Boomers have been for the last 20 years.
>>
My father cancelled his Amazon Prime and Netflix just after the WW2 ended, every penny counts!
>>
>>62772868
I looked it up and a 69 charger was about 33 grand in today's money. I think cars would be cheaper today if they didn't have all of that fancy bullshit in the engines as one example. You basically need to be an electrical engineer to work on that stuff.

Also if boomers are anything like my dad and his friends they spent plenty of money on going to bars.
>>
>>62772868
nobody has fucking half that shit my age.
I have a net worth of 400k at 27 here in Seattle, I'm the richest person I know under 30.
I am fucking poor. I can't get dates, I can't buy a home, I can't afford to move out of my mother's place.
>>
>>62772880
>i have 400k i cant move
are your legs broken?
>>
>>62772880

Older people are completely out of touch with how bad the housing market has gotten for gen Z and millennials who missed the short window before things got fucked.

When starter homes are over a million no amount of streaming services, $8 letters, choice of car, etc. matters. And of course the same people wagging their fingers about this stuff ARE the problem voting against allowing houses to be built every fucking chance they get.
>>
>>62772868
> Approximately 41% of households earning between $300,000 and $500,000 live paycheck to paycheck, according to recent data from the Goldman Sachs Retirement Report
They cannot stop spending
>>
>>62772923
Are they paycheck to paycheck because they have no assets, or because they are fiatminning? Big difference.
>>
>>62772872
>pretending that a zoomer with -$120k net worth is in the same financial situation as a boomer with $5M net worth
protip: not drinking $8 lattes, not subscribing to 10 streaming services, not buying $1,000 cell phones, and not driving around in $100,000 pickup trucks is how they invested enough to become multimillionaires. Cope and seethe all you want.
>>
>>62772907
>Older people are completely out of touch with how bad the housing market has gotten for gen Z and millennials
They aren't because it hasn't. The median home in the US today costs ~3x the median household income. In 1980 the median home in the US cost ~3x the median household income.
>inb4 reee but its so many dollars moar
partially inflation, but mostly double income households are much more common, so more families can afford nicer (more expensive) homes in nicer (gated) neighborhoods. Suck a bag of dicks if this bothers you.
>>
>>62772868
No, thats me, the gen x'r. Im the one with the nice truck, on a nice phone and disposable cash. Cause I fucking earned it.
>>
>>62772902
He loves in Seattle
>>
>>62772962
Do you want to invest in a company with zero net income? No. Do you want to spend all your money? Oh, yeah!
>>
>>62772962
I'm sure it varies, but there are several medical doctors in my wife's family and they are all living paycheck to paycheck. They live in multi-million dollar homes ($$$$$ mortgage/month), and drive $200k cars ($$$$/month note), and have separate homes in the country ($$$$ mortgage/month), plus $400k in student loans for undergrad and med school, and after paying their debts each month are barely scraping by on their $400k+ yearly take. Doesn't stop them from taking out an additional loan each year to take a nice vacation to Europe or Fiji, one in-law is still paying off a trip to the Azores from 2019. No financial sense at all.

They were buying fur coats, porsches, doing coke, smoking cigars and eating caviar.
>>
>>62773044
They're living their life and betting on themsleves to continue to make more. As oppose to you, who will die with an 850 credit score and no memories or pussy.

The last 20 years of administration has shown that the bottom side in this country is shallow and the upside is nearly infinite. But yeah, judge them in your 2008 carry because it makes financial sense
>>
>>62773060
My credit score is probably already 0, because I haven't had a loan in decades. Despite making far less than them, my wife (f - pussy haver) and I have saved and invested wisely and have many millions in the bank and also own a million dollar home. But we drive $30k cars, make our own lattes, and take relatively modest vacations within CONUS.
If millennials and zoomers want to piss all their money away on consumables then I'm certainly not gonna tell them no, but neither will I have any sympathy for their whinging about how tough their life is. That was their choice. They decided to play stupid games, and are now winning stupid prizes.
>>
>>62772868
That's because all those things costed a fraction of what they earned kek
>>
>>62773018
>The median home in the US today costs ~3x the median household income

Sadly this statement is not true.
>>
>>62773044
Medical doctors and dentists are a special case because unlike pretty much everyone else their careers are more or less guaranteed. For the same reason some banks will write them special low interest investment or personal loans not available to the general public.
>>
>>62773091
>AI has entered the chat
>>62773082
You're failing to factor in the 20% APR that boomers were paying on their mortgages.
>>
>>62772868
Post wall boomers paid a bomb on medical bills, they’re parasites in nature and constantly denied it when provoked, also they all consume McDonald, ice creams and sugary cola drinks.
>>
>>62773116
I guess an $8 coffee must be organic and healthy
>>
>>62772868
a latte didnt cost $8, you didnt need 10 streaming services, a car cost $5000 new and was made in detroit, and OP is a gaped ass faggot.
>>
>>62773117
> organic and healthy
They are also insanely low IQ, unable to navigate smart phone, they’re closet crackhead mentally disabled. this is the real world for the passionated zoomers to take care of.
>>
>>62772868
Nor i am.
>>
>>62773102
>You're failing to factor in the 20% APR that boomers were paying on their mortgages.
20% on 30k is literally nothing if the house is now worth 900k you fucking moron, which is literally what happened to my mom's house.
>>
>thread always has one fag arguing that things are fine, actually

Every bum around you has a girl

Lmao @ money chasers

>>

Durr older generations weren't at the tale end of late stage capitalism's run away inflation.
>>
>>62772868
coffee is gross
tv is boring poorly written slop
an old phone works for 99.99% of people
a good old vehicle gets you from A to B

>late stage capitalism
Clear indicator you are talking to a socialist mouth breather. Meaningless marxist buzzword.
>>
>>62773713
No, it means we are the point in fiat inflation where meaningless long strings of numbers are necessary for basic everyday transactions that were originally just a few pennies for the daily meal to a handful of bills for a new car, now you need numerous copies of the largest bill in circulation just to purchase a decent meal for the family.
>>
>>62773007
Yeah they bought a home for their single income family while working a factory job that now barely covers the living expenses of a single individual
>>
>>62772879

you have to check historical prices against gold. all those inflation calculators are bullshit, using government inflation statistics.

In 1969 the charger cost ~80 oz of gold on the low end. That's $320,000 now, on the low end.
>>
My grandfather told me how the only thing he cared about was buying a Porsche, so he took out a loan when he got his first job in the mailroom to buy one. He ended up being worth mid 8 figures.
>>
>>62773072
having a decent life and still choosing to 'holiday' in your home country is sad. Holidays are relatively cheap
>>
>>62773810
Get a wife that also works, dumbass. It's called "household income" for a reason.
>>
>>62773974
>yuropean doesn't know how big the US is
Sad. Many such cases.
>>
>>62772868
They literally inflated the prices, they spent that equivalent on simping on women and spoiling them and now we have the worst women available on planet earth.
>>
>>62772868
I am a gen Xer (boomer to most of you young'ns) and I can tell you that most boomers didn't go without either, boomers looked at me like I worked to hard and would always suggest stuff to me like I should be trading in my vehicle and getting a new one every four years.
>>
>>62773007
Guess we can discontinue your social security checks then, boomer.
>>
>>62774067

who made lattes $8 and trucks $100,000?
>>
>>62773846
>you have to check historical prices against gold. all those inflation calculators are bullshit, using government inflation statistics.
You have to check wage equivalent rates, all those gold rate statistics are bullshit.
>>
>>62772868
Can someone explain this meme to me? Which Zoomers buy pick up trucks?

And nine of those are expensive. I mean I get saying a 1000 dollar phone is and it probably is not that much different than a lesser expensive phone, but you use it literally every hour of your life. Why wouldn't you?
>>
you used to be able to work in retail in the 90s and be able to take care of your family while going on vacations every once in a while. Hell even in the 50s you could be a bagger at a grocery store and buy a house after a year. Most of these Twitter posts are just bait btw
>>
>>62772868
Boomers literally do all those things.
>>
>>62772868
>$8 lattes
I don't drink coffee, but when I do, I brew it myself
>subscribed to 10 streaming services
I pirate all my media
>talking on $1000 cell phones
I bought a Pixel 10a at $424, after owning a Pixel 1 for nearly 8 years
>driving around in pristine $100,000
I use public transport

Why can't I afford a fucking house now?
>>
>>62774167
Wage-equivalent rates are bullshit, the average worker has gotten much more productive over the past 40 years, plus Chinese competition depressed wages. You have to look at an index of what consumers actually paid for goods.
>>
>>62775047
>average worker has gotten much more productive over the past 40 years

Wrong, the average worker is shit. Machines got better and you lazy fucks didn't buy the machine
>>
>>62772868
Assuming they get 2 lattes a day and do it on weekends as well this is $6k/year. Okay, what now? That's still more than 60 years of saving on fucking lattes to buy a house.
>>
>>62775037
You forgot
>blew my stash on chainlink
>>
>>62773846
You couldn't even buy gold in 1969 retard, gold was illegal to own from 1933-1974, the price was fake and gay during that entire time which is why it corrected upwards by a gorillion percent in 1980 to catch up to 40 years of inflation.

At least I'm not an old fat bald headed bitch.
Enjoy your ignorance - a taste of reality would fucking kill you on the spot
>>
>>62772868
>YOU'RE POOR BECAUSE YOU BUY STUFF NOT BECAUSE YOU'RE WORKED LIKE A SLAVE AND PAID WORSE THAN A MEDIEVAL PEASANT!
>STOP BUYING STUFF!
>WTF WHY IS THE ECONOMY COLLAPSING???
Those $8 lattes and streaming services only exist because of evil greedy boomers and old jews turning everything into a hyperexpensive subscription service and who all need to be smothered in their sleep. They want the next generations to own nothing and be ensslaved while they own everything as they're about to die. Kill yourself. Everyone responsible for this and their bootlickers like this tool need to be hunted down and publicly executed.
>>
Stop thinking you deserve a $500k house in the burbs. If you are poor go live in a trailer park or ghetto and work your way up. If that's all you can afford that is where you deserve to live.
