I make $1600 a week after taxes and live with my elderly boomer parents who don’t charge me rent and still feel like I can’t really afford anything

I can easily spend my half my pay check on ordering in and cigarettes and booze

I think things have gotten too expensive man
>>

Like I was looking at guitars the other day because I’m in the market for a new car and a decent new one is $1500, that’s not including the amp and assorted accessories

I was shopping for a tablet a few days later and same shit, can’t seem to find anything decent for less than a thousand

Even fancy restaurants, if you include appetizers and good wine you can easily find yourself paying $300+ per head

why is shit so expensive these days
>>
I make $1090 a week after taxes. You are making good money for a single person. Your only problem is you can't plan well and doing dumb stuff like going to restaurants. Learn to cook. It will taste better and be way cheaper than 300 a person. I have been using every plate, which is the cheaper version of hello fresh (same company). Maybe start there. It is only $240 a month.

>I was shopping for a tablet a few days later and same shit, can’t seem to find anything decent for less than a thousand
Also I should add for the tablet. Why is it a big deal to you that they are over a thousand? I bought the iPad Pro M5 a year ago when it was a couple hundred cheaper, but it was still $1000. Not like you need a new tablet every year. I bought mine while paying rent.
>>
better question is why do you want a tablet in the first place
>>
>I spend 800 a week on food ciggies and booze
>”things have gotten too expensive”

Ok
>>
>>62845571
>in the market for a new car
Retard detected. Your lack of money is clearly due to your own stupidity with money.
>>
>>62845684
I got 12 power cycles on my iPad Pro M5 in a year. When I first got it I was playing Subnautica in bed, but then I realized I have a 5070ti downstairs....lol

Well those are all unnecessary expenses. You could be spending that money on stocks. You should just buy some tech stocks in companies researching quantum computing.
>>
the only real way to build any meaningful wealth is to live dramatically below your means and invest the difference for a long time. if you spend nearly what you make you will wake up in 20 years in the same position. then you can join the zoomies complaining about why you can never afford a house while you waste a house payment worth of money on door dash and addictions.
>>
>>62845693
I never said I do, I said I could
>>
>>62847500
If you can blow 800 a week but cant afford anything this is a (You) problem.
>>
>>62845571
>ordering in
go get your food lazy ass. I'm guessing the delivery charges stack up
>>
>>62845584
Can get a decent used tablet with a snapdragon cpu for $300. Used guitars on Reverb and Ebay.

Compromise or drop the cash.
>>
>>62845584
You're just stupid, like a woman. This is so retarded it has to be bait honestly so enjoy a (you)
>>
Things have obviously gotten way more expensive.

I don’t understand how the retards here don’t see that. I know I’m forced to share this board with literal retards, but surely these are bots.
>>
>>62845571
Similar situation for me. I only shop for myself and basic shit at the grocery store can easily total $70-$100+. I don’t even go out anymore and it still feels like a challenge to save money

I don’t know how people with families who make less do it
>>
>>62847697
I have a wife and 3 kids. I make 125k. We are poor as fuck.

Its crazy because in the 80s and 90s neither of my parents earned more than $15 an hour until like 1999. However, we had a 2 story, 4 bedroom house. Dad had a Silverado, mom had an astro van. Dad had a bass boat and we had a 3 wheeler. We had a 32 TV and nintendos. Never felt poor. Got new school clothes every year. We even took a summer vacation every year. What the actual fuck?
>>
>>62847805
Btw i know they were financed up to their eyeballs and neither of them saved shit for retirement. Because they are both retired and live on social security and credit cards.
>>
>>62847805
Well by comparison my dad made around that and my mom didn't work, but we were pretty poor and lived in a bad area. By doubling the pay you could live in a nice area no problem and have a lot more spending money for that truck and boat. It would be like making 150k today.
>>
>>62847676
likely either bad foreign actors or actual bots from the mega tech companies who want to poors to die off.

>>62847676
real costs are between 2-3x 200-300% what they were in 2020. 44% or whatever the government is saying today is complete bullshit.
>>
>>62847805
$15 an hour in the 90s was like 45 today, federal minimum wage back then was $4.25 i remember i got a summer job that paid $6 and i was like hell ya
>>
>>62845571
try suckin some peen on the side
>>
>>62849761
It doesn't work like that when a 100k has in 1990 costs half a million today. Inflation is more than just wage.
>>
>>62849819
>has
house
>>
>>62845571
>spend my half my pay check on ordering in and cigarettes and booze
If you didn't do that then you'd have a lot more money. You did this to yourself, so quit your whining you little faggot.
>>
>>62845571
make the same amount and not paying rent, can't really do anything without getting into debt. But I was able to use my earnings to pay for a surgery for my Dad and fix up the house / repairs, so at least there's that. Without the job I wouldn't have been able to help them.
>>
>>62845571
>low income
>ordering in
ngmi
>>
>>62845571
>$70,000+ a year
>can't afford anything
What overpriced shithole do you live in?
>>
>>62847805
>Read all this
>>62847817
>Then this
Your parents were financially retarded and lived paycheck to paycheck. I hope when you start a family you don't finance fucking everything.
>>
>>62845571
>$1600 a week
dude some people make that in a MONTH
>>
>>62845649
>can't plan well
OP is like me, he's over 30
What's my grand incentive to 'plan well and buy a house' when I don't have a wife. Retards like you and all the boomers asking stupid questions don't seem to get I don't want to date women in their 30s, if they wanted grandkids they shouldn't have fucked me financially for 10 years.
