worst crash in the history of the indonesian stock market after the worst year long bear market in the history of the market.
MSCI just kicked indonesia out of emerging market. we're no longer a developing country. we're officially a standalone country. this shithole. managed by the most extreme corruption a human could ever imagined. voted to power by sub 80 IQ retarded monkeys of a population. it;s hopeless. Great beaches, great fruits and seafood, great wildlife, you even have Orang-Utans. Not like a western city slave living in concrete hell with slave job and everything so expensive their wage means not much. There is a reason young people from the "first world" move to bali (bali specifically because living around moslems is never fun, we have that in the west too). Learn to appreciate that.

Limited access and there's a lot of challenges in investing in other country stock market
1. knowledge barrier and familiarity with the companies

3. currency spread when buying/selling/deposit/withdraw fund
4. higher broker fees for accessing foreign markets
It's just not ideal.

SK and Nikkei rugged because of AI semiconductor sell off. IHSG is because political corruption which led to macroeconomics disaster, also market manipulation (conglomerates pump their stocks like crazy so they can sell at top to MSCI and the stock exchange turned a blind eye to everything), so MSCI felt deceived and are planning to kick Indonesia out of MSCI universe (annoucned yesterday), which lead to an even more massive sell off. Indonesia has multi-layered corruption problem and it's permanent.

all the high paying white collar jobs are concentrated in Java, especially in Jakarta. most areas outside Java are pretty much 4th world country. This country is ruled by Javanese elites, despite most of the conglomerates are chinese descent. chinese (and non muslim) are very discriminated here, they can't enter politics so they focus on business and only business. but even then they're being screwed up real hard recently by the current ruling military party. the most recent example is hostile takeover of Bayan Resources (one of the biggest market cap in the market) by one of the president's best buddy (palm oil mafia). many people speculate that THAT was what triggered MSCI to finally kick Indonesia out. the investment climate (stocks and real industry) is fucked here.

Why didn't you invest in crypto op? I know you said you wanted to be safe and make responsible investments, but crypto is a way to invest in US economy and foreign markets in general. Not only do you have easy access to USD stablecoins, but you have tokenized stocks like Google and even the SP500 is tokenized as a crypto and you don't need to provide personal information you can just use a wallet connected to a decentralized exchange. This actually wouldn't work for most Americans because the volume is kind of low right now, but since you admitted that the average salary in Indonesia is approximately 300USD a month then it's perfect for you.

>I just can't trust crypto
You sound like a fucking retard. Do you understand mathematics at all? What do they teach you Indonesians at school in terms of maths and critical thinking? First of all, you don't have to understand or trust anything when you consider the history over the past decade. You can see that certain stablecoins (Tether, USDC) are stable and have held their peg for years and years. You can then dive deeper and try to understand the maths and programming that goes into creating a synthetic peg to an asset. You can research and study how MAKER/DAI works and how you can have algorithmic stablecoins (DAI) vs digital IOUs (USDT) and choose your risk tolerance.

When you say you can't trust crypto, that's one of the dumbest things you can possibly say. And you can trust your corrupt Indonesian companies? And you can trust your corrupt politicians? You can understand the Indonesian stock market, and where did that lead you? Yeah, a lot of good that did you, right?

The beauty about crypto is that you don't have to trust anything. The code is visible for all and the inner workings of algorithmic stablecoins is one example of that. You can see transactions on chain and see whales buying and selling and you don't need to trust what you see and hear on tv/media. Stop having such a negative opinion of this amazing opportunity that is crypto. It's literally the best way to invest your money and is the exact cure for your situation, and you STILL doubt it.

Yeah retards like this guy >>62789015 are the ones that get pumped and dumped on because they have no critical thinking whatsoever. It's a sad thing that they were probably born with a low IQ so it's not their fault, but that is natural selection for you. A fool and his money are easily parted. I have a neighbor that has a low IQ and whenever I run into him outside I try to talk to him because I genuinely feel sorry for him and want to help him. Last time I talked to him he told me his aunt died and he got like $50 thousand dollars from her after she died and I was happy for him and told him to not spend it quickly and try to save a good chunk of it, in case of emergencies and such. Well guess what? He spent it all and has nothing left. Why? Because he has a very low IQ and has a learning disability. His mom died and now he has to take care of his grandmother, then he goes out and spends all this money like the retard he is. He talks like a retard and is slightly cross eyed. That's what I imagine this guy >>62789015 looks like.

Then have the 95% of your assets in stablecoins and the other 5% inside positions with sell limit order/stop losses. This would literally have saved OP from a disaster like the Indonesian market crash. I will say it again, crypto is the textbook example cure for the position OP is in right now. You speak as if you need to hold btc or eth 100% in spot or something. Crypto is the way out of your position OP.

it goes to you, or shares are bought back or it is reinvested
if they have dividend obligations but rocky profits they dilute stock on your ass.
profit in an etf? where does that money come from?
most high dividend etfs underperform low dividend etfs or the underlying
and there are a shitton of scams out there, eg. yeildy, that prey on dividendcels, they make no money and just endlessly dilute
im sure the indonesia market has a bunch of that

There's only one thing worth buying in all of "crypto" and that is Bitcoin. Almost all of the rest of it is scams. I'll exempt Monero from that because it's trying to solve the privacy problem, and Tether is useful for international trade, but those are pretty much the only two. Even Ethereum was a premine scam that turned into an eternal high school science fair project.

If dividends are such a big focus for you, I assume it's because you want a steady/fixed income from your investments. But in that case, it would've been a better idea to buy bonds instead. Hindsight is 20/20, but if you had sold your ~10 000$ worth of stocks and bought US 30 year bonds at current yields you'd be making ~540$ a year.
>but money went bye-bye
Sucks ass, you just have to start saving again. The US and EU stock market are at ATH or within 5% of ATH, but the AI bubble will not burst for years to come so buy their stocks, if you can, and also buy bonds which are on sale right now.

Hello. it's 7.40 here. I just woke up and I'm already very tired. vision of doomed future keep appearing in my head. This isn't just about losing at stock trading, but about the general livelihood. It feels this country has reached a dead end. there's absolutely not a single positive at all. everything is bleak and there's no fixing this. even if it somehow gets fixed, it'd take decades of suffering. the result of 2 years of Prabowo regime. it's only been 2 years. TWO years, and he already managed to ruin this country and its future prospect this much. There's nothing much I can do as a talentless guy who's forced to go to "normal route" to build life: working as a corporate slave.

I will listen to advice from this thread and study my hardest to trade US stocks and ETFs. maybe I could even buy ETF of promising emerging markets as well. The biggest barrier for me is the entry cost. buying USD with Rp, the bank already robs me with 2% spread. buying US stocks cost me 0.6% of broker free. that's like -2.6% immediately. it'd be much harder for me to make profit with US stocks. I don't know if I can do this, but I have no choice. I have to do this. I want financial freedom. I want to be free. I'll try even if I'd end up dying. the alternative is being permanently poor or dead anyway. I will die fighting.

I bought this stock. +2.1% I haven't made profit yet. this is the disadvantage of buying US stocks as foreigner. I usually take profit at 3-10% in Indonesian stocks when I short swing trade, but it's difficult to do this with US stocks. I have no choice but to go big swing every time because of the jewish spread + fee.
>>
>>62791685
As a detour from the main thread, for anyone who has wondered why bother tokenizing stocks and other traded assets, it's this. Lots of people don't have access to world markets because of capital controls, or have access but only through rapacious, politically connected and semi-monopolistic local brokers taking an unreasonable skim off the top. The value of tokenizing the S&P is to allow the same access to American assets that you and I fellow amerifags have to people like Indonesanon.
>>
>>62791705
Another way to beat spread is by using leverage/margin trading, but it's really not my style to use leverage. I like it when I could average down when needed... maybe I should just abandon this trading style and learn how to efficiently use leverage with auto stop loss / trailing stop order... abandoning trading style that made me consistent profit, that I've honed for over 5 years.... ugh this is gonna be difficult.
>>
>>62791685
Also a thought, this might not be possible or might not make sense, but you should research whether interactive brokers is available and legal in your country and what the terms of accessing it are for Indonesian citizens / residents if it is. It's the best cross border stock broker by far if not gimped by local rules.
>>
>>62791730
I can use IBKR, but they don't have legal license from the financial regulatory bodies here, so I use named local broker (Ajaib) to start trading US stocks, just to feel safer.

Decades of market manipulation and fraudulent companies (especially state owned and startups that listed within the last 5 years) finally blew up coincidentally within the worst political regime that introduced the most retarded policies. This isn't something avoidable or can be fixed by voting the "right" president, culturally, Indonesian people embraced corruption.

Philippines was ruined by the japanese who massacred civilians by the hundreds of thousands. Then Americans destroyed what was left of Manila with point blank howitzer shots to kill the Japs. PH was perhaps the greatest place in asia at one point, called 'pearl of the orient'. Besides that, Americans can't into colonialism; they only care that someone is "not communist" (see also: japan, vietnam, south korea, ...). They left it all in the hands of a few corrupt families. its no surprise that it is a mess. PH was going to be independent in 1946.

The only play in any of these countries is to do nothing remotely related to the stock markets. What happened with india and indonesia is, sadly, just a taste of what's to come. When american jews inevitably pull out because of Muh Headline, it all collapses like a house of cards. You fuckers should learn some history and see how many times (S)EA has been totally rugpulled. It's a shame, but that's the way things go. It was never about uplifting these countries or convergence. The next Asian run up will have you chasing the top because jews are never going to let (Your) investments run up. They'll just pick the thing that suits them best which nobody owns significant amounts of.

Huh... wait. I just came to a realization that IHSG being kicked out to Standalone Market could pontentially cause S&P and Moodys to kick the Indonesian Bond Rating to non-investment grade since their delegates were present at the meeting with Danantara & MSCI (Indonesia play-pretend """"SWF"""") delegates 3 days ago, which was definitely a factor of downgrading to Standalone Market.

Uhh... now Indonesia becoming Zimbabwe and Argentina 2.0 (hyperinflation) is pretty realistic... fuck. even getting good at US stocks won't help me if this happens. Whatever, I'll not try to think about this. I'll simply kill myself when all hope is lost and pray that after-life or reincarnation isn't a thing. 1 life is more than enough. The issue is 99% are indian scams.
There will soon be 10-20 cryptos soon that will be used by everybody .
It's going to be similar to Https secure web protocol that is currently used by every website.
There will be a protocol similar to TCP/IP + https layer that securely transmits web information . There will be crypto currencies (crypto = cryptography) that will eventually transmit money securely on the internet.
this will be true for both banks and the people.
Right now it's hard to tell which would emerge, and it's mostly hype.

Determine whether you sell before it gets worse, or prepare for a potential decade-long hold

Before you go whole hog into US stocks, work out whether you'll get fucked by local taxes and other costs first. IIRC foreigners have to pay US taxes on dividends. Theoretically. In a country like Indonesia, I don't know what enforcement of that would look like; your broker might know, or a local financial advisor

Consider whether to save up and lump sum into the blue chips; will they survive the regime? What are their prospects?

As other anons have said, putting your money into stablecoins is not an absurd thing to do, and depending on taxes neither is swing trading crypto. But you will be vulnerable to wrench attacks if your country is as much of a shithole as you say it is.

They're getting removed from the emerging market index, which means most Western stock holders are about to get force liquidated out of the market.

It's actually a really bullish long term setup, blood in the street and all that, if the underlying property right and rule of law concerns that didn't trigger the removal get addressed or aren't as bad as MSCI thinks they are (I have no clue either way)
>>
>>62794535
It's just foreign investors fleeing the market en masse, already over Rp100 trillion ($5.5 billion) exit YTD little by little every single day. The reasons are multi-layered, but primarily caused by 2 things
1. the Stock Exchange lack of good governance and regulations, which allow some whales/controlling shareholders to pump their worthless stocks sky high with the goal of using MSCI investors as exit liquidity. I believe MSCI felt deceived by this manuver so they punished the whole market for it.
2. Politics. The current regime is blatantly DESTROYING the country economy with their extreme corruption and consolidation of power (every top ranking positions are taken by military guys (the president is military dude, the son-in-law of Soeharto, one of THE worst corruptor in world history). don't ask me why and how he got elected. I will explain what happened to the Russia Index when MSCI downgraded it to a standalone market.

The timeline is as follows:
February 28, 2022: MSCI launched an official consultation regarding the investability of Russian equities.

On March 2, 2022, MSCI formally announced that Russian securities would be removed from the MSCI Emerging Markets Indexes.

One week before the official consultation, information "leaked," and the big guy knew.
Everyone sold everything, and the Russia Index dropped from 3,440 to 1,600.

If the same thing happens to IDX Composite, it will drop from 5,200 to the 2,000 range.
>>
>>62794903
Indonesia is kinda different. there's already a strong desire from MSCI to downgrade from Emerging to FRONTIER for a year already, so since 2026, IHSG went on a strong bear where foreign investors slowly selling their position, -40% already. the sell off already started since the beginning of the year, not yesterday. so if IHSG goes from 5200 to 2000ish after already been down -40% YTD... that's like super overkill. suicide case would skyrocket for sure. and I could be one of them.
>>
>>62794908
-40% is a gift for youngish people with access to the local exchange who can stock pick the crash. That's an opportunity to buy low. As someone still working and drawing a paycheck, I'd be thrilled for a 40% crash in American markets as long as it didn't take the economy down with it / I kept my job. Don't get suicidal, take it as an opportunity to buy cheap.

I have great disdain for the mass movement of third worlders flooding the economically more successful countries around, but on a personal level... seems like it's the best option for you, just saying.

I just went home from work
IHSG today opened -5%, closed at -3.64%
better than expected, but this is also due to IDX intervention to promptly changed the floor from -15% to -7%. the purpose is obviously to avoid circuit breaker at -8% for reputational purpose. fucking scums.
The CEO of the IDX also gave an interview and he said "I don't know why MSCI want to downgrade Indonesia". a statement so very stupid I thought he was just pretending to be retarded, but there's a possibilty he's that retarded.

Anyway, going forward it's probably gonna rebound for a bid and then they'll torture the market for the next 6 months in a slow bearish manner as foreign investors exit little by little every single day. I don't care. not my problem anymore.

Moving on from IHSG, with the help of workplace AI subscription, I've started learning US stocks intensively starting with tech stocks. I asked for Top 10 according to combination of market cap + liquidity for Big/Mid/Small cap for each Sector (total 30 stocks for each sector) and read through profiles, financials and chart technicals of every single one of them. I plan to study 1 sector / day. Honestly tech big cap stocks like MSFT, NVDA, AAPL scare me. the charts are fucking exponential, reminds me of Indonesian meme moon stocks like WBSA, RLCO, BREN, DSSA aka stocks that MSCI find problematic.

I'm a swing trader with bias on technical trend, so according to my ass, for short swing...
for Mid Cap Stocks, I found these interesting: DDOG, SNOW, ZS, MDB, HUBS, DT, ON
for Small Cap: CRDP. VECO, POWI, PEGA, PRGS, RPD

thoughts?

I really hate BBCA because of its premium valuation the dividend yield during its normal pre-MSCI judgment period, it was consistently 2-3%. too small. I like BMRI the best for its higher dividend yield and growth. Now sitting at 15%++ yield, assuming div.payout ratio is about the same. but no one really knows especially after BMRI's involvement in BYAN's hostile takeover by palm oil mafia backed by the corrupt government.

INDF is great because of its predictable movement, whenever the price went towards or below 6000, I always buy a lot and always made profit because it always rebounded to over 7000. slow but steady. very nice for a long swing trading. for ICBP, same group as INDF, so I'd rather buy INDF only.

But ALL stocks are down and the market is on an extreme bearish trend anywya, so nothing matters.

yes, but she's a NEET WEEB. if my parents die, she'll definitely be doomed cuz she's too socially anxious to find a husband and I refuse to take care of her.

Yes and I'm trying to fix that.

Yes I work in SCBD at one of the stock brokerage companies. everyone is so stressed here. nothing goes right in this country. Man, I really want to work at a foreign brokerage like CGS International, Maybank or JP Morgan, but I don't know how. one of the recruiters contacted me once but he ghosted me immediately. fucking asshole.

American tech companies are overvalued, if you look at european small and mid caps there are good opportunities like Vallourec, LDC SA or Gedeon Richter.

Truth
In reality I expect some virtually unknown 98% premined pos spaghetti codeware abomination to be the chosen replacement to USD when the chips fall (before it implodes from vibecoding slop breaking the chain some day) while btc/xmr continue to crab in price action but continue to grow in use without being talked about outside of highly technical circles (which by default excludes post covid chans)
