It's fascinating how emotional Asians are. I always had a fascination towards Asians, how rational and orderly they look, but the more I get to know them, the more different they look to my old beliefs. Protein folding — a 50-year grand challenge. AlphaFold2 (2020) predicts structures at atomic accuracy; 200M+ structures released free to scientists. The core problem is done; complexes are still improving.
•
Superhuman game play — AlphaGo (2016) beat Lee Sedol 4–1; AlphaZero then mastered chess, shogi, and Go from scratch, finding strategies (novel openings, "alien" moves) humans hadn't discovered in millennia of play.

Faster matrix multiplication — AlphaTensor (2022) found algorithms beating Strassen's 1969 method for certain sizes — the first improvement in 50+ years, found by search, not derivation.

Chip floorplanning — AlphaChip used reinforcement learning to lay out Google's TPU chips; published in Nature, deployed in production hardware.

Medium-range weather forecasting — GraphCast (2023) beat the best conventional physics models on 90%+ of metrics for 10-day forecasts, in under a minute instead of hours on a supercomputer.
Great progress, not finished:

De novo protein design — RFdiffusion and friends design brand-new proteins and enzymes from scratch, some with real catalytic activity in the lab.

New materials GNoME (2023) predicted 2.2M new crystal structures, ~380k stable candidates — DeepMind's estimate was ~800 years of human discovery compressed. Most still await lab synthesis.

New antibiotics halicin (2020) kills resistant bacteria including C. difficile and A. baumannii; abaucin (2023) targets A. baumannii specifically. Both AI-discovered; still working through clinical stages.

Competition-level math AlphaGeometry solved 25 of 30 IMO geometry problems; AlphaProof hit silver-medal level at IMO 2024. Gold is the remaining gap.

Fusion plasma control — reinforcement learning steered tokamak plasma shape in real time (2022). A real control result, but commercial fusion remains distant.

AI-designed drugs in trials Insilico's ISM001-055 for pulmonary fibrosis reached Phase II first fully AI-designed drug to get that far

IMO 2025 gold (July 2025): Google DeepMind's Gemini Deep Think scored 35/42 — 5 of 6 problems, right at the gold cutoff — with solutions officially graded and certified by IMO coordinators. The jump from 2024 matters: end-to-end natural language, inside the 4.5-hour contest window, versus the previous year's Lean-translation pipeline that took days. OpenAI's experimental model matched 35/42 under independent grading by three former medalists. Only ~10% of the 641 human contestants reached gold; five got perfect scores.
•
AlphaEvolve's math results (May 2025): 4×4 complex matrix multiplication in 48 scalar multiplications instead of 49 — the first improvement on Strassen's 1969 algorithm in 56 years. It also improved 14 of 54 matrix-multiplication targets, raised the 11-dimensional kissing number record from 592 to 593 spheres, tightened Erdős's minimum-overlap bound, and beat the best-known solution on ~20% of 50+ open problems (matching ~75%).
•
Erdős unit-distance conjecture (May 2026): an OpenAI model found a counterexample to Erdős's 1946 conjecture on unit distances in the plane. Timothy Gowers said he'd recommend it to the Annals "without any hesitation" and that no previous AI proof came close to this sophistication; Daniel Litt called it "the first result produced autonomously by an AI that I find interesting in itself." Mathematician Will Sawin improved the result within days, and DeepMind's model resolved nine lesser Erdős problems the same week.
•
Grothendieck constant bounds (2026): a Princeton team narrowed the bounds on this 1953 constant with AI doing most of the work — lead researcher Pravesh Kothari: "we can take very little credit." Not yet peer-reviewed

The banks are complaining this week that they're having a hard time trading the corporate debt they have and thus have lowered the rating of those bonds. Said bonds are the debt that a lot of companies (mostly Oracle) have been taking on for the AI infrastructure build out. This is what they do with almost all debt their underwrite, banks hold it to help stabilize the market for it while its being sold and then offload it once the market has been established.

If the debt is not trading, then there's a big risk in the market for whoever is holding the bag.

Not on their own. Iran's demanded terms to end the war will never be acceptable to an American government of either party. Either Iran will have to drop the demands for reparations, tolling the straits, and being able to develop nukes or we're going to have to carpet bomb their industrial capacity.

Different president (Democrat or normal Republican) probably would not have started in the first place, nor would they have sat around with their dicks in their hands for half a year while the world ran out of oil if they did, but unless you have a Time Machine can't undo that.

Sorry if you are a Europoor or third worlder drowning under the cost of food and energy; in our defense it was Trump or the VP of the guy who brought inflation in our country back after having it beaten for half a century, we didn't exactly have good options in 2024.

I use AI daily for work and I work for MS and with my "free/limitless" Claude tokens I'm billions deep..

And it's absolutely not fucking worth it yet.and unless they reduce true cost by maybe 100 times, it won't be worth much in the future either. I think the only thing It's actually useful at is project sorting, production management and minor in engine plugins and shader work.

I used it for graphics/post too, and it's generally only good for the most generic stuff stuff you can imagine. Compared to asset packs and freeware it's hopelessly expensive and messy. We only use it because it's "free". But... When we look at the real costs our actions are having it's lunacy. I've spent 2.5 billion tokens this week already. And got 300 some files sorted, tried and failed a single character with animation test + a starter vfx pack of like 4 usable effects in return.
True cost: 15.000$ 1,750 { kWh} (equivalent to powering an average U.S. home for about 2 months).

It's not making me feel like a good person. I know faith in this shit is low and we pretty much just abuse the desperation deal MS got. When they are for "free", it's a ok deal.

>The $965bn start-up told investors that it was profitable on an adjusted basis in the three months to September for the second quarter in a row, according to multiple people with knowledge of the matter. Revenues were up from $11.5bn in the three months to June.
>Anthropic did not share an update to its annualised revenue, which hit $65bn at the end of July. But SemiAnalysis, a research firm, projected sales grew to roughly $74bn on an annualised basis based on the new figures.
>Those estimates are lower than more bullish predictions during the summer, when a number of Anthropic’s investors told the FT the company would far surpass $100bn in annualised revenue by year-end.
>Anthropic told investors that it was cash flow positive and banking $1.70 in revenue for every $1 spent on computing power in the third quarter, said the people with knowledge of the matter. Executives said its adjusted operating margins, which exclude stock-based compensation, were 11 per cent.

AI slop is already replacing them in the advertising world. We're already seeing that with gen AI video and images. For throway slop, we're already there. I know you've probably used Adobe for years, maybe you're an artist or some shit, I don't care. I'm sure you love your craft. But most shit produced by Adobe was never going to actually be looked at for more than a few seconds max and you just don't need that anymore.
And that's not even getting into the vibecoded shit to replace the adobe shit, that's just genAI.
That's why I'm so bullish on KMB. You can't AI generate some toilet paper or a diaper from a tree.
>>
dem gooks got raped up again today
>>
>>62783937
>Most companies can't even quantify the return on their slop spending.
yes but that's besides the point
adobe relies on annual price hikes to squeeze out most of its growth so the bet is they have less pricing power now because everyone is tokenmaxxxing to see if more AI in the accounting department can lower headcount
they won't go to 0 but if they're no longer a growth stock this will compress their multiples immensely
just keep that in mind there is a high probability this is a textbook value trap

You really don't understand do you? Check something out from a competent individual, here try this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wajoP_5Cpw8

The situation, simply, is that any mildly tech-savy individual can now create their own version of any Adobe program with exactly the features they want. Yes, the very first full on imitations are wonky, but they are a straight rip including all the code. When somebody streamlines the features they want, makes a good version, and puts it to a repository, then it's there, free, for all. Software is royally fucked.

>>62783953
Did you even watch the video you linked? God you people are so fucking retarded. The faggot in the video tries out the slop Adobe clones and quickly finds them to be absolutely useless, buggy pieces of shit, then decides to make his own slop clones by "reverse engineering" the binaries, which of course he doesn't show. I don't know. I remember reading something about them losing some earnings because they reduced prices (or made the subscription free?) for students or something to that effect, but even if growth slows, it's still a good value play.
When the market suddenly cuts the multiple on a stock, you always have to be cautious because there's usually a good reason for it. Take Nike for example. There's a good chance that it's permanently fucked. But in Adobe's case, I understand why the market is doing what it's doing. It's AI bullshit. You had retards like Leopold Aschenbrenner shorting Adobe as a "hedge" against his AI longs on the institutional side, and on the retail side, it's always the same arguments by retards like >>62783953 who didn't even watch the video he posted as evidence. Every discussion I have with LLM obsessed people reinforces my belief that they don't know what they're talking about.

the thing with value traps is they look good on paper but you're swimming against the stream so you should have rock solid reasoning besides "last number was good"
the saaspocalypse trade was great for those guys because it offered double edged leverage and it worked until it didn't but that has already unwound, see: MSFT, NOW etc even ADBE recovered from 190 to 260 but I don't think it makes ATH within the next 5 years for the reasons I've already mentioned
