I was noticing this breakdown even when I was going through school maybe ~14ish years ago. Every single kid wants to have a special medical disorder because it gives them sympathy from adults who treat most kids like garbage, and it gives them free shit and special accommodation that no other kid gets. Every kid has to finish tests on time, but they don't have to do that. Every kid requires sitting in the same room taking the same tests and exercises. Except them, they can take an exam wherever, whenever. All it takes is asking their parents to shop for a doctor, and doctors are eager to please because they aren't the ones sitting in that classroom, and they get another permanent resident in the medication plantation giving people narcotics because they don't want to sit in a chair for 6 hours a day.And sure, some kids really do need this treatment. At the same time, if a kid becomes unruly enough to require every single one for something as mild as ADHD, they should be forced to hire a tutor or homeschool.

Anyone else teach intl school? One of the perks is my kid gets to go for free when he's old enough but I'm not sure I want him to. The kids here are beyond spoiled brats, more like feral animals. We have good teachers at my school and the curriculum is challenging, just the student body is terrible.

I hadn't figured out my taste for it until later in life and it went under the radar. I teach because I like to see progress in my students. Makes me feel like am making a difference in the world. Can't progress institutionally without the blessing of the old lady Mafia controlling education. By when a student has a light bulb moment, that shit is life changing. I get asked to right rec letters all the time and have personally helped over 50 students get jobs or scholarships. Yes I am a poor fag making 60k but hey I am actually helping people. 5 years middle/highschool+ 4 years higher Ed exp. Math, Linguistics and computer science. Always the new guy.
