>just over a month away>no threadSeriously what happened? I heard some BS happened last year but it wasn't bad enough to wipe discussion off the board was it? Just got my room filled and looking forward to it.
>>10964752I'll be rooming with a few other dudes. I'm hoping to have my shit together by next week so I can finish my Kogarashi cosplay and tweak my GALO SENGEN costume a bit more
Damn did the fact they had ALA during the wildfires actually cause people to boycot this or did the LA gull community explode again?
>>10965050If I only managed to meet up with one dude during the entirety of AX25 then this is to be expected
>>10965157I got kinda sick during ALA so wasn't sure what was going on, all I know is the gull discord self destructed shortly after the event. Seeing no posts here, kinda confirms a few things, oh well.
>>10965174Discordniggers deserve to have their shitty walled garden destroyed
>>10965180Not going to defend the CA discord groups, I mean at least it's not the dumpster fire I see the midwest as, but even if you aren't big to discord it's nice to have a place to instantly ask and get replies at. Also a pretty nice way to at least find a few cool people to hang out with.West coast con official discords are abhorrently bad
>>10965224>instantlywhy do you need "instant" replies? If no one is answering then do something else with yourself; it's a goddamn convention there's always something to do
>>10965239>why do you need "instant" replies?Because I work a 9-5 job and don't have the time often to dig around through a slog of random comments or posts to work back what random thing this time changed last minute or got cancelled or whatever. Maybe 'instant' was not the correct word, but nearly instant or within a short time often within a lunch break.>it's a goddamn convention there's always something to doWhich is exactly why the few days off I have for the event I want to ensure I'm doing everything to make the most of it. How is this hard to understand for anyone with a normal work/life schedule in the modern day. If you have the free time to comb through random social media posts that OOPS not on x.com this time now on bluesky or oops this only got posted to facebook! or oops this was only in discord! etc and can catch that's great. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of spare time around this event as a working adult.
>>10965265You're wasting time and energy on a 4chan/discord fag who more than likely doesn't have a job as they are always online.
>>10965265>wah wah im an adult i don't have time like you whippersnappersyeah yeah been hearing that excuse forever
>There's a KPDH cosplay gathering everyday during con.
>>10965050Fires started 2 weeks before con and it was very far from Long Beach. They couldn't cancel.
> Want to do ribbons> missed the deadline to use ALA's service> that one is on me> look at the earliest I can still get ribbons made> late December, okay got a chance> $50 for 100Is that price normal?
>>10965498>ribbonsFucking retarded ass shit. I don't get the hype of this crap.
>>10965581I just think it's neat
>>10965586Ribbons are lame. No one cares if you had to suck someone's dick for that ultra rare ribbon for your collection which will be irrelevant once the con is over.
>>10965588I still like it
>>10965581Community driven souvenirs.
>>10965463Tell that to the angry social media mobs and discord shitposters. I know california discord's for cons like this can be rough but man ALA last year was like the worst virtue signaling imaginable.
>>10965597Simply ignore them
I'm still excited for ALA, it's still my favorite con and I appreciate the chill vibes and the fact that people are very interactive and easy to talk to. Only downside is that if it happens to rain it does get cold as balls.
>>10965827>people are very interactive and easy to talk to
>>10965224>least it's not the dumpster fire I see the midwest as,Midwest gulls are a league of their fucking own in the shitty people department.
>>10965847>anime cons>in the MidwestThey've never made sense to me. Cons in the west coast make sense. They're the ones physically closest to Japan after all. East Coast cons also make sense cause they're near major population centers.Midwest cons make zero sense. Barely any people. Located in flyover country i.e. planes no one actually cares to visit and they're very far from Japan.
>>10965827>fact that people are very interactive and easy to talk toSorry, this isn't the late 2000s-early 2010s anymore. No one talks to anyone outside of their inner circle at cons these days because no one wants to come off as a creep
>>10965845>>10965853you issueeither ugly or shitty personality
>>10965855No it's true. Zoomers are the worst examples of this by far. Anyone chatting up their clique or just saying hi is either a loser creep or a groomer trying to groom them. Which is funny to say because some zoomers are already in their late 20s.
>>10965855>>10965856You can thank that faggot who dresses up as the Yellow Ranger that burned another cosplayer's car which got ALA booted from Ontario. That's why no one wants to socialize people at cons that are outside their comfort zone.
ALA needs to return to being a hotel party con. Have it back at the LAX Marriott, cap the attendance 10k, and charge $300 for a four day badge.
>>10965856No its false. My 4 person ALA room is filled with me and 3 other people I met at either ALA or AX just this year. Simply have a nice cosplay and don't be afraid to interact!
>>10965845>>10965853It's true, it's easy to strike up a conversation for ribbons or to talk about cosplays. You probably won't make best friends or anything, but it's nice to swap socials and catch the same people at other events.
>>10965974I don't talk to people at cons since Covid. I got sick the last person I talked to which was in 2023.
>>10965974It's also really easy to make a group of new friends just by pulling up to any random table in the lobby after 9PM with a deck of cards and asking if anyone wants to play. If they say no, move on and hit the next table. Doesn't hurt if you have a beer or candy to hand out either.
>>10965993Hey there pedo creep.
>>10965974>see someone last ALA also cosplaying from the game I'm cosplaying>we run into eachother a few times in the halls thursday>turns into running into eachother and chatting a bit on friday>then we hangout and get dinner across the street saturday>we are now rooming together in 2 weekshaving a cosplay is so damn easy mode
>>10965974>>10965993Some of my best memories were made with random people at cons who I know I'll never meet again desu, would recommend
>>10965991Caring about Covid in 2025 going onto 2026 is virtue signaling at this point. Talk to people. Some stupid overblown flue from half a decade ago should not discourage you from meeting new friends and creating great memories with them. Stop being anti social and go out there.
>>10965498It's pretty normal. You can get as low as $0.3/piece or 100/$40 if you don't mind a longer turnaround time.
>>10964752It's dead because cgl is dead. Most people post are in their own discord groups now.Anyways what's everyone cosplaying this year? Any panels you are looking forward too?
>>10966154I haven't been on cgl since ~2018 and it's sad to see suddenly see this board just kinda dead. I miss all the old threads, tripfags, and people posting about cgl meetups. What the hell happened to this place other than "discordfags". Did this board never get new people coming in that actually cares about cons or something? Actually attempt to meet other people, I met a lot of fun people from the cgl meetups over the yearsAnyways, now that I'm doing cons again I still need to plan out cosplays for 2026. Is CWF still a thing? That's honestly the main panel I always looked forward to every con.
>>10966195A large portion is just people not wanting to be associated with 4chan I feel, 2016 wasn't the deathnail that COVID cabinfever made about how bad 4channel is. A large part of the cosplay community also I feel just grew old enough to not deal with some of the 'unique' characters that show up. Last meetup I went to was 3-4 people from pol spouting shit, most people just stopping by to say they weren't dead, and desu was just more glad to do my own thing. It feels like there is no general ~from the internet vibe~ where 4chan was just people who knew meme's and silly takes. Now you have polar opposites, being that of a minority chill and a majority coomer/pol faggots who don't know what an indoor voice is.
>>10966195Adding to this >>10966203 after the hack a few months ago and 4chan being down for awhile also ended up decreasing traffic to the site, a lot of the people that still tolerated 4chan found other places to be.
>It's going to be a wet ALA with a rain storm hitting Southern California that weekend.
>>10966219dw weather changes
>>10966203>>10966215damn.. I guess all that makes sense then. I took a break around the time retards from other boards started to show up but they were kinda pushed to the side for the most part. It's sad to see the problem stuck around. I remember my first cgl meetup, it was busy and lively and I was awkward and quiet. I'm staying optimistic though that this place will get some sort of new life, even if it's only a small one.>>10966219It'll probably be fine. If it does rain bad then keep track of how many cosplayers forget an umbrella.
>>10964752>>10966154>>10966195Most of it is because there's no reason to look here anymore now that every public IP is rangebanned so every con thread dies while the con is happening, so what's the point anymore?I still come to this board because I know a lot of you anons are fun and still more quality than the fags who show up for Dealer's and AA then leave.
I don't care what you fags are saying. I'll be liveposting during the convention
>>10966272I hope you do anonI'll attempt posting if it'll let me
I will post about how my feet hurt and I'm thirsty and about the burrito with fries in it from the restaurant directly across the street to the west
