AI is doing to engineers what engineers did to factory workers
>>62776462Normie takeCustomer support, lawyers, accountants, analysts, designers, translators (!!!), advertisers... This is far more widespread than engineers. Also, are you conflating engineers and software engineers?
>>62776482Trvke It's ill advised to freak those other people out right now for obvious reasons. Especially the lawyers. A 24 month long serious growing pang is yet to come. It will cause cramps.
>>62776462ai is doing to indians what indians did to engineers
>>62776492This lol
>>62776462>AI is going to put the guys who maintain the machines out of work, because machines are software or something
>>62776482>translatorsThis is also a dumb take, jobs which require translation like "russian language research analyst" only become easier with better translation services and make up for gaps in human knowledge.
>>62776512>>maintainThe average modern engineer has never touched a wrench or fixed something themselves in their life.
is no one concerned about the massive brain drain caused by this technology? it's like the current level of tech will become frozen as everyone but turbo autists are disincentivized to gain skills or work. innovation slows to a crawl or even regresses as complex systems begin to collapse with no one to maintain them
>>62776462>he thinks business people can just tell AI to build things without the need for engineers or developers
>>62776482AI support, lawyers, and translation are fucking garbage and some basic research or even trying it yourself would show you why, and the only thing it does is promote more AIslap in ads for me to block. It's only ever been competent at programming and math aka replacing engineers.
>>62777973It's the same pattern as when we replaced much of historical physical tedium with factories. AI can't out-design a good engineer (yet). The same can't be said for someone who was willing to pore over technical documentation in another language and laboriously translate it. Lawyers aren't much different. They IQ-gated their jobs, but mostly through working memory barriers. It's another language, and not a very mechanistically complex one, like a programming language. Turns out AI has significant advantages in working memory.
you can literally run a company alone with AI and no one does this yet, why?
You guys are such stupid seething bitches every day of your lives.
>>62778050I'm still waiting for the day AI even becomes semi-competent at translation. I'm not holding my breath on that one. I have many learning materials in other languages (mainly Russian/Chinese) and have to wait for .srt/.sub files online transcribed by someone who actually speaks the languages. AI clearly misses the meaning when I compare them, it'll throw in random words like "fountain" out of nowhere. I wouldn't trust it to even draw up a grant letter, either.
>>62777909As a matter of fact they can.
>>62778117in the past, this would have been an interesting hobbyist project. now it's just slop.
>>62778117Codemonkeys replaced themselves trying to replace everyone else, kek. That's the sweetest irony in all of this and why I'll never hate AI personally. It's just not well suited for many other tasks.
>>62778204>It's just not well suited for many other tasks. You've been warned.
>>62778204there's barely any code involved in that particular example>>62778233>dunning-kruger chuuni postone day you'll graduate high school anon
>>62778244>there's barely any code involved in that particular examplelol
>>62778272I understand that you don't know how to code and game development is like voodoo magic to you. you also don't seem to understand what makes games fun or interesting
>>62778061because you literally cantAI is the biggest hoax in stock market history
Game dev here. We just successfully used AI to make simple common particle effects for distant backdrops. We don't have to spend 5 bucks on a pack anymore. We spent 8000k usd thousand worth of tokens to figure this out. 1 billion tokens my lads, Claude Sora 5.5. 5 days worth of part time requests that yielded no use scenarios for most other aspects. And best part? We still need a 3d artist to verify it's not doing crazy shit like those 100k tricount bolts it added on a gun.
>>62778337Sorry for misspellings. I was taking a shit.
>>62778061Here's the entire argument one needs to combat [insert current gen ai]:>If one could do that, why haven't you?
>>62778343Also. Sonnet. Not Sora. Also. Faggot nsmes. 1 billion tokens +. That's 2 weeks of electricity in a home's worth... To make a pixel explosion, a Lazer beam and moving fog sheet.
>>62778337>>62778372AI is the biggest hoax in stock market history
>>62778372But this way you avoid the liability of cybersecuring a quantum no-takesies license for your dating sim so you don't accidently distribute his $5 IP to the guy who will hook Claude up to Ghidra, uncoil your slop, then repackage and sell a clone of it for 1.99 on the app store for 25% the token costyour biz admin are likely super horny about a strategically promising bottom line
>>62777896We already had the brain drain, it was called immigration. The economy in every Western country has been pricing out generations of educated, decent, hardworking people in every single field of endeavor for literal decades, the competency crisis everyone has been talking about has been because of immigration, not because of AI. 50 years from now, it'll be because of AI, but I don't really see that we're losing anything by replacing the chinks and the wetbacks with LLMs.The only way this argument holds water is if large groups of people are willing to commit to hard nationalist and xenophobic political tendencies, which most people unfortunately currently aren't.
>>62778109You're not the market. If they can pay a quarter the price, or even half, most clients will take grant letters full of "fountain". Indians watch obviously fake Onlyfans content and pay for it, whatever they can afford. The economic rule is that if you are scrutinizing quality, you are probably not definitive of demand. Programs that are inefficient, give bad outputs 10% of the time? Who cares! It's cheaper, it's easier, and FUCK engineers, fuck smart people that tell us what can and cannot be done. We're the elites, we're the rulers, we are born to own you and everything else. That's the mindset, and we will be buried.
I don't think you understand what engineers are, engineers produce at least 10-12 jobs around them because most of them are retards who need absurd levels of Quality Control.
>>62778801so, just like AI?
>>62778812Yep, all these losers fail to understand is that they will still have to work in 5-10 years its just that their productivity targets will be higher.
>>62778061you cant retard, its just another tool to replace photoshop, word document etc etc
>>62776462Jevons paradox chud.
>>62776462You're still falling for the AI meme. AI is only killing entry-level jobs because companies refuse to train junior staff. LLMs are useful, but they have major limitations. You guys keep getting fooled by the media—completely blind to the fact that AI can't deliver the productivity gains it promised.
>>62776462Software engineers aren’t engineers.
>>62779280yea they're super engineers because the shit they make cant be touched like a minor
>>62778117This is Satanic. It's straight up black magic. Fuck AI.
>>62776492/thread
>>62776482Outside of software engineering, AI is fairly good with mechanical and honestly anything engineering outside of petroleum and nuclear. Tech is dead though, unless you’re already high up and/or doing low level programming you’re fucked. >t. Software architect with cushy job
