It’s here - summer can OFFICIALLY begin! Thread 151 has arrived. By now, 2026 is in full swing, and your adventure is well underway. Is it turning out as expected, or even better? Good, keep going! Is life leaving you wanted? Good, that’s a useful signal something is wrong! Look closely at what you’re doing, and ask yourself; are you living up to your full potential, or just coasting along until Walpurgisnacht Rising premiers? There’s more to existence than just existing, anon. If your world isn’t turning out as you dreamt it would, get more involved, and put fate back on track with your own hands. Homura kept trying, again and again and again until she remade the universe itself. You can, too! Get out there, and redefine what adventure means, until your dreams and reality are one in the same. And naturally, during those quiet moments in between the action, enjoy the best place on the internet and celebrate best meguca here, on /c/, in our Homura threads.Archive:HomuraAkemi.comPrevious Thread:>>4450697

I'm worried about kaiten broswith the understanding that madoka is a franchise known for subverting expectations, the trailers are not inspiring confidence
>>4467921I don't know what the point is of Kaiten, besides making more money. My hopes aren't high for it, and I'm conflicted on seeing it in theaters in the US.
>>4468024I'm apprehensive about a story continuation this late into the game too, but doesn't Rebellion technically end inconclusively?
>>4468030It ended very conclusively. A new status quo is established, the incubators are defeated, just about everyone got their arc wrapped up, and though there are implications that the new status quo isn't going to be good for everyone (especially Homura), that's how most fiction ends. Now, you could make the case that all fiction ends inconclusively because any surviving characters or established world building could allow a continuation of the story. I don't think that's a good case worth making, though, since it's so broad a definition that it loses all meaning. For normal storytelling purposes, I'd say Rebellion wraps the PMMM storyline neatly. Do you plan to rewatch the main series before Kaiten?
>>4468101What about Madoka starting to regain her memories at the end? Isn't that a rising threat to the new world order that Homura established? The movie allows Homura to exert her will, but Madoka doesn't get to respond and is neutered. While there's no guarantee that the new movie will be good, that alone is worth exploring I think.I last saw the series during the annual rewatch with /a/, albeit in 2024, so I'm likely not going to see it again before Kaiten.
>>4468024I'll probably see it. I gave a lot of shit to people who wouldn't acknowledge Rebellion, so I kind of don't want to end up in that positionMy worries are that I literally couldn't care less about walmart at this point. The story that I think should be told is one mainly about Madoka and Homura with the other holy quintet as secondary concerns. That kind of story does not require the large number of new characters that are being shown in the trailers. Not that I'm a powerscale wanker but I also fear that Homura is going to get done dirty again and again like the fight with Mami in Rebellion.
>>4468143Count me among those who initially didn't care for Rebellion but were eventually won over. In my case I simply did not understand the film at first and I admittedly had to have parts of it explained. I wonder if something similar will be observed with Kaiten for some people.Though I confess I have apparently not even watched all the Kaiten trailers, because outside of Walpurgis, I have not seen any other characters. I am not sure how to feel about there apparently being more of them. I hope at least Madoka, Homura, Sayaka, Kyoko and Mami's story will be concluded with Kaiten.
>>4468110> What about Madoka starting to regain her memories at the end?Just because something can be explored doesn’t mean that the existing story hasn’t wrapped up well. Consider Code Geass R2, and the hook of Lelouch as a cart driver being left available for an entire decade. Can you continue the story vs. do you NEED to continue the story is a fine line, but IMO Madoka lands on the “no continuation needed” side of things as of the end of Rebellion. Do you feel a movie is needed to address the threats to Homura that may exist at the end of Rebellion, anon?
>>4468143> I also fear that Homura is going to get done dirty again and again like the fight with Mami in RebellionThis rustles my jimmies more than it should. Homura is vastly more competent and experienced in combat than her biology age allows, and she gets very little “credit” for those loops an experience in universe. It’s annoying in a way that’s hard to articulate. >story does not require the large number of characters shown in the trailerAlso agree. The new girls feel very much like gatcha fodder.
>>4468232>she gets very little “credit” for those loops an experience in universeYes, that's one of the things that Rebellion was trying to point out, that Homura when taken out of her time loops when she is almost all knowing is a fallible person who very much does not know everything and makes a lot of mistakes. That's an important part of her character that she was able to cover up during most of the series and Rebellion was smart to specifically point it out.
>>4468237> Homura when taken out of her time loops when she is almost all knowing is a fallible person who very much does not know everything and makes a lot of mistakesIt’s one thing her to make mistakes more socially and in problem solving. It’s another thing entirely for her combat experience to be negated almost completely for the sake of getting a few flashy fights. Believing Mami, whose reaction time and competence let Charlotte move across an entire arena to eat her, can hold her own against Homura and react faster than a speeding bullet, is a bridge too far. Power scaling and combat logic in the Madokaverse have always been secondary to spectacle. I see no reason to believe Kaiten will be any different, and whatever contrivance is needed for plot progression will be deployed.
>>4468232>>4468259I mald so fucking hard when Sayaka is all smug like 'ooh wtf were you thinking trying to fight mami? huh dumbass? gonna use your literally ONE power again???'All that shit with Mami not being as good anywhere else than that one fight, Homura literally has her one power hard countered before the fight even begins with what the viewer can only conclude is an ability that not only have we not seen, SOMEHOW Homura hasn't either in 100 loops.
>>4468231>Do you feel a movie is needed to address the threats to Homura that may exist at the end of Rebellion, anon?I definitely feel like if you look at the story from Madoka's perspective, that Rebellion's resolution is a little lacking. The original 2011 anime itself, in my view at least, wraps up the story more neatly than Rebellion does. But because Rebellion exists, now there's a potential for a continuation. Is that a NEED for a continuation? Perhaps not, but I do think that Madoka is neutralized in Rebellion and essentially made into a non-character. That's one thing I want for the new film to address.
