When did you realize that you are probably doomed?
>>62794861It's easy to get a job (for shit pay and no benefits)
>>62794861Was his major gender studies or something?
>>62794861What's his Ph.D. in, and what is the job market like for people with it?I've told this story before on 4chan. I went back to grad school 18 years ago during the 2008 meltdown. One night I was out drinking with one of my classmates, and our waitress started talking to us. Keep in mind we were at a state university, not some high-priced private college. She was worrying about her student loan debt. She had $300,000 in student loan debt (at a state school, how the fuck do you even do that) because she got a bachelor's, master's, and was now on her Ph.D., in "ethnomusicology". When she walked away to get our drinks, my classmate turned to me and said, "What in the FUCK do you do with a degree in 'ethnomusicology'?" We stared at each other. The answer was obvious.
>>62794861>>62794965>>62794969Ok, I managed to find the article, and while the WSJ masked it below a whiteout image, an "inspect source" got me the following:>The Salt Lake City native has applied to more than 2,300 jobs since he graduated from Princeton in 2024 with his Ph.D. in chemical engineering. So he has a degree in a useful subject, but OTOH the chemical industry in the U.S. is rather moribund and has been for decades.Still, he should have been networking during his grad school years. For a lot of STEM Ph.D.s they get sponsored by their company to go finish their Ph.D., then work for that company after graduating. It's possible he did this and it fell through (company failed, manager died and replacement had other candidates in mind, etc.), in which case the fallback would be to get help from the other candidates in his program to have them hire him in.When I graduated, a professor had offered to get me a job with his "old" company (which he was still doing contracts for). That fell through because the company totally collapsed into a smoking heap of garbage, but I did find another job pretty soon after (it was a shitty job but still a job).
>>62794965Worse, chemical engineering. Tranny degree for people too stupid for tech and science
>>62794989Chemical mastery requires a higher iq and they are protected as state assets during war.No one gives a shit about replacable tech cronies.
>>62794861Looks like he is winning and owning the libs hardcore mode!
>>62795015Ohhhh that's why they're not finding jobs. Fucking faggot
>>62794978>Let me explain why you should technically only be able to get a job via who you know and that's the most efficient function of prestigious institutions
>>62794861>PhD.
hit the mines or the oil wells faggots
>>62794861I'm doing fine, you people are just weak faggots.>factory wagie>live with mom>frugal>fairly cheap hobbiesThat's it. You win.
>>62794978>>62795103
lmao i was just gonna post that it's fucking OVER for wagies not but honestly i know a dude with a chemical engineering degree and he works some shitty job in a factory owned by a big pharma company and makes like 20 an hour. i think chemical engineering is just ass. electrical and civil engineering make bank. the rest of engineering is a fucking meme.
>>62795138what about having sex with women tho u tell them u live in ur mom's basement and work at a funkpop warehouse? how does that go over?
>>62794978>Still, you shouldn't expect a job unless you count on nepotism or luckNo kidding?
>>62795289it's called networking and some guy from an elite university like princeton should know how to do it not spamming out resumes like he's applying to work in a fast food joint. read the book "the two hour job search" (written by some guy at the career center at duke biz school) on how to get jobs when u actually have elite and/or specialized skills.
wsj loves doing articles where they find losers and then write a humiliating article about them, they had a great one about people who lost it all holding crypto bags i was like lmao where do they even find these dudes
>>62795285If they think you're hot, it doesn't matter.>but how do you know if a girl thinks you're hot? They'll literally tell you. If a girl doesn't tell you she thinks you're hot/cute, she's dating you for your money or status.
>>62794861Blve collar chads win again.Enjoy endless unemployment you pencil pushers.
>>62795317have u heard of this thing called a "lie" sometimes women do it
>>62794978Kek, this has to be the most shit post I have read in 2026, and that's quite an achievement. Most shit posts are just garbage. This is on a different level. I cant imagine the sheer magnitude of complacent boomer NPC energy required to write this post. I think you should go back to pleddit or faycebook.
>>62795355that's literally how u get a job from college and/or grad school. u do an internship, actually work conscientiously and don't whine about the pay or whatever, and then when u graduate u get an offer. or u can just like go on linkedin and email ur resume into a 1000 blackholes that say "255 others have applied for this role in the last 24 hours" or whatever lmao
A lot of incredibly stupid, naive people thought that by getting a degree, they would become automatically qualified to obtain a job. While I was going to an expensive university (which I thought was necessary to become an investment banker), I met an enormous number of students who genuinely believed this. This is ultimately a problem with the education system and poor parenting.Fortunately I was clever enough to have worked a variety of full time jobs while going to university, so I ended up finding a niche in which I now make tremendous amounts of money. Setting that niche aside, I was able to get a variety of jobs while attending university while my peers were doing unpaid internships or simply "studying", believing in the notion that their studies would reward them.In reality, employers do not care about your studies and they will hire people with actual work experience over you. They will also hire through referrals because referrals are more trustworthy than random applicants that no one knows what to expect from. By working low level white collar jobs, whether they are part of the industry you're studying in or not, you open yourself to more opportunities and jobs that you would not otherwise have. I only hire referrals because I don't trust random applicants on indeed. Other companies do the same. If you're a reclusive incel chud that never goes outside and talks to anyone, it's no surprise that you will not find a job. I know people who have gotten jobs by making friends with people in their various social circles or sports clubs. I see a lot of seething from people who complain about nepotism or hiring through connections, but I guarantee that anyone in the position of a hiring manager, executive, or business owner, would prefer to hire someone that can be trusted versus a random applicant. Speaking from first hand experience, I've had new employees off indeed that have; stolen company data, sued the company over bogus allegations, etc.
>>62794861White Anglo-Saxon Christian Male? The Jews most hated Enemy?
not surprising, PHd signals the following undesirable traits that employers do not have time for in the current economy:>arrogant and hard to train (knows it all already)>analysis paralysis (takes 7+ years to finish)>overcomplicates simple things (writes long dissertation about well-understood topics)>assumes complex things will be simple (what could be harder than My Research?)>bookish and idealistic (spends all day in library/lab)>ethical about others shortcomings, but not self (inured to publish or perish mentality from retarded time wasting and self-aggrandizing supervisors)>poor communication skills (ideal of communication is monologuing in a lecture hall)i would lie about this credential if i had it, or if i were working on one (ABD) i would only advertise the completed MA/MS.
>>62794861Did he try the local restaurants, or maybe mowing lawns?here's a secret. people need people to do shit that actually needs done. cleaning my house needs done. my car needs maintained and repaired. new roofs need put on. sitting in an office doing fuck-all with your degree isn't doing anything. it's clicking shit on a keyboard and screen.Princeton PHD motherfucker can go wash dishes. or work at the 10,000 warehouses probably within 20 miles of his house.there are jobs. he's just not taking any he's deemed below him.
>>62796494Smart enough to understand chemical engineering not smart enough to tick, nig, trans, female, refugee
>>62794989Chemical engineering is science, illiterate negro. Chemistry + physics. Yeah he should have studied CS so he could learn fizzbuzz like you.
>>62794861Doomed to unemployment? I don't really care as long as I have a computer and something to eat. If I'm actually doomed i.e. society is gonna collapse, I won't be much worse off than those with office jobs.
I'm making very good money in a job AI can already do. Just saving every penny and throwing it into VOO. If AI implodes i still have a job, if AI is real im unemployed and living off dividends
>>62796526Tbf I'm not sure getting paid $15 an hour is somehow filling the hole for a chemical engineer. Yes you make a point he can do the jobs an illiterate high school dropout can do, does that really meaningfully reframe the conversation that Princeton chemical engineer can't get a chemical engineer job?
>>62794861These headlines are always fake and gay. I don't know anyone with a PhD that cannot find an above-average paying job.
>>62794861>Government issued education>Government issued student loans>Government issued rat raceAnd he wonders why he can't find a job?
>>62795355>how dare you expect this guy to get a high-end job the way 90% of people get high-end jobs
>>62794969>Ethnomusicology is the multidisciplinary study of music in its cultural context. The discipline investigates social, cognitive, biological, comparative, and other dimensions. >>62795138>im proud to be an exploited slave, im such a heterosexual
>>62795768>I know people who have gotten jobs by making friends with people in their various social circles or sports clubsGolden advice. Meeting people in serious clubs has a much higher ROI than anything else, mass applying to jobs signals you view yourself as a low value prole (and are one). >I see a lot of seething from people who complain about nepotism or hiring through connections, but I guarantee that anyone in the position of a hiring manager, executive, or business owner, would prefer to hire someone that can be trusted versus a random applicant. The real truth is people you like and trust are better than other applicants. Most non-technical roles could be done anyone, hell even a good deal of technical ones you could be useful in a few months or a year. If you're disliked at your current job, you're better off finding a new job and being more likeable there. Changing your image takes way too long, it's better to change your job.
>>62797434princeton is a private university. you don't take out loans to do a phd.
>>62794969no one has $300,000 in loans for a state college even at the masters level, normies eat up these fake stories so they have an excuse to be uneducated plebs.
>>62794861Same. I'm not a Ph. D. but I have a college degree and being out of work 10 months I don't even get responses from delivery jobs like Amazon or basic office or warehouse work.
>>62800829Yeah, this post is obvious boomer copypasta shit they pass around on facebook. You should go to college if you are either (1) studying something that will get you a good career or (2) your parents are rich and you're going for the experience.
>>62800853it's cuz we're in a recession but the ai bubble is masking it. they should have been cutting rates but trump decided to do tariffs and a pointless war and now they have to raise them instead.
>>62800856the wildest thing is how fake u realize all those old blue collar boomer tales of "i would have gone to college but i couldnt afford it" bruh a year tuition at like berkely was $300 u could wait tables in the summer and pay it in cash. boomers are so full of shit.
>>62794989>>62796687Chemical engineering has calculus and physics classes along with chemistry.Computer science also requires calculus and physics.
>>62800867CS doesn't require either
>>62794861>When did you realize that you are probably doomed?I'm afraid I might actually make it
>>62800863Boomers just lie constantly, and I guess they feel comfortable doing so because people couldn't google things until relatively recently. It's amazing how their parents and grandparents clocked them as a generation of solipsistic sociopaths, the Me Generation; and every subsequent generation independently came to the same conclusion.
