With inflation over the last decade despite doubling my salary I somehow feel poorer. Obviously doesn't help I had kids in the meantime, but that's fucking crazy that I can't have a family and live in a safe neighborhood in a decent sized home and feel actually wealthy unless I'm making $300k+. How do people who make sub $200k even get by? I don't even spend extravagantly. I wear clothing with holes in it. I go on 1 vacation a year. I buy myself literally nothing fun unless I sell something fun first to pay for it. I drive a Honda. You can't claw your way out of this shit unless you remain single and childless. There is no fucking end to the prices of things going up. Literally the only escape for a "family man" is either death or gambling on crazy shit like crypto. How did we get here?

Its not possible for a functioning society to not involve work. One thing that has actually changed is that less people are working and more people receive government aid than in the past.
