Today everybody talks about the AI bubble, but did investors see the train wreck coming back then too? Can it be a bubble if everybody is aware of it?
>we are at a wonderful ball...
>>62734384>Can it be a bubble if everyone is aware of it.Yes but everyone is a fluid term. You'll always have turbo bears that predicted 9 of the last 3 crashes but when they are right or appropriately early support for the bear thesis grows such that we pretend we always knew. Just before the dam breqks people are aware somethings off but chase money while it is to be had. The little catalysts, like fuel spiking in 08 leading to a decrease in volume in large vehicle sales, are only blips on the radar that don't get much historical review but its little events like this that cause the dam to burst and they come out of nowhere except to a hyper niche group of people familiar with the catalyst but maybe not the full economic effects. People can know that assets, stocks, housing, whatever; are overvalued but until something breaks that can't be fixed by quiet financial engineering, they'll keep buying. This is worse so in a highly inflationary environment when holding assets, even raw commodities are always going to win barring a serious drop in economic activity. People know AI companies aren't profitable but so long as the hope remains and nothing breaks corrections will be short term like today's was. I have heard of some rich people taking profits so that's an indicator but they and I know the government cannot survive a sustained down market because they run out of money. There will be a correction but it won't play out as anyone suggests.
