The ledger fuckery is supposedly not contained to South East Asia. If you bought your ledger from a reseller anywhere in the world, open it up right fucking now and verify that it hasn't been tampered with.

Mark Karpeles made a video showing how to open it and what to look for:

unironically "online" hardware wallets were a mistake

ledger should have opened afew shops where you arrive IN PERSON to collect your device, sealed shut on purchase to proof authenticity

>safe from homedoxx
>safe from spyware

gg
>>
>entropy based on device serial number
>esim inserted into device
why do you guys keep falling for this?

>git clone btc core
>verify hashes
>move to usb
>plug into airgapped machine
>generate wallet
>partially signed transactions
problem?
>>
dont see the point in these seeing as how most people dont use crypto for day to day purchases already. since crypto is simply another ETF why not just leave it on an exchange as its intended for the casino?
>>
>>62772094
Being in control of your own money and not having to rely on a third party is the entire point of Bitcoin
>>
>>62772050
Another nail into crypto's coffin
Imagine trying to onboard someone IRL and telling them that
>you can't keep it on an exchange, they can be frozen/stolen
>you can't keep it in your browser wallet, the money will get stolen from your pc
>you can't buy a hardware wallet, all of them have been tampered with
>bro JUST buy a SECOND laptop then do a little bit of command line shenanigans and you're all good!

Then again at this point no one will probably take it from you because even scammers stopped using crypto
>>
>>62772089
now do it for link
>>
>>62772123
but no one uses it for transactions so its simply another speculative nonphysical asset. how is holding something hoping it will go up so you can dump being on control?
>>
>data leaks
>Customer leaks
>Shipment processor leaks
>Hardware implants
Who the fuck still buys or uses ledger, you have to insane

>don't invest in anything!
remind us why you're here?
>>
I think hardware wallets are still fine but you need multisig to protect any significant amount of funds.
A 2-of-2 multisig with an old wiped laptop and a hardware wallet seems decent. If you use a laptop you should remove the wifi card and for a HW you should disassemble it if it's easy to do.
But most people should stick to ETFs.
>>
>>62772199
hey faggot, i just called it a speculative asset
>>62772161
see the part where its simply a nonphysical asset? quit being a little bitch; if you want to invest in crypto sure but dont pretend like its got any real world day to day utility
>>
>>62772050
What kind of IDIOT buys something like this not directly from Ledger?
To save $10?
>>
>>62772094
The exchanges rotational rob accounts and pretend they can't fix it.
Happened to me with a small amount.
Sitting on CB for years, 2FA through phone and every security implemented.
Five years after last account usage I get an email that the funds are being sent to a bank account.
I call FIVE MINUTES LATER. They refuse to stop or reverse it. Inside job.
Happens all the time.

You deserve whatever happens to you if you purchase a hardware wallet from a reseller.

Exchanges are fractional reserve banking kikes, they artificially inflate supply in a hidden way via IOUs. Your holdings are just IOUs until you send off exchange only then is it redeemed for the real thing

I really need to open up my gold and make sure there isn't a chink or jew hiding inside.

how many people do you think have access to a fucking package once once ledger sent it?
>buy original ledgers, doctor them, then repackage them
>swap shipments from ledger with doctored devices
who will be able to tell?
>nooo dhl curiouer guys are INFALLIBE
>>
>>62772050
are these nano x devices? Glad I'm still using an old nano s from 7 years ago.
>>
>>62772050
I used to own a ledger and had six figures on it at one point, but I became so paranoid because of shit like this and countless other hacks. The coldcard hack made it clear to me to get everything off my ledger. I just buy BTC and ETH etfs nowadays. Sure I can't buy altcoins anymore but 99% of those are scams anyways.
>>
Thats funny. When i first bought a ledger it bricked itself right out of the box when updating so I thought it was garbage and bought a Trevor

i junked this french piece of shit years ago. it didn’t work once, there was an error and i temporarily couldn’t access my coins. that’s when i said NO THANKS!

Because of the multiple times exchanges have stolen user funds from Mt Gox to FTX and many more.. the whole point of crypto is to not let others control your money.

and where the fuck do i as a normie hold my crypto?

digital wallet? even more insecure and likely to get hacked
exchanges? even more likely to get scammed/robbed
ETF's? get financially raped by fees, and you are putting all your trust in a custodian to again not rob/lose the crypto

its fucking hopeless and to be honest, ive become demoralized with the whole space. crypto will only ever be a tiny percent of my networth going forward. if it pumps, i dump. im not risking financial ruin over some bullshit.

unironically ive come around to the truth that stacking gold and silver is the only way to truly have something that cant be easily scammed from you by bad actors or the government.
>>
I never trusted hardware wallets.
It like a BIG neon sign that signals you have something worth stealing.
Just use a single board computer like a raspberry pi or a Chinese clone, airgap it and put your wallet there.
>>
An old air gapped laptop running bitcoin core remains the best wallet you can use
>>
>>62773247
?
a digital wallet on a clean device, with your code etched into aluminum and hidden inside your anus is completely safe

>>62772624
Imagine how guillible you would have to be to use a wireless hardware wallet. Bluetooth no less, the most insecure transfer protocol in existance

>Coinbase will reimburse me if I get hacked
Better check your terms and conditions. They only reimburse you under a very limited set of circumstances that most of their customers don't qualify for. IIRC one of those conditions was that they only reimburse funds held in cash dollars -- not USDC, not USDT, not BTC.

>>62772271
The sort of idiot who doesn't want Ledger to leak his home address, phone number, and email AGAIN like they did to their customers at least three times already? I remember one guy posting a Ring doorbell camera screenshot of some guy in a mask and hoodie casing his house after one of the previous leaks. There were people in Europe who actually did get robbed as a result of those leaks.

Should've bought a Nigel, Harry.

>where the fuck do i as a normie hold my crypto?
I admit I got lucky. I never had the disk space to download the entire fucking blockchain just so Bitcoin Core would function. What is it now, 750GB or so? (Just looked, 775 GB, yeah, I totally want to download a fucking terabyte of data just to be able to use the software.)

Anyway, I managed to download an address generator that wasn't a backdoored scam, and I generated my own addresses and sent from my exchange to those. I only got ripped off one time when an online intermediary wallet I used so I could split the transfer turned out to have been hacked.

Electrum seems to be honest and you can roll your own dice to generate keywords if you want to use their seed phrase system. It's even easy to use in online+offline mode so that you never have to expose your private keys to the internet -- just have two laptops and never ever connect one to a network.

i dont see that as a solution over a hardware wallet

Yeah fungibility is a big deal. Money is basically worthless without it. There's some coins that solve it, but they try to delist them. You can only have goyim approved crypto, don'tcha know?
