I have a colleague who does a perfect job. Works more than 3 of us, is good looking, women love him, the managers love him, is funny but is an asshole to work with. He doesn't want us to put our name in the same projects he works at as he thinks we will ruin it. How the fuck do you deal with a guy like this? Everything he does is close to perfect

Avoid working with him as much as you can, simply go to your manager and explain that while you respect the work of your colleague, and find him very competent, it just doesn't work between you and him on a human level and you'd like to work on different project. Managers deal with this kind of situation all the time and he'll be grateful that you took it up to him in order to avoid unecessary drama

I had this issue earlier this year with someone from another department. they were consistently fucking up my work through their own stubbornness and incompetence. when I went into my own performance review the only negative point my manager noted was negative feedback from this person, I had to bite my cheek to stop myself from laughing and I just said I would take that feedback into consideration and work to collaborate better with their department.I let them be attached to a valuable project, gave a presentation on what the outcome of success would be, highlighted what I felt the risk factor was (this department), shared my research with my team, and then when they inevitably blew it up I told my manager what happened and why. his c-level manager called me the same day and asked what happened, I explained why. then the next day my manager told me that person had been fired. if you turn it into a pissing contest or an internal war you'll just both lose. it's inevitable you'll have to work with complete fuckups at some point. you have to learn how to create bodies and climb over them.

I refuse to give him any work and instead spread it evenly between other coworkers while the guy in question just sits around doing LITERALLY nothing.
