Google is the company losing the least money on AI right now. Their strategy is to stay close enough to the AI performance frontier that they don't lose too much market share, and then just wait for their competitors to blow themselves up financially. In fact, I suspect that most of FAGMAN has similar plans to wait out the competition.

sometimes i think that AAPL will be the real ai winner at the end of day. by not spending any money on llms and not building any data centres theyre avoiding all the bs of the early stage. seems like AAPL are just waiting and watching with their massive war chest ready to see who fails and who wins and maybe buy some of the winners

The biggest problem with Apple is they aren't innovating anymore. They are 100% banking on the fact their cult based customers will keep buying the same fucking phone and shitty laptops every year simply for the status. Steve Jobs has to be rolling over in his fucking grave right now.

the apple watch was a new product under cook that dominated its product category. also they are intentionally diversifying revenue into services which is why u see more emphasis on apple tv, apple music, etc. oh and the new mac cpu architecture that lets the cpu and gpu share the system ram as needed is pretty innovative and makes the 512gb of ram in a mac studio effectively 500 gigs of gpu ram. your shitty intel pc can do that?

The apple watch, while a completely useless and unnecessary accessory was actually a good product for them i'll give them that. Apple TV is by far the worst of the streaming services and shouldn't exist. But people who buy apple computers are brainlets because you can build a computer better than anything apple releases for half the price. Apples big new innovation is a laptop with a touch screen. Fucking windows 8 systems did that a long time ago and nobody liked it. Oh and a smart phone that folds in half that creases and god forbid you get any dirt or sand in the hinge and it's toast.

At the time. Times change though, demand destruction is all the rage but demand creation is a top notch strategy. Just tell them they want it, then they buy it, and you get their money. You don't need some grand 5 year plan! When the time is right, look at what you got, whatever it is, and tell people who believe in you to buy things from you at a price you Fix so to speak. why do you think Nvidia would have a bad earnings? They will continue to print money and raise their guidance no matter what, The datacenter fud has no real impact on business for the foreseeable future. Its just the market chomping out for no reason, data centers don't have to be built only in Texas and the one that are being build or are scheduled to be built will continue to do so through 2028. If Anthropic doesn't fix the market next week Nvidia's earnings definitely will. After all, no fud can stand against cold hard money.

To avoid paying rent as fast as possible
>live out of your car -- approved
>buy a van and convert to a camper -- not approved
>buy land and place one of the following on it a) RV b) mobile home c) tiny home

re a v b v c
>RV sucks gets leaks but is permissible anywhere
>mobile home is made of american cheese and cardboard, explodes instantly
>tiny home had the benefits of the RV + durability/quality of an actual home

So logically
>buy plot of land with utils and add tiny home (ideally place under a rain cover)
>land appreciates, tiny home stays pristine

Then you have no rent bill anymore for like $100-150k. All cash goes straight to the bank, you can buy/build a house later and rent the tiny home out on the previous property or move it into the new one as an ADU.

Why isn't this the optimal path? Only thing better might be living out of your car until you have $500k for a house.

I mean you aren't wrong, but Apples entire model is "Our products are expensive so buy me because you don't want to look like a poorfag do you". Most the people I know with iPhones when I ask them why they got the iPhone their response is usually in regards to the UI, but their UI is almost identical to Android at this point so what fucking difference does it make? I looked into a tiny home because I’m an autist that just needs a nice stereo and a laptop to be happy. However thanks to (((zoning laws))) it’s nearly impossible unless someone with a normal house lets you live in their backyard. Some trailer parks accept them but then you’re just paying rent anyway with trash neighbors. The only solution is total boomer death. Housing should be available as a cheap commodity for people who just want the basics.

>>
>>62871425
Understandable. One aspect about the options market I am always mindful of and keeps me coming back to play is the concept of Fixed Risk. A contract, which is $0 in real money to actual real people who don't play bullshit games, can be exchanged for real money. The seller assumes risk by doing that. As a buyer, your maximum risk is capped by that price. So if you bought, say, a $130 hunk of horsehockey it'll turn to vapor in the worst case scenario, and you're out $130. The risk is Fixed that way. So when everything else looks so uncertain, at least that market offers you an OPTION you might say to PLAY and learn and grow for a fixed price. And as you have just said, you can take it or leave it anytime you like. There's something about that I like. It's not wild, it's just life. Maybe your 50/50 thinking there is coming from a framework where, I'm just guessing, you're going all-in on options. Doing that is a way to play, sure, but sounds a little too risky don't you think? Since you're buying and selling things, I suspect you have an appetite for risk. Why not learn more?

>Penny stocks all end the same
Also anon, idk about this. I am Canadian and we have a government account that we can invest under called a TFSA (Tax Free Savings Account). Margin isn't allowed under it, you can't write puts and you can only write covered calls, you can't buy crypto under it and you can't hold futures under it too but all of this can be kinda circumvented with etfs though. Also, you can't day trade. They will tax you if you trade too often, otherwise its all tax free. I was thinking of maxing out my contribution limit (40k) and going all in into Canadian penny stocks listed under the TSX venture exchange, US penny stocks aren't allowed either. I was reading a lawsuit about a guy who started with 15k and then spun it up to 600k with Canadian mining penny stocks, he was a professional trader though with 30 years of experience or something.

Interesting idea, limiting someone's options while offering them a way to "grow" money by "saving" it, all the while appealing to a crowd foaming at the mouth to not contribute any of it to taxes (public services). Not sure if I like that yet but I'm always open to learn more. I could guess what you might think, but it's more polite to ask. Now that's a neat story, a guy used his knowledge and expertise to buy/sell a thing, in whatever sequence of steps, that is nominally not a lot of money per lot (Less than 5 bucks). People like low prices because it increases accessibility. Then, when a thing is low in price it is accessible to many to buy. But when the price gets higher, closer to 5 bucks, it stops being a penny stock anymore. Almost as if the concept of a penny stock is a thing with a fixed price threshold, and that professional trader knew that and was able to spin gold from it. Smart guy I guess. What do you think?

Anyone here look at MPH Health care AG, ticker symbol: 93M1?

Its a German holding company with 95 percent of its holdings being M1 Kliniken, a cosmetic injections clinic chain with very healthy fundamentals and attractive growth and which itself is seemingly trading at a discount, and yet MPH Health Care AG trades at below 50 percent its NAV. Any thoughts here? Part of the reason its discounted is because it is a German small cap with M1 Kliniken having a market cap of around 370 million Euros and MPH Health Care AG which owns 66 percent of M1 Kliniken trading at around 120 million Euros.

You know, I mostly work inside the terminal and use Google's Antigravity in my PC. I still think Apple is the best choice compared to Linux. Linux is based. I used to keep Windows on my home PC for gaming, but I switched to Linux earlier this year and I love it. I'm also an autist, but a lot of distros are easy to install and use. And I use ChatGPT to help me figure out any issues I have. I'll never go back to Windows. Mac OS is fine but it's slowly being goyified into Windows.

LLMs make it a lot easier because it can fix stuff for you. I just take screenshots of terminal output and ask ChatGPT what to do. People like the extra liquidity, it helps narrow down price-time uncertainty which attracts some. The limits to that are still being tested and extended into individual underlyings instead of incedes, there's room to test the waters a bit there. The unfortunate thing about 0dte is the theta decay which discourages many. If there was a compassionate way to offer support intra-day on a daily basis to people with this issue, then if they come to know things they can play safe and fair and make some money for assuming risk instead of losing money wildly guessing on a basket index of bullshit 5 trillion dollar companies no one even understands or cares what they do, yet. Maybe dario is working on that. LOL

usually people just run an alpine docker container now, iirc
or run RHEL on the base server instance for whatever reason
some idiots will do a debian or ubuntu container just because they don’t know what they’re doing
>making the entire system effortless to back up
idk why you’d want to back up a whole instance
you usually have an idempotent way to build an image, and then you just re-deploy the image if it somehow fucks up.
idk why anybody would need to ever back up anything more than their home folder
>but it simply isn't user-friendly.
ubuntu now has an app store thingy for snap files, which I imagine still somehow fucks up occasionally
all the guides for shit are still going to tell people to install over the CLI tho, which would of course melt their fucking brain if they’re a normie

The problem is periodically he will hop of the actually belt of the treadmill and put his feet on the trim to stand still and then proceed to shadow box. That wouldn't even matter to me so much if he didn't make insanely loud grunts with every punch he throws. It's not just a locally annoying sound. The entire gym can hear it clear as crystal. A decade ago, I probably would have preferred using Linux because I could afford to waste an entire night troubleshooting a new NVIDIA driver—dealing with kernel rebuilds and a lot of core library updates like glibc. I guess I’m just getting older; I no longer find it fun or worthwhile to spend hours debugging the whole stack. While I realize an AI agent could automate parts of it, I don't trust them with root access—they are just as likely to nuke the entire system.

That's correct. Access to option tools like that are kept tightly controlled for safety, like behind a gate. As was mentioned before, some financial tool packages only offer things like selling covered calls. It's a liability issue, instead of educating their clients, financial service providers have a more affordable path to get their clients' money by having them remain ignorant. Then, they grant access to these tools if the client lies on a test, or better yet has AI take the test for them, the right way. It's a good system, and operates comfortably within the realm of what is ethical and good for the public because it spreads ignorance and dishonesty while transferring money from the client to the financial service provider. People really like that bullshit.

Interesting, MSFT. It could have pulled back, what gave you the inkling that might occur? Sorry it didn't work out but next time could get better. White knuckling sounds like anxious work, you oughta get paid for that emotional labor.

5 weeks is a nice time but you might find higher liquidity, and thus tighter spreads on expiry dates that are on the 3rd Friday of each month. Check the volume and open interest on different dates and if you're unsure, it's no pain to wait until you are sure to act before you do.

Keep up the good work!

I get that, I have had my ass kicked in that way before. What helped me is to watch the volume on some contracts for a while, sometimes intraday observation is all it takes. At low liquidity it's you and maybe 100 other traders just bullshitting, when you look at it that way it can be more fun to be part of a little community working together to determine fair prices instead of a mess of anxiety.

I dunno about the AI stuff or that, but it does sound like you're making risk decisions on monthish timescales on a societal concept which is useful work. Your work whether you win or lose factors, even a little bit, into the price. So you're not a bird brained guesser and you're not moving the market either, you're doing a service. If you've learned enough for the money you lost, it ain't all that bad is it? Nice work!

You bring up an interesting idea: Some people pay an unwise price for things because they don't understand anything about it and just want it. I get that. That happens a lot. A whole lot. Sometimes they pay WAY TOO MUCH because they don't, for instance, know what a battery is for example, completely hypothetically of course. It works until AI kills your users using search

the number of searches that Google gets has fallen for the first time ever.
Google had 95% of the search market

they're below 90% now

If Google loses search, they lose their biggest and most profitable business

Google is priced at 95% search capture. It's never going to get better. You don't go up from here,
just increase your margin

For the first time, Google is under very real threat of losing users.
Everyone that switches to AI for search hurts Google,
even if they're using Gemini for search. Gemini is not montetised for search as well as its search is.

I'd be very wary of holding Google.
You have it priced at perfection,

And it's my opinion hat Google's monopoly is being disrupted, not 2, or 3 years in the future. They're being disrupted right now,

search revenue isn't shrinking, just decelerating, and cloud is more than making up for it. search being cannibalized by ai is not a positive, but by next year their other businesses will be the majority of revenue, and that in aggregate is growing 3x faster than search. they can survive the transition and just milk high margin search until it's over, google maps will remain durable too. they have 3 other successful businesses and are a major player in self driving and quantum.

Google had 95% of search. That is declining.

If search goes to AI, and online shopping goes to AI, is Google going to capture 95% of AI agents?
I don't think so. If Google had a realistic shot of dominating 95% of AI, then I'd say sure, but that's basically impossible at this point.

It'll never get better for Google than it is now.

What will happen more than likely,
search dies, agentic internet takes over
Google captures 30% of the agentic internet at best. People won't google search anymore, they'll just tell their agentic what they want, and their agent figures it out. That's a far cry from a 95% monopoly over search.

Even if half of users stick with search, the other half goes to AI,
a far cry from a 95% monopoly as well.
And agents aren't capital light like search, agents are very capital intense

Never going to get better. Never. I just don't see how it's possible that Google is going to be better off after losing its monopoly.
Maybe they pivot to something else,
like some revolution of data montetisation.

Search was Google's easy, guaranteed revenue. They didn't have to do anything special. It was just automatic like treasury dividends. They didn't have to spend a lot of money. They just had a monopoly and made a boat load of money off it with no competition. It doesn't get better than that.

the agents have to search the web too, and most of them use google. they will switch from selling ads to selling access. and i agree search is facing a cliff, it's just that the cloud ramp is more than making up for it for the time being, and they aren't exactly sitting on their hands and doubling down on it, it's a cash generator that they're plowing into everything else. google cloud is a trillion dollar business already, by end of decade it will likely eclipse search. you aren't wrong but there are a half dozen other reasons to own google. the bet is that everything else eclipses search before the party ends, and considering search is still growing double digits i think there's a long enough fuse.

Since people here are constantly talking about AI, Datacenters and the like.

Due to all the pressure against datacenters in the west and AI in general just heard off a riot near microsoft in Amsterdam, the likeliest outcome will be that the datacenters get exported and outsourced to china, the same as the west did for anything else remotely causing pollution or requiring physical effort. it's the logical outcome. as such China wins the AI race and everything surrounding it. AI isn't going away regardless it'll be a tool people need to use for work but it will be handed over gently to China.

the list is important but it'll probably move to China, or South east asia maybe Malaysia or Cambodia or well you get the idea, countries that have significant ties to China and not really to the US, maybe some do like the phillipines.

Not that it matters much if you have a computer or a laptop that stuff is all produced in China these days, it still suprises me to this day that ASML wasn't outsourced to China yet.

As for sanctions and such the ceo's do no care, and the general enviroment for them in the west is akin to dealing with the luddites and spergs. so they'll probably make a exit soon.

You are confusing different industries. Manufacturing is ancient technology, nobody cares if China knows how to build a laptop or solar cell as long as they do it cheaper.

China can't even legally get any of the most advanced GPUs for AI processing. And obviously companies want to build data centers near customers (in America). These things CANT be sent to China, along with the intellectual property (besides when they use shell companies and spies to steal stuff).
>>
>>62871806
Trial by fire and you did not burn, even better you live to tell the tale and now we're much better for it. Now I call that encouraging! For me, it was more like a fog, not a flood totally. In each case it's a little bit like a headache, if you know one's coming, and you've had a few, you know there's a time later when it's all gone. Maybe there's fear only about the headache part. What I do is diversify at peaks, and lighten leverage
and then during corrections I start leveraging up my equity bets

Around July I was already lightening my bags
especially after my energy hedge when oil hit $100, and I got out of energy even though I didn't really want to.

Around the time this dip hit, I was already so light the only leverage the only leverage I had was in my hedges.

I didnt even miss out of any upside because not shit went anywhere but healthcare and value, and I'm gradually getting more aggressive again now

I'm not up though, since summer
down a little, but still up ytd.

Baby blues and pinkies just have a difference of opinion. Opinions change over time and facts don't. Maybe it's important to have a reminder on that.

Getting my options sorted before sun-up is a great way to organize my day. I appreciate that. before even that happens, some ponder pink pacyderms and grimly little invisible griseldas swooping in and taking all our dough. It's only about an hour. But things just go bump in the night, it's even easier to handle than a headache. Not pain, but a potential future pain. It's all in their heads I reckon. They oughta give that hour a name to remember these effects, and spend time sorting these bumps out so I can get my options straight on time after breakfast. At least if my health was any concern they might. A brew can hurt and it can heal. Reminders are just a great way to get the ball rolling in my opinion. Boil boil toil and trouble...

There should definitely be commodity housing, but realistically, they'll never allow it. Too much interest aligns against it from the bottom, to the top. You've got voters that own homes (most voters are home owners) they want to see number go up forever. You have local governments that want to collect more property tax revenues and local governments are run by landlords that inherited and want to make sure rents stay high. You have banks that want mortgages to be a necessity, and require people to take larger and larger mortgages. You have insurance companies that want to be necessary and make their schemes essentially or even mandatory. You have state governments aligned with local governments. And finally you have federal government that has to answer to banks, home builders, and insurance companies, and as well, they don't want to piss off boomers.

It's unfortunate, but that's the reality of America. Plan accordingly.

>>
>>62871844
Housing is so contentious. At bare minimum to survive, that I cannot do myself because I don't know how really, is I would need my body to stay alive and to be fed, that's it and I'll be able to find a way to handle the rest. I have no idea what a commodity is. When I get lost like that I strip words away I don't know, find out what I do know, then start adding them back when they make sense. That's how I plan accordingly. If keeping my body alive was important to somebody they might want to know that information. After all, if I had a shack and it tore a hole, I could still sleep in it. If the hole got bigger I could still sleep in it. If the hole got so big there wasn't a shack left at all I might even still survive to patch it up after productive sleep, a time spent doing nothing(?) productive, or so I'm told. Until I know for sure I keep my opinions to myself but that's my problem I guess.

If you're smart enough to ever pick assets that perform when it comes to stocks you can do it with other asset classes. One of my earliest wins was tossing a week of wages at a coin and seeing it become about 1/4th of the amount you describe after holding for about a year.
I diversified between metals, stocks and crypto when I started out because I rightly figured I wasn't knowledgeable enough to look at any single asset class and go "This will perform the best for the next X years".
Now if you think it's too much risk that's understandable, but we do live in a world where people got rich off of fizzy soft drinks and their stocks. It's not a world that values only what's safest and most practical. Just something to think about.

Yeah well my point was that services that are not top will go to zero buy hardware will retain over 50 percent of value for a long time even after way lower demand.
But if you call 20% down a bubble bursting then okay i suppose.

Didn't buy the bottom?
>>
>>62872060
What use is buying the bottom if you never sell? Half the people itt never sell, not even at 25-27m SOXL gains, kek

It's becoming clearer and clearer that statements such as these are losing meaning, as if they ever had any. It may, quite unfortunately for many, be required that people actually understand how the stock market works for once before making such claims with any accuracy, precision and certainty anymore. Sigh.

Peak greed for SLOOOORPER mixed with: if I sell now think of the CGT I have to pay, what's the point anyway this is going to 3x to 1000 anyway. Unlucky, I think if he'd have bragged about his gains anons would've talked some sense into him to take some profit at least.

Just remember: the music can slow down real real real REAL slow but it never stops. If it ever does the market goes away like some so deeply and never so secretly desire. But it won't- too bad! They'll need more pute eventually, I'll share in pointing and laughing for a couple seconds though. Haha! Don't worry too much though, always room for a little hatred and dishonesty. I don't want any actually. I took enough intelligence when that bottomed out. But when the grease thins out some people slurp those little bits right up and then it belongs to them now. That's a correction for ya. Down down down you go, never hits zero, then someone bids it back up for "no" reason. That concept is quite extendable to all walks of life don't ya think.

The amount of soothsaying AI slop sussing up this general is getting annoying.

Bullshit. You don't need low latency for 90% of AI tasks.

I'm thinking of vibe coding a Tamper Monkey script that hides them. I see some shibboleths that they do; for example, starting a lot of sentences with conjunctions. It favors the advanced two-dollar grammar prepositional phrases and stuff that break the rules of grammar they teach in middle school, which are dumb anyway. It just goes over board with them though. I could vibe code some heuristics to match a few of the shibboleths and hide it.

I think this is partly why people think it sounds so smart. It cleanly breaks the rules of grammar they teach in high school, which is what any good author used to do 40-50 years ago without drawing attention to it.

Nobody learns to write or read at the post graduate level anymore, so they think breaking the dumb rules of grammar they never advanved past makes it sound smart.

Finally, /smg/ is dead.

This is still a stock market general, sirs. Not business general. If you plan to IPO, in that case you can tell us about it here.
