Today, my friend was talking to a group of people at the gym. He started listing economic statistics and asking why everyone was at the gym instead of working. They explained that their classes were finished for the day or that they had the day off.My friend told the students that if they were still in school, they should definitely be working, because the economy is terrible and they probably don’t want to wake up at 30 and realize they’re working full-time. He told the other that if they were available to hang out at the gym during the day, that probably meant they didn’t have some high-paying white-collar 9-to-5 job and were likely just making wages. One guy asked him, “Why are you telling people they have no future?”My friend responded that he wasn’t telling anyone they had no future. He was merely presenting economic data and statistics. Then the guy said something along the lines of, “People today are living a lot better than someone 50 years ago.”My friend argued that people working back then were actually working toward a great future. The guy responded, “People have always had to work. People today are working toward a future too.”“No. People working today are getting royally screwed. There has been basically zero wage growth since 2020 while rich people have doubled their money. Meanwhile, everything is getting more expensive.”The guy responded, “Yeah, well, not everyone has the opportunity to get rich.”My friend said that since the end of World War II, there have essentially been endless opportunities for every family to make money and build wealth. If someone isn’t successful today, maybe their family is simply low IQ.Was my friend completely out of his mind, or is there actually something to his argument? Are people today genuinely getting screwed economically, or are we just romanticizing the past?

Yeah, consumer confidence has been on a decline. The K shaped economy is alive and well.
>>62759046sorry, Im not going to read all of that.
Your friend self-owned his own point in that conversation. If people working today are getting royally screwed, then it's no wonder people are finding better things to do with their nigh-worthless time than working for shit wages toward no future. I think your friend is retarded in a genuine low-IQ kind of way, not the "you're a retard!" kind of way.
>>62759218They should be doing something better with their time.
>>62759046Your friend doesn't exist, but if he did you should tell him to stop bothering strangers at the gym
