>what?an anime convention that stopped being good years ago>when?April 3rd-5th>where?Seattle Convention Center, Washingtonhttps://sakuracon.org/Hopefully it sucks less this time around!
Will be there everyday, as always
>>10966884FELLOW MONOGATARI FAN????>>10966796Yeah ill be there as Ryu Hayabusa
>>10966884Das rite. Toying with the idea of a cosplay AGAIN but afraid of low recognition (again)
>>10966897what cosplays do you plan on doing?
>>10966796ill be there... but mostly i just use it as an excuse to hang out with friends in seattle and hit up parties. The con itself seems kinda boring.
>>10966895>>10966979It'd be either Hanekawa or tracksuit Karen. I saw a lone Yotsugi last year which isn't super encouraging. Better try internalizing the >Cosplay for yourself not othersmantra while there's still time
I should be there too>>10966897>>10966895I cosplayed as rainy devil (kanbaru) at my last con
I love sushi
>>10967062>>10967058>>10966895i was thinking as going as araragi but if theres gonna be a monogatari sakuracon meetup i will for sure do it
>>10967062>>10967086Is it happening? I think it's happening
>>10967082>I love sushi
All this Monogatari talk has got me going. I own a Hachikuji cos and went as her last year so why not again??? Or maybe I'll invest in Nadeko.
>>10967273>went as her last yearZamn, I missed you. How many people recognized it?
>>10967308Only one. It was at Emerald city comicon not SakuraI thought that cos was of u until my friend pointed out the spanish background;_;Mine wasn't as good but I'll show it. Mine will be better than last year so no worries.
>>10967328>Only one.We suffer, but there's strength in numbers. That pic is actually from Otakuthon in Montreal and the poster there said there was a packed panel. To show how small the pool of Monogatari cosplayers is though, we also mentioned a Shinobu...who I've also seen at Sakura.>Mine will be better than last year so no worries. You got this, nonny
>>10967489last year i saw a hanekawa, nadeko, yotsugi and shinobu but not together
>>10967489Yeah. My friend mentioned he saw a Shinobu cos last year.>you got this nannyThank you.I think we should definitely do a Monogatari meet if we have enough people.
Last year there was a Capcom photo shoot at the new con center. When Cheese Cake caught on fire, they moved it to the garden at the old convention center……..closer to the danger.
>>10967563I never heard about that
>>10967526>but not together>>10967529Yeh that settles it, we gotta make this happen even if its just a fandom meetup. Worth noting too by the way: my last con had Koyomi, Mayoi, Nadeko and Yotsugi together
I'll be there and I want a con gf just for the weekend. We'll play tcg and hold hands.
>>10967581what tcg do you play?
>>10967058>>10967062>>10967273>>10967578OK WHOS WHO??? I CALL ARARAGI
>>10967586I'm gonna be Hachikuji again. We got Araragi and Hachikuji now the others call it.
>>10967578Oh cool.End uo getting any photos???
>>10966796I just want them to get their shit figured out for the cosplay contest. AFAIK it keeps conflicting with whoever has the main stage in the evening taking the whole afternoon to do a tech rehersal. >>10967563I missed to that because my fucking HUNK was in the goddamn hotel room! Didn't cosplay for the whole weekend and just drank at Pine Box with my bro instead.
>>10967637I was Cody from Final Fight. My friend was Barry from STARS. My other friend was supposed to be Guy, but her backed out last minute.
>>10967582Digimon, yugioh, pokemon. I want to get some FF tcg decks and maybe gundam. I don't do magic. If you are a cute girl I will teach you.
>none of my friends going this yearAny canadabros going...
>>10967617>>10967586you fucks better post pics
>>10967760We will we know eachother we're friends
>>10967586The jury has deliberated and Nisemono Karen wins. Hanekawa might be closer in the looks department but I'd rather somebody with a unique fit>>10967618Yeah but they were pretty shy so maybe best save that for the day of
Monogatari mentioned?I will have to bring my Hitagi cosplay
Any mtg players going?
Missed sakuracon last year, looking forward to it this year though. Hopefully no major political events happen.
>>10967865 it'd be a shame if there was nobody cosplaying epstein though
I'm reading the idol drama and can't say I really get it. I've never seen more than 2 dozen people in the dance workshops.
>>10967876its a very niche scene where a lof the people have a superiority complex
I'm still trying to figure who to cosplay as. Also, did anyone go to the rave last year?
>>10967979i did it was lame, go as a monogatari character if ur into that cause it seems we will be having a meetup
>>10967988A meet up huh? I guess I'll go as koyomi.
>>10967999Someome claimed to already be going as him
Gonna be Ryu from Ninja Gaiden (nes version) on Friday.
>>10968005Hmm, then I guess i will probably go as Kaiki.
>>10968041>>109668952 Ryus..... thats quite a statistical anomaly
>>10966796this is the version of araragi i will be going as, if someone wants to do school or casual araragi thats ok too and for Ryu im doing his outfit from the 3D games specifically his Ninja Gaiden 3 outfit
>>10966796https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxB5NcPrN4c&pp=ygURcGxheXN0YXRpb24gZG9hIDc%3DHayabusaChads..... we're eating good.
>>10968135It'd be nice if they didn't aggressively monetize their games
>>10968041
>>10968430Is that homemade?
>>10968433Kind of? It’s a blue karate gi I cut the sleeves off of. Red socks I cut out, and a black scarf I use for Luke’s battle over the Scarlacc outfit. The sword is rubber so peace bonding won’t give me shit. The mask is just a blue balaclava. You can’t see it but I have black ninja shoes.
You guys know that huge booth? The one with all the import games, CDs and art books. They were at the last con I went to and somebody (besides me) was buying Mono stuff every time I went by. Perhaps something to keep in mind for later
>>10966796Is there any good panels/events/meetups/hangouts to go to? I'm used to Katsu/Ota/Mag, where everyone would just get drunk by the Gazebo or Marquis lobby.I went to sak last year, but didn't actually spend much time at the con itself due to a hangover + visiting friends + the fire.
>>10968494theres a 24 hour arcade
>>10968509It's 24 hours?
>>10968494Depends on your niche. There's whole bunch of panels ranging from contests to interests in creating content to voice actors and celebs. Though some were canceled because of the cheese cake factory fire lol
>>10968536yes it lasts the entire convention from opening to close
>>10968536No, it's 23 hours and 59 minutes
Does this con still have just dance in the gaming room?
>>10968596 I don't recall seeing just dance, but there are a few DDR or other dancing games available there.
Has it really been 11 years? That was like the only meetup that I actually enjoyed.
>>10968714>Beethat's as good an omen as I could ask for
Do you think badge pickup wont take 5 hours this time
>>10968765Oh, it definitely will. I'm going there early morning to avoid the 4 hour noon line
>>10968765>>10968766cgl meetup at badge pickup thursday? gonna be bored as hell cause i booked my hotel that night
>>10968765I'm just going to grab mine on Thursday. I'm not sitting through this nonsense again.
>>10968778Im going there friday. Will try to get there early as possible though
>>10968430speak of the devilhttps://x.com/kaiyodo_PR/status/2028998869984379250?s=20
>>10968778Im gonna skip work and grab mine Thursday if I even go. I didn’t even buy my pass yet.
>>10968807i already have the revoltech NG3 one
>>10968714>its all dudesI thought this board had lots of girls?
>>109687142 girls is better than 0
>>10966796So when exactly are we doing the meetup Friday,Saturday or Sunday?
>>10969055First for Friday
>>10969058alright add me on discord munch3r im gonna be the kizu araragi and ryu hayabusa (not the one in thread)
>>10969055I assume Friday, though I'm going to be at the convention for the whole weekend
Next to last con in the USA till 2027, hope it's a good one
>no one i know is going>paying hotel by myself is too expensiveits over...
>>10969114If you are on a tight budget, book a bed from a hostel. There is one hostel literally right next pike place market called Green Tortoise. They tend to go for about 40 bucks a night.
>>10969114hostel right by the con is there some guy from cgl books there every year as broke anon
I'm going as Frank West this year. Working on a servbot helmet to wear for photos. The only issue I have at the moment is that I guess I don't like leather. I picked up a nice black leather jacket recently, but even after getting it professionally cleaned I cannot stand the smell.
Jank-ass schedule is now livehttps://sakuracon.org/programming/schedule/
>>10969219hi d4n
>>10969366helloI ended up getting a pleather jacket instead
Unfortunately, I'll be missing out on the con this year, although weirdly, I feel like I won't be missing out on much. Does getting older make you feel jaded about cons, or are they actually getting worse?
>>10969380The whole con scene changed after the pandemic. Can't say I like them as much either, but I still go to take photos at least.
>>10969380some are getting worse, others getting better depending on which staffers jump from the dying one to the better one. them the good one dies and they jump again after owners get greedy. this is the cycle
>>10967861I'll probably be doing a couple of the free drafts on Sat/Sun, I generally only play on Arena so the only physical deck I own is Krenko EDH that I inherited from my brother
>>10969382I've noticed that as well. I do want new con goers to have good experiences, but maybe in my aged mindset, I think the cons could be better. I feel like vendor halls have gotten worse, panels that are poorly hosted (this one is kind of inevitable), and some artist alleys accepting AI art. I at least appreciate that people still cosplay and put a lot of effort into it.>>10969388I think I just need to expand my horizons of which cons to go to, probably going out of the region. Sakuracon feels too big these days, with just how many buildings there are. I think it could benefit from being at least a little bit smaller, although I do respect that their artist alley is massive. On the other hand, Kumoricon just didn't do it for me last year; nothing about it really stuck out. Wasabicon is dead, and that had the benefit of being so poorly planned that it committed consuicide. I haven't seen much in the way of parties these days, but that's more so due to my old circle dying off. My other issue is that these cons are all getting very expensive to attend; $120 is kind of an insane price if you didn't plan in advance. At least this encourages people to want to host panels or volunteer. I know in my case, I've wanted to do the former for that reason.TL;DR: Jaded late 20-something year-old ranting about mediocrity in cons.
>>10969417I think the Washington Summer Con is decent. It's always hosted at the Puyallup Fairgrounds so at least it gives a lot of breathing room for photography.
>>10969417We're in full agreement on the issue of size and buildings. One is too cramped, two is too spread thin. Even more than that, opening the second building just killed the park photo shoots in Cold blood. Cons lose part of their identity when they switch somewhere else and an iconic location is gone. Sak might be the only one where It's still there and this happened anyway
>>10969417I’m honestly considering only doing conventions I have never been to next year. Just to see what else is out there. Definitely want to see more horror cons. We only have two in Western Washington.
>>10969420I don’t know what deal with the devil this guy made, but he always seems to get these amazing guests.
>>10969434Seriously, dude must have some real deep pockets or something because the anime and gaming convention also have great line-ups.
>>10969448My jaw hit the fucking floor when I saw pic related in the lineup
