Sakuracon feels too big these days, with just how many buildings there are. I think it could benefit from being at least a little bit smaller, although I do respect that their artist alley is massive. On the other hand, Kumoricon just didn't do it for me last year; nothing about it really stuck out. Wasabicon is dead, and that had the benefit of being so poorly planned that it committed consuicide. I haven't seen much in the way of parties these days, but that's more so due to my old circle dying off. My other issue is that these cons are all getting very expensive to attend; $120 is kind of an insane price if you didn't plan in advance. At least this encourages people to want to host panels or volunteer. I know in my case, I've wanted to do the former for that reason.TL;DR: Jaded late 20-something year-old ranting about mediocrity in cons.
