Ledgers have been confirmed to have been intercepted and bugged at the supply-chain level, coming new-from-factory with SIM cards and antennas grafted to their cicruitboard to phone home all the users' credentials. Potentially apocalyptic depending on how widespread it is. Thousands of retail outlets implicated in Europe alone, situation still developing.

remember when Mossad intercepted the supply chain of pagers and made them all mini bombs?
probably not related in any way whatsoever and a complete coincidence

We could probably get a betting pool going over whether this was Israel, India, or China.

I would be wigging out but I don't know how to even recommend a course of action.

Is the weight of a ledger public knowledge? Could you weigh it to see if it's too heavy?

i never understood why anyone would buy these?
how is this meant to be better or more secure than just remembering some words in your brains ?

Just heard from a friend he got hacked on a ledger, lost 2/3rds of his stack. Feels bad man, if he'd asked I would have told him to use trezor. He's past it now but he's sort of washed his hands of crypto and is happy to sit in cash.

But actually this is clever

People in here talking about counterfeits and gram weightage like this is the precious metals general. Reinventing the wheel with extra steps. My gold won't get vaporized by EMPs.
>>
>>62775329
A digital precision scale with 0.01g accuracy is less than $20 on amazon right now. You'll still want a couple weights to calibrate it but it's not that big of an expense.
>>

So people are buying from third party retailers and are shocked that the devices were tampered with? This shit is crypto 101.

If only there was a way people could transfer their coins to a different wallet before the hacker drains their ledger.

So glad I have the original ledger nano that is too simple and shitty for any of these shenanigans

i had 12k XMR on an external harddrive never understood the need for a hardware wallet

private keys can be exfiltrated from a standard hard drive. they can't from a TEE

it was never plugged in to another device. bought / sold dont seems like a USB wouldve worked but i downloaded the whole XMR block chain

couldn't ledger, yknow, make their wallets transparent (literally) to prevent mysterious black box data rape syndrome?
>>
>>62776285
they obviously need to work out some tamper proof solution, transparent casing can be circumvented, it just adds a bit of complexity. they will come up with something much more robust.
>>
>>62774615
i stopped reading halfway through op's post and i dont understand therefore i dont care

They do have kind of transparent models. I wonder if making them too transparent would make them prone to sunlight damage, etc.
