luddites be like
>nooooo I want to spend my time doing useless shit instead of something I enjoy
>>
gooning to ai porn isn't for the faint of heart, I'll give you that glowbot
>>
>>62769740
If anything the last 50 years have shown that 'something I enjoy' turns out to be the most worthless soulless shit imaginable. These days the Luddites are winning by literally just living, see the Amish. Still can't defend yours with sticks against machineguns and robots, so here we are.
>>
I'm sympathetic of skills lost to societal changes. Must've been cool to live in a family that wore furs from the food they hunted once upon a time. And I'm sure people will still appreciate coding by hand and the like. But yes mostly ai eliminates repetitive shit that takes ages that is not really appreciable in any way. It just wastes time. I've always wondered what life would be like if we basically had to do what I wanted rather than needed to do to survive.
>>
>>62769740
it's more like
>maybe if i make a big stink about this someone will give me donations or pity business or welfare
i still think it's kind of pathetic, because they wouldn't be in this position if they took AI seriously a few years ago, ie. invested in it.
>>
>>62769770
all time is wasted given a long enough time horizon and the perspectives to see what wasn't done
>>
>>62769786
Someday robots will be able to do anything you don't want to do and be able to procure anything. Work won't be needed anymore. I'm interested to see what humans will do when their time use isn't governed by the need to do things they don't want to do.
>>

>>62769746
maybe yall just depraved. Try hiking or rafting.
>>
>>62769740
/biz/ has really disappointed me. Mentioned AI n /smg/ and they all started shitting bricks. Their reaction was so hostile. It really felt like I was on reddit or devianart. I am surrounded by dumb people. Sad.
>>
>>62769788
there's already people like that. it's not that fun, beats working a shit job though. the happiest ones are the ones that have something to work towards and enjoy the process
>>
>>62769788
Get as fat, lazy, and stupid as they can.
The unemployed now aren't exactly revolutionary scholars and inventors.
>>
>>62769791
it will be quite different if life as you know it is no longer governed by so many needs. also life would theoretically be much safer. you could go on a midnight stroll through what was once the ghetto and have zero concern robot police protect you from virtually all crime
>>
>>62769740
Depends. If your version of "something I enjoy" is just passively consooming whatever new slop comes out, you are dangerously close to being goycattle. The hedonistic treadmill won't make you happy which would imo be the ultimate goal.
Uncle ted was right insofar as there needs to be some kind of struggle in your life. If you can't get that through intrinsic desire (eg. "I want to learn/create x") you can find it by deliberately restricting yourself. Which is different from being a luddite in that is an active choice and not a way of life motivated by fear or rejection of technology
>>
>>62769789
I was implying most people prefer spending time irl not in the digital world of depression and that OP is a faggot
>>
>>62769794
>utopic musings of police bots
psychosis got this one good
>>
>>62769801
Why can't we ever think these things will be to our benefit rather than detriment? Why is the first assumption always doom? I'm not a doomer.
>>
>>62769790
since you're posting at 3am EST I guess you tried to talk to euro/smg. don't be surprised, they are the most miserable ignorant hateful and permanently poor (mentally and financially) people on this site. If you're awake 10am-8pm EST is decent with just a handful of new guys lately still learning, good time to tune in to see how those guys try to fit in. They're luddites too, aggressive and stupid also, but are American so know that they need to work hard to learn stuff if they want to get better at stuff and grow and succeed and shit. Europeans generally don't understand or do this. They prefer to only whine and complain, it's all they need to do at home to get what they want.
>>
>>62769792
Not a representative sample.
>>
>>62769798
Then it seems that you're lost here.
>>
>>62769790
smg is very much pro AI?
I swear half the posters are deep into memory/semi conductor picks
>>
>>62769803
>you disagree with me? must be a doomer
im a skeptic, not a doomer
>>
>>62769824
would you be so kind as to share one of your own positive uplifting visions of the future that lives in your head too then please
>>
>>62769803
Same reason why we don't typically think about meeting aliens and them ending up benefactors. In our own history, a meeting of civilizations more often results in death of the less developed one.
As capitalism rules the world today, it's much more realistic to expect the greed to win over, to the detriment of the less powerful.
>>
>>62769740
imagine knowing what luddite means
>>
>>62769832
a wife, a son, a daughter, and a flock of sheep.
>>
>>62769838
stuff for you, cool. thanks. hope it works out
>>
>>62769833
what greed? money is not needed anymore
>>
>>62769811
Nah I need to buy my farm with something
>>
>>62769843
Money is just a proxy for power. That need doesn't disappear anywhere unless you fundamentally restructure human psyche and society.
>>
>>62769874
Power for what?
>>
>>62769770
>this 75 year old neckbeard still writes his code the old fashioned way
>>
>>62769882
Nta but obviously power over other people. Power to mold society into a form you want it to be. Attention. I do think a post scarcity society would work well with a fraction of the people in existence, but the sociopaths who are running countries and companies (which is also their place in our society, normal people with a moral compass and values would fucking break under the responsibility) will have none of that
>>
>>62769740
Luddites
Religion-cucks (all religions btw)
Socialists/Communists

The bain of human progress and rationality.

>nooooooo we can't let robots take our factory jobs!!!!
But also:
>nooooooo I don't want to work 8 - 12 hours a day in a hot, miserable factory!!!!!!
But also:
>noooooo these damn immigrants are taking our factory jobs!!!!

I'd rather go hunting and fishing while robots do all the work, TYVM.
>>
>>62769987
Most people are creatures of habit. If they are reasonably statisfied with their work they won't constantly be on the lookout for something better, this to me is especially common in the trades.
So how is it any wonder people whose livelyhood depends on them continuing to work get upset when they are replaced and have to reorientate at >45 years
>>
>>62769969
There's no value in power over people beyond gross violations which would not be tolerated or possible given how power structures work ie you'd have to get a large cohort to all get together and decide to screw over the human race which in your doomer brain maybe makes sense but it holds no value over the potential of being able to do as you please in a robot protected society. In a world where robots can do basically anything for you, there's no use for money or power structures beyond blatant corruption that I don't even think current corrupt people want because it's relative to the current system only.
>>
>>62769788
>Work won't be needed anymore
This also means salaries won't be needed anymore.
>>
>>62771886
It also means most of the population isn't needed. It's literally not the overlords problem if unemployment is 90% if everything else is fine.
>>
>>62769740
techfags be like
>yeeeeeeaaaaaaa I can't wait to spend my time doing something I enjoy with all the disposable income I still have since that machine replaced me
>>
>>62772010
I figure AI is to workers as the internal combustion engine is to horses. If you don't own capital you might as well line up to the glue factory.
>>
>>62769790
The fuck are you going on retard? I am a regular on smg and everyone there LOVES AI.
>>
>>62772087
Liberals claim they hate capitalism but their mind is so warpped around it they can't even concieve of anything else
>>
>>62769740
All I wanna do is play videogames, watch movies and shows I like, spend time with friends and family, travel and eat good food. I can do that every day. Fuck work.l, I don't give a fuck about working except for the money I get to be comfortable, if AI can replace all work I wouldn't miss it for a fucking second. Anyone that needs work to have purpose is a soulless bot.
>>
>>62772010
No one has a plan. The overlords don't exactly know how to deal with AI either.
We are literally just making shit up as we go.
>>
>>62770845
All those post scarcity utopian societies seem to ignore natural limitations, natural resources are still scarce. The utopia hinges on the assumption that we can do whatever rhe fuck we want if there are robots are super intelligence, but maybe nature has hard set bounds around them. Another thing is that if robots will just work on their own, how would they know how to formulate laws? Through voting? Then there is still some political structure that people need to uphold, or are we just going to let the robots do that as well? Robot trials? How would you even come around the fact that societies are different and practice different religions and they want societies to work in a certain way? Those two problems seem to strike the heart of the post scarcity scenario
>>
>>62772319
Robot people fundamentally misunderstand what all actual real living people, including they themselves, without exception, do when they get a new battery operated toy. They run it until the battery dies. Then they throw it and the batteries away because they don't know anything about batteries.
