>>62735345Worked for basically minimum wage at a Market Basket (cheapish grocery store with ancient aesthetics and gay uniforms) during high school. Absolutely soul killing experience. In the decade and a half following I've done many other things, from prison guard to warehouse work to masonry to ski lift captain... nothing was anywhere near as miserable.I get flashbacks every time I walk into one of their stores. They're still exactly the same. And absolutely blitzed by the elderly at all hours, pretty sure they bus retirement homes there so they can stand in the middle of the goddamn narrow-as-shit aisles gaping like goldfish at the goldfish crackers.

He was a good guy but he didn't know anything about cooking or managing a restaurant and he micromanaged every single worker nonstop all day every day. It was ridiculous having some corporate director trying to teach professional cooks and managers stuff he didn't even begin to understand. I stuck around to watch the shitshow but he went broke in less than a year.

Quickly just became 100% landscaping for shit pay, got fired on the spot when trying to negotiate a better balance of duty. I had worse paying jobs but that one was by far the worst pay to labor ratio. I do beer delivery now and the pay keeps me satisfied.

working at a hostel for stay>4 hours for 1 night stayworst task was cleaning the communal showers. hosing jizzum off the walls and picking up discarded condoms, Wiping down the toilets etc. if you been to a hostel im sure you know or can imagine. After a few days of cleaning the toilets, enough of the regular guest will see you working and their attitude changes. you become the hired help and they no longer speak to you or are friendly. My Karaoke Nite buddies sure disappeared quick. This was in a ski town during the season. I came to hit the slopes and thought this job I happened upon was a killer deal and a way to make friends. It really showed me the true class divide. All these rich kids pay for the backpack experience. I was part of the club until they see you working. Then I put on my Ski hill costume and joined them, fit right in.
