The % increase matters less the more capital he has as it still meaningfully increases his capital down the road.

What's important is gaining capital fast, which he did (I mean relatively to what he had).

Capital is everything and options are borrowed capital.

>The % increase matters less the more capital he has as it still meaningfully increases his capital down the road.
That is not correct. You are speaking from the perspective as if it was guaranteed that he might get 3 such lucky strikes in a row and then he will forever quit. We both know that will not be the case, he won't quit at a high gain.
If you continue playing, generally something with like a 40% gain rate has also a 60% chance of being wrong. If you constantly do such risky bets with the full capital -- and it doesnt matter if it it's from a base of 5k or 50k -- you will eventually encounter a streak of 3 or 4 losses in a row, crushing your capital base.
Talk with an LLM about it, ask it about Kelly sizing, which optimizies this relationship.
>>
Right, shit's fucked desu, what can i throw 3k into which will make gains next year, gonna do the old "all in and forget it exists for a year" strat, i'm thinking anything to do with RAM, thoughts?
>>
>>62821947
No, I mean that he quickly increased his capital and now less than +40% is also fine as even a +20% is still more in absolute gain than the +40% he previously did.

>generally something with like a 40% gain rate has also a 60% chance of being wrong.
What the fuck has his percentage GAIN has to do anything with his CHANCE?

His percentage gain is so high because he was leverage so hard. It's relative to his previous OWN capital. By using options he borrowed CAPITAL, which is why the move AMPLIFIED his GAINS and thus created the high % gain (relative to his OWN capital). That's nothing to do with CHANCE.
>>
Is it better to invest in individual stocks or an ETF following the S&P?
>>
>>62821964
That depends on your holding window. If you plan to just invest and hold for your investment to slowly appreciate over years, go for the ETF. But if you're daily or weekly trading volatility, individual stocks are typically the go-to.

No, because they get taxed. Dividends are a meme unless you're investing very large sums of money for passive income. You want an accumulating ETF for long term holding.

Dividends are only worth it in a tax advantage account like TFSA, RRSP, Roth IRA, etc. Otherwise, just go with growth companies (they can create shareholder value with splits (nominal, but bullish) and buybacks)
>>
>>62821964
Personally, I've put most of my money in index ETFs, and a smaller position in a few individual stocks that I believe in a little bit more.
>>
>>62821991
You need to make the calculations yourself based on how much you're planning to invest. Laws differ based on where you live. Some are stupider than others, but they all tax you in the end. If you hold an accumulating ETF for a few years you should, again depending on where you live, be eligible for tax deductions, and all you'll be taxed are the capital gains on your investments. There are likely very relevant ways where you'd stand to gain much more from individual stocks and their dividends, depending on how well they do. But again, you'd have to calculate those yourself. A simple dividend trap that many fall into is buying a depreciating stock that pays out high dividend yields. Your investment can go down in value quicker than what you make back from dividends alone. Basically, you'd be slowly bleeding out while thinking you're actually fine.

I think healthcare is underappreciated.
Cancer, dementia, and bowel health are the big 3 sectors iirc. Now we're getting targeted gene therapies, biologics and stuff. And with AI, I'm expecting to see big moves in R&D for personalized ttearments, protein folding, and novel drugs ... eventually.

What are you talking about? Win chance has everything to do with return on capital. In an efficient market, no market of participants would take the chance of, on a fair coin (i.e. 50:50 odds), only having a 20% payout. It mathematically does not make sense.

Talk with an AI about it.

I think metals are underrated. Everything is increasingly vulnerable to an ai zero day and rocks aren't vulnerable.
>>
>>62822027
Only if you have them in physical custody. They aren't immune to getting AI zero-day'd into oblivion. If you hold digital rocks or goo, it's as vulnerable as any other asset if such an attack were to occur. It just depends on what's hit and where. The brokerage or the exchange could get compromised. You've read the news about AIs living in bank accounts, yeah?
>>
>>62822022
Not really. I have crohn's disease and the meds I take (Remdantry) is a monthly infusion, and it costs about $40k/year (its like 97% subsidized).
Its a highly specific medication, gives me QOL and, notably, is still taken even if in remission. Thats one patient for one specific illness. Think about how many targeted therapies (eg based on genetic history or cancer presention) there could be.

Now mind you, most drugs take about $8-12m and 10 years to come to market, but companies have patents for 25 years or whatever. Most companies make 1-3 meds, license or sell or get acquired. The problem is that Phase 1+2 trials are most likely to get it cancelled, and I figure AI can streamline and predict potential pathways, applications, and interactions
>>

They are "diluting themselves" because the bet with the convertible notes paid off for the counterparties. Theranos and WeWork had the same kind of convertible notes

It's just a trade-off they "get charged $72.4 billion" because they have to remove this debt from the liabilities side of the balance sheet

That 2 times leverage calculation wasn't done considering daily rebalancing leveraged ETFs, just a hypothetical calculation. The daily rebalance is the thing that induces the volatility drag.
There is unfortunately no real pure expression of 2x leverage. It would require a lender with infinite patience who doesn't charge interest. Margin is close to it, but you can reach an "absorbing state" where you have to crystallize losses (margin call), so the actual leverage if your broker grants 2x margin usage on NAV is less than 2x leverage.

Only if they run out of money or their investments collapse and a credit shock happens. However the reflexively in usa markets is so great, every dip is bought. Because of the shape of consumer demand they also dont give a fuck if the average American doesnt influence consumer demand because majority of economic activity is driven by people who gain as the stock market goes up. Inflation? Their debts are cheaper. Debts drive stock markets higher. They releverage their debts. Meanwhile chinese wealthy 1% were scrambling to find out how to pay their windfall overseas tax bill Meanwhile an American stock holder would just buy, borrow, die

China has an economy that is more like the 1970s/80s Japan economy where it uses state-led investments and debt to focus on high employment growth.

China not only explicitly allowed their housing/property bubble to collapse instead of trying to save it like Japan, but they burst it intentionally themselves early with the "three red lines" policy. And then they refused to bail out the private companies that failed while Japan did everything possible to save their zombie companies.

China's focus is more on employment and growth rather than stocks which is why their stock market will pretty much always suck.

>Here is what “well secured” means in practice. Roughly $24 billion of bank lending to CoreWeave sits in separate legal vehicles, backed by specific assets: the Nvidia chips, the data centers, the long-term contracts with customers like Meta and OpenAI. The money is released in stages as projects hit milestones. If CoreWeave cannot pay, those lenders do not queue up with everyone else. They take the assets. JPMorgan estimates the largest American banks and Japan’s MUFG hold $1 billion to $3 billion each, mostly in this protected form, and their direct lending to the parent company is limited to a $2.5 billion shared credit line.

>Then there is the other pile. About $21 billion of CoreWeave’s debt was issued by the parent company itself, roughly $11 billion of it in convertible notes. No chips or buildings are pledged behind it. It rests on a promise to pay. It is also, in the words of JPMorgan’s own note, the paper “bearing the brunt of the market’s concern.” That is why it trades at 15 percent while the banks sleep fine.

>So who holds the unprotected paper? Mostly not banks. Corporate bonds are bought by pension funds, insurance companies, and the bond funds inside retirement accounts. To be exact about it: your 401(k) almost certainly does not own CoreWeave bonds by name. What it owns is the layer CoreWeave’s unsecured bonds sit in, the corporate debt layer that absorbs losses after secured lenders have taken their collateral. And that layer has been absorbing AI paper at a historic pace. Big tech now accounts for about 10 percent of all investment-grade bond issuance worldwide, up from under 1 percent in 2024.

>A new report from Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund and the Open Markets Institute, co-authored by Maya Jenkins and Matthew Scherer, counts nearly $4 trillion in debt tied to AI chips and data centers across just nine companies, more than the entire subprime mortgage market at its 2007 peak, with much of it held by pension funds, life insurers, and shadow banks. It is the same conclusion JPMorgan’s note quietly confirms from the other direction: if the losses come, they are not scheduled to land on the institutions that built the structure.

Yeah I bought some with my money earned in mainland this past year as a strategic to get in early with my new job earnings. Pretty much universally anything I have bought went up 5% and then fell 25% shortly after. Even gold. So now I am really considering liquidating everything and moving it to my American accounts. Before the market opens let's look at the daily tarot reading.

The Moon
Death
The Empress

Today's market reading featuring The Moon, Death, and The Empress points to a journey from confusion to renewal. The Moon introduces an environment of high volatility and hidden risks driven by emotional uncertainty. This is followed by Death, signaling a sharp, necessary correction or the end of an unsustainable trend. Finally, The Empress emerges to promise a stable, fertile recovery and lucrative growth once the storm clears.

>“The vessels belonging to Sinokor Shipping Company have committed the highest number of crossing violations over the past 3 months, and so far, appropriate enforcement actions have been taken against at least 7 of them,” the PGSA said in a social media post, without specifying what those actions were.

>“All cargo owners, stakeholders, and insurance service providers are hereby warned that as of November 1, legal action will be taken against all vessels of this company,” the PGSA said in its post.

>Meanwhile Sinokor is the world’s largest owner of supertankers and has emerged as a vital cog in keeping the world’s oil moving, by pouncing on the lucrative trade of getting barrels out of Hormuz. The company’s ships accounted for nearly 40% of all the crude oil that flowed out from the Strait of Hormuz last month, more than the next three biggest players combined, according to data from intelligence firms and maritime databases.

will it ever stop?

I see. This must means the crab regime is ending, and the ANT IPO will clear the skies for the golden bull run. It's over, crabos. We are so back.
>>
Why is BP down? I did all my due belligerence and was sure this would go up. I hate it.
>>
>>62822436

is due belligerence when you yell "NIGGER" at your tickers over and over?

personally I just keep telling my EWZ "Brown women owe me sex" and it keeps going up. Try being nice to your shares boss.

Yes but it will require Death which is finality but the Empress promises it isn't the end.

The Moon Signals the last days of Fall, the Dead of Winter will blanket everything, until the son like a king Empress ushers in a fertile Spring.

It's one way to look at it anyway.

I'm convinced the racism is ironic, most anons here would gladly fold if a cute black girl with big titties was issued to them as a state mandated gf. But I agree, we need to scare away the redditors one way or another.
