honest my solution is one of them long flat square looking pillows that i fold in half, angling them sort of like stairs and lay my head in a way that me breathing out my nostrills hits my right arms bicep, also my right arm is just extended out fully away from me all the time when i sleep, been doing that shit for 2 years now and it works like a champ. Ima be honest part of the reason i can sleep as well as i do is because i bust a nut every night right before sleeping, shit puts my ass to sleep like no melatonin ever could. Also im not going to cap, i been having bruxism for a solid minute now years actually and i noticed that my sleep quality severeley depends on whether i was able to sort of let go, essentially letting my fear burn the object or inside love it was threatening and realizing the shadows aint got no say or not prior to sleepinf. Also i got a mouth guard made by my dentist and booooooooy that shit makes sleeping so fucking good, i dont gotta worry about nothin. Btw you should definetly check out astrology as in what sun moon and rising sign you are, my chart has given me a scarilly accurate rundown on shit i have been beefing with all my life and shit was in no way shape or form vague, certain types of people will deal with certain type of shit. That being said you could potentially have wrecked your nerves to the point of over extention, i recommend taking some Ashwaghanda and St. Johns wort supplement you know the little pills you can get anywhere, shit will put artificially induced hype at ease and regulate some hormonal stuff neat and tidy for you. Hope i could help, blessings to you cuz
>>62734904Lifting some weights would definitely build enough muscles in your shoulders, regardles of sleep. That would relieve the pain bigly.
>>62733799If you smoke weed, stop. Wait two weeks to get back to normal, then you'll be able to sleep.Don't eat at least 2 hours before sleep.Work out as anons said before. What's the temperature in your bedroom? Should be under 23°C for sleep.Other things you can try:>ashwagandha - helps my mom who has fucked up back>weighted blankets that help autists sleep peacefully>check your mineral levels, you might be very low on magnesium or zinc>either no pillow or a very thin pillow - this makes a massive fucking difference for me if I want to sleep on my back>breathing excersises, specifically focusing on how you breathe (into chest vs into stomach)
>>62733967exercise makes it worse for me. especially heavy compound lifts like deadlift. i think i have some kind of nerve problems because i am so exhausted and cant keep my eyes open but i cannot fall asleep
>>62733799>Business & Finance>Why cant I fucking fall asleep on my back?Apparently it's because you can't identify what board-appropriate discussions are.Anyway, try getting an air mattress. I've found them to be far more comfortable than any conventional mattress. Don't buy from Wal-Mart, their products fucking suck and already have leaks when factory-new in the original packaging.
