How much would you spend on a home?

I would spend more on the land than the home itself. I want a small house on large acreage that I can make use of (ie. Not some barren plot of land in the desert). But to answer your question I would probably go with $100k-$150k max. I don’t know what that would get these days but right when Covid started, or just before, you could get good property with that budget

200-250k for a small 50m2 apartment but thats assuming I have excess money lying around. I would rather have that money tied in stocks desu.

enjoy your ted kaczynski cabin on 1/2 an acre cuz thats all you can buy for $150k these days.

I figured that would be the case. I was seriously considering buying land back then and there were some really good deals. I liked Kentucky/Tennessee the most but I got stuck in the shithole that I’m at and I can’t even imagine what those same properties are going for now

*just* land on arable plots will run you a few thousands per acre. If there's any development whatsoever (water, gas, sewer), even if it is currently unserviced, knocks those values higher

I don't think you've internalized that we've printed at least 50% of all the USD that has ever existed in the last 6 years

I dunno the idea of a barnhouse seems pretty dope to me.
