whats the counter argument?
i see gold as savings. id use it when its time to spend. and it still works if shit goes down - which i think is more than likely as the days goes by.

Counter argument is the spread, you pay a good amount converting Back and forth. Also, you get jewed if you want to breakup a big gold coin or huge silver bar. They jew you up in both cases. The next counter is that returns on it is poor and it doesn't pay dividends.

Forget about the juden and hoard Silbel and Gold.

What they don't tell you is that Bismuth is radioactive and in 2.01e19 years half of your stack will have decayed into Thallium.
More seriously, I have been considering buying some Bismuth to melt down and make crystals with to sell on Ebay or wherever, but I feel like shipping costs would eat whatever profit I'd make.
What do you think, /pmg/? Is there money to be made this way or is it too much of a hassle?

Gold/Silver are for storing savings for longer terms goals. Its always good to keep fiat in your bank in case of an emergency, but its foolish to let a good chunk of your wealth sit as cash. We get jewed with stocks and crypto too, those also can dip far worse than silver does, I've held stocks/crypto that have had worse bear markets than PMs. Long term PMs perform well, like Index funds, but with energy prices going up long term plus inflation getting out of hand PMs are looking better than ever to physically own right now. Soon they will go up in price simply because it costs way more to mine, refine and transport it.
>>
>>62788027
Just hold
>>
>>62787732
The counter argument is you'll be murdered if you're not careful with it. Massive economic downturn where fiat is worthless and people are bartering but you're consistently bringing new gold/silver to market. Someone will eventually kill you or find your stash and rob you.

It's good in a reasonable quantity, but going all in is retarded (if not for generational wealth). In a major depression it's only useful in large amounts after the system has stabilized and you can then trade your gold for the new currency.

Gold/silver is only valuable if you want to pass it down to your kids without a paper trail or if you're comfortable waiting out your crash period without using too much of it to raise suspicion.

today my newest purchase joined forces with the rest of my stack. Just realized that I forgot to cover up the serial number of the 500g bar. But its pure shininess did the trick anyway. Silver is also nice and shiny. It shines even brighter than gold. But nothing compares to this golden warmth.

Got those 1,75kg for less than 40k € back in 2009. It came without a blister, so I can fumble it as much as I like. The sheer weight and its density feels unlike anything else I've got. Tarnish is chemically reversible too, its simply sulfur that gets stuck to the outside, baking soda solution with sacrificial aluminum reverses it without losing mass as you just convince the sulfur to bind to the aluminum. It gets tricky though on what to clean, since tarnish is valued on some things like old coins or household items. Tends to happen in humid conditions where sulfur compounds are present.

I don't want you to sell, but I can explain to you why I don't buy the stuff.

1. The rarity and demand for silver is similar to a lot of other much cheaper base metals indicating about 90% of the value arises from use in jewellery and for investment and speculation. Granted silver has historically had value as money but I believe those days are gone and extremely unlikely to come back in any form I will survive. So we're left with a metal that's apparently way overpriced compared to other metals because of market speculation, and what markets can drive up in price they can certainly drop back down. And I believe silver is still quite high with plenty of room to drop.

2. Silver is a good hedge against inflation, but so are gold, houses, and business equity. All of which I own and all of which are easier to store than a similar value of silver. To store even a million in silver would require expensive modification of my house and it simply isn't worth it when I can buy things that can't be stolen
>>
>62791099

>>
my logic from this assumption >>62790449 is that it leads to the spooky default or more likely debasement - gold prices rises.
a rates hike wont fix a debt, spending, population shortage problem.
so inflation or default.. a liquidity crises where gold falls in prices then during the actual inflation, and country not fully imploding, prices rise?

I collect numismatic coins which have a lot of overlap. So I own a fair amount of silver and gold but don't buy strictly for bullion value.

Numismatic prices are even more speculative and manipulated than bullion prices, but I like coins and don't really collect them as an investment. I flip them to make money to fund my collection but only because the spread on numismatics tends to be in the range of 200-1000%. A horrible investment if you need to sell in a hurry, but a decent profit margin if you don't mind waiting months or years for a sale. Either way I like the thread for interesting coins and bars. There's a lot of overlap with coin collecting

Yeah I assume it's autism that prevents so many 4chan users such as yourself from entertaining multiple opposing ideas at the same time.

What I said was,
>IF something is going up because of inflation
>IF

If doesn't mean it's necessarily happening. You're not smart enough to understand this. Autists generally fail at nuance

Good idea. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to deform pure gold.
Now you know why biting a gold coin to check its purity was a thing.

the small dents on the left and right side were from gently bumping the 1 kilo bar against it. Not even with any kind of force. More like two metal pieces you bump together to hear the frequency at which they vibrate.

Not really my problem yall are just like rats in a cage in my study of normgroid psychology for my personal wealth expansion

>The bear case (the 1980s–2000s):

A buyer at the 1980 peak (~$85 in today's dollars) sat through a 96% real decline by 2001 and was still ~71% underwater 46 years later.
Through the 1980s and 1990s, silver went essentially nowhere in nominal terms while inflation steadily eroded its real value.
After the 2011 peak, it took until December 2025 to recover the real value — a 14-year wait.

I was thinking of stuff like mercury, antimony, arsenic, bismuth, tellurium, maybe even nickel or tin. None of them are perfect analogs for either supply or demand but they're pretty close.

The argument against would be platinum group metals but I believe those are rarer than silver and have much higher industrial demand and refining costs.

Reached out to a company for the possibility of doing 1/10oz Gold rounds. Here's what we got back so far
>Gold value per 1/10 oz coin: approximately $416
>Custom production premium: $75 per coin over spot
>Preliminary unit price: $491 each
>50 pieces: $24,550
>$1,000 Die/Setup Fee
The only problem with this is that they can't press both sides of the round. One side would have to remain flat. I can check about going up to a 1/5th and it that will make a 2-sided design possible, but that would also throw the round completely out of most anons price ranges.
>>
>>62793091
One side flat is shit. It's gotta be two sided. They can't do it or not enough money for them to bother?
>>
>>62793101
>Production gave us two possible formats:
>16 mm diameter × approximately 0.80 mm thick
>18 mm diameter × approximately 0.63 mm thick
>Their preference is the 18 mm version because the larger diameter gives us better results with the embossing.
>At this thickness, the artwork would need to remain a fairly flat 2D design. Production is also recommending that we keep the primary design to one side, with the reverse kept simple in a matte or lightly sandblasted finish rather than trying to create another highly detailed polished face.
Might just be the limitations of their machines and skills, 1/10th is crazy small. That's why I was going to ask them if 1/5th would be workable, but that puts it out of the price range for anons

In the Shadow of Gold
From DIE ZEIT, No. 48/1961 · November 24, 1961
Silver and the price of silver are making headlines
By Melchior Palyi
Page 1
For three generations, silver has occupied the poorhouse of the economy. Its retreat began in 1873, when Bismarck converted Germany's silver currency to the English-style gold standard, thereby throwing substantial quantities of monetary silver onto the market. The Netherlands, Austria, and the Scandinavian countries followed suit. In 1874, the free coinage of silver was also suspended in the Latin Monetary Union, which included France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, and other countries.
The next blow came in 1892, when the production of rupee coins in India was discontinued. Soon afterward, the de facto removal of silver from the monetary systems of both Mexico and China sealed the metal's decline. There was simply too much of it. Silver was produced as a by-product of base metals, while demand for monetary purposes was drying up and large quantities of coins were being melted down for commercial use. The Great Depression delivered the deathblow to silver. India alone released 40 million ounces onto the market. The price ratio between silver and gold plunged from its almost historical level of 1:15½ to below 1:100.
Even so, to this day the ratio in the United States is maintained at nearly 1:40 through federal subsidies. The Treasury buys domestic production at 90.5 cents per ounce and sells it for no less than 91 cents (DM 3.64) per ounce. (For both silver and gold, the so-called troy ounce is used, equivalent to 31.1035 grams.)
A “Revolution” in the Silver Market
But the subsidy for silver became a boomerang. The US Treasury's selling price, intended to serve as a “floor,” became a “ceiling.” It determines silver's value on the world market—as long as the American government's supply of “free silver” remains available. (The selling price at the New York Mint was 92.74 cents per ounce.)
>>
>>62793091
Maybe this would be more appropriate of a suggestion for the Apurand, but what if it was minted on non-24K gold? If that's even a thing, blank alloyed gold rounds. Also I would imagine a lot of copper would be needed (aka, much lower purity) to bump a dime-sized (rough size of 1/10 oz gold) to nickel-sized (like 20 franc).

MuntBuilder is my go to. They always have enough at spot PM's to get free shipping, equaling 0% premium on most my orders.
Like the other anon said, be consistent. I bought all this between now and early July. Average cost of probably $63 for silver and $4150 for gold. Waiting on $700 worth more to arrive in the mail but this is what I got.

Well I recommend 3x a week fat girl to failure. But to ease your pain let me share. I've said no to a cute fat girl 3 over the last months as I was into another woman(and I'm not an adult hole)
Now after that didn't work out the cute fatty lost 45 lb. And she's super happy about it. I might hang out with her soon and acted happy for her but as a Juggalo. I'm a sad clown. If I'd been faster I could have had 45 lb more cute woman.
Silliness aside I'm always respectful to women. This ensures I sometimes miss opportunities but it also ensures all interactions are genuine and come from the heart and are simply positive. You win some you lose some.
Hope this makes sens.

Those are crazy people fren.
Also just want once a day in the morning this way if you meet a woman you're not 1 stressed and 2 going off to fast and 3 you checked if everything is working as intended.
Some days wank more if you're sure no woman will need you. And here n there take 1 day off to let your system regulate.
Old man advice here.
Now stop stressing and overthingking it and go get en young man:)
And by that I mean relax, just be a decent person, try to every day be a small blessing to someone and I'm sure you'll meet someone you like and who likes you.

The best way to stack Copper is if you have a source for free scrap, such as from construction sites. Alas, electricians and plumbers know to save their scraps, so it's harder to scavange from active sites.

Pennies are kind of dead-end. You have to melt them yourself, as destroying pennies for their scrap value is outlawed (in the US) and therefore commercial smelters won't. If you do it yourself, it jacks the expense (and effort) quite a bit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPQDkKA4MLE
An Anon here spe3culate4s that pennies (and nickels?) my become legal to meltsome day, like silver constitutional is now.
A nice thing to do with pennies is to drop them on the ground in places where kids are likely to find them. Think of it as seeds for stacking mentality.

Next best: buy scrap or homemade bars from auction sites or yard sales.

Commercial bullion is now very expensive. But these bars are selling for triple the price I paid a a dozen years ago, while spot price is about 40% higher. Will that trend continue? Dunno.

They are going to have to instill confidence in whatever comes in to replace the dollar. They probably won't have as much success as they hope as the oligarchs, banking class and the tribe will not be able to control the narrative when explaining how all the money in the world go stolen.
It won't be lost on people that the new economy will be more akin to "participation" tickets allowing you to pay for services and snacks and vices and you'll probably be priced out of acquiring capital assets for the next 2-3 generations.

Not that it really matters, as it's all theatrics and they will print no matter what, but how does the money printing work in the context of the EU? The US prints more US dollars as needed. But France uses euros, a currency used by many other members. Will they have to seek approval from others or can they just act in self-preservation and go rogue?

All physical commodities will increase in value as dollar dilution is 100% assured. They can't maintain the value of the cash because the bond market is eating the world's lunch. Resources are being extracted faster than they can get pumped back in. And if you try to stop the interest payments then the $46TN bonds will just get converted into cash which will then need to buy something else in the real world. Actualizing that purchasing power of the bond market is the sole issue. So it's better to have physical capital assets BEFORE that psychological flight to quality occurs.
>>
>>62796490

A man finds a magic lamp and the genie grants him 1 wish with the only stipulation that it must be moral. The man asks for $1BN in cash. The genie considers the request and deems it impermissible. Wishing for $1BN in cash is not a moral request because cash is a claim against another man's wealth and resources. Without him earning the cash through exchanging his own wealth, labor and time, the newly granted cash enslaves everyone around him as he now has unjust purchasing power. He diluted the purchasing power of everyone else around him.
The man then reconsiders and says "I would like to have $1BN of silver rounds".
The genie considers the wish and grants it. Pallets of monster boxes string up all around the man. The man, now having money to exchange for all of his wants and needs is not stealing from his fellow man. Because the silver is a tangible, valuable and scarce material. It does not defraud anyone else when he trades the silver for his life's needs.
Creating pallets of silver enriches humanity with an abundance of resources. Creating the cash does nothing but create more claims to the wealth already existing.
