>BREAKING: Top executives at Anthropic, OpenAI and other AI companies are privately gaming out scenarios for a public and political revolt after a catastrophic AI event, and they assume one in 2027, per Axios

I did some digging. These companies think the internet, power grid, and water supply in most countries are fucked in the next 6 to 12 months and they're wargaming for civil unrest that could lead to AI researchers getting killed en masse. I wish I were joking.
>>

I don't think they mean AI will take over the world in 2027. What most likely they mean is:
a) AI integrated into something important like power plant fucks up and causes a lot of damage
b) job insecurity and unemployment reaches a happening threshold
c) AI data centers cause some massive wildlife damage

followed by mass protests and full BLM property damage and looting
>>

Pretty sure they're more thinking of something like Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, and every other shitass SAAS company basically going tits-up by as early as year's end because of vibe-clones.

It does not matter if it's profitable. If they can't hold up the economic output of society, it collapses. They chose to put their text-generation companies in this position, and now they reap the rewards.

It means that the average person is going to be spending even more on basic goods and necessities which will create a cascading demand destruction event in a lot of the economy going into a season that retail desperately needs to have good numbers in. If retail shits the bed, the market will also begin to slide as well. Job reports will be shit due to retail not having a surge of hiring.

>It means that the average person is going to be spending even more on basic goods and necessities

Why do you believe we will have shortages of goods in other areas. Is it because you believe that LLM crap has been a massive malinvestment that has starved other areas?
>>
It's a financial event and it's their companies and other tech giants tanking -90% because of open weight models and reverse engineered programs like the adobe suit. Short them directly after their IPO.
>>
>>62770127
The reverse engineering stuff is super interesting. It would be funny to see some of these large companies go tits up. Horrible for the workers yes. But the owners getting shit pushed into their faces would be nice to see.
>>
>>62770126
The shortage is in the average consumer's wage growth in relation to basic goods and services. Demand destruction occurs when consumers simply have less disposable income.
>>
>>62770139
>Demand destruction occurs when consumers simply have less disposable income

What happens to prices?

>>
>>62770149
Over a long enough period of time prices will have to come down but the market's going to shit itself before that, it simply has to in order for consumers to regain purchasing power.
>>
>>62770187
Aren't prices going down good for consumers?

>>
>>62770324
My stocks? Sorry that you put your money on the wrong horse...
>>
>>62770324
>The prices are only going to go down because consumers can't afford them
There's the kicker
Prices would go up if the Government invests instead. which is what most industries are pivoting toward, now: Get the government to instead tax hike and pay for it since proles don't have shit to spend.
>>
Given how pathetic the backlash to relentless immigration has been by normies I don't even think they would ever do anything and would just take AI decimating the job market right up the ass.
>>
>>62770332
If the central planners determine where demand is. Isn't that socialism?
>>
>>62770372
Only for AI companies. The rest of the economy gets fucked, apparently.
>>
>>62770474
Lel
>>
>>62770474
>more bottom up or more top down...
>>
>>62770474
Yep, end result is prices for basic goods eventually will go down, but the standard of living is going to tank for a lot as they will have a huge chunk of their income locked up into basic needs to the point that they will no longer have that extra cash to drive consumerism. Even AI won't be immune, the biggest hurdle AI has right now is getting normies to pay for it.
>>
>>62770509
You're so right. If the price of something goes down. It means less people can afford it. We need the prices of everything to go up. That means everyone can afford it.
>>
>>62770517
And if people don't have the money we call that demand destruction, forcing prices to go down. Consumers aren't an endless money printer, that's the government.
>>
>>62770521
Well I agree with you there.
>>
>>62770509
>eventually
Eventually is a strong word. If you have one economy that is commanded by one industry, there is nothing stopping them from keeping the prices of everything high while also expanding into those areas like food (AI Datacenters have a strong case for buying ethanol) or land (see above). They could keep the price of basic goods beyond most people's reach for generations

This was the doomsday scenario spoken of after the 2008 crash when the banks were bailed out. If industries can just get do-overs, why wouldn't they also just absorb cheap parts of the economy before the prices fall? This, thankfully, didn't happen because there were some stiff stipulations on the banks preventing a depression, Tech companies have no such thing. There was just a meeting just a week ago about how the Government isn't going to do shit to stop them. We still haven't recovered from the lockdowns and we're going through this.

>>
>>62772805
I actually literally stopped prepping when I learned you can drink your urine to sustain you for a very long time. Your urine is the most distilled water in the universe. Your kidneys are the most efficient filter in the universe.

You will hear stories from time to time where like people stranded at sea or hikers or people exploring caves get trapped and like everyone dies except for the dude who drank his urine for 13 days until rescue teams found them. And the guy is totally healthy and doesn’t even need to go the hospital.
