>>10970358Holy. I need to visit Florida.
>>10970358who's the cosplayer?
Necroresponse edition>>10970213I've peered behind the curtains we'll say. If that sounds too much like "My uncle works at Nintendo" then check back here when it goes lives. You'll see how much overlap there is with years prior>>10970216As a con it's very oldhead, in attendees and things to do. It's also noticeably more political than anything else I know in the state. Don't be too surprised either, when you see that the venue is kinda small. On the unofficial side, 5 gulls handle the party side and we've had great reception till now>>10970381Coffee
same anon here too bad the last thread was nuked bc my honest opinion about my previous adventures still standsthe scene is so dry ive been attending to one offs and cosplay raves (like the ones in baoshi) and theyre fine i guess but in the end its just people drinking eating or dancing or just talking that place is not suited for a party but sure whatever uhhhh fuckin uhhh collect a con was fine if you dont care about trading cards pokemon this isnt for you megacon BAD im truly never going back ever again otakufest being so close to me this year but not in miami is gonna be a shitshow but well see ngl i might just hit up other cons outta state cuz the schedule this year is just not very good and coincides with other cons (otaku and AFO)
>>10970383We gulls know how to party!!!!
>>10970383>It's also noticeably more political than anything else I know in the statehow is an anime con political?
>>10970393Das rite>>10970396The "trans inclusionary" and "Life as a Black Otaku" side of it. Way more than any other Florida con I can think of, including Holmat
>>10970385>megacon BAD im truly never going back ever againCool way to say got kicked out
>>10970449Upvoted!
>otakufest good>megacon bad!!!>avatarfagging instantly>typing like a tardOh this is going to be a fun con season in Florida again this year, wonder what con will be "the worst ever" again as the result of sneaking in and trying to get into room parties of people you don't know.
>>10970448>The "trans inclusionary" and "Life as a Black Otaku" side of itSadly that garbage just comes with the territory of the anime/cosplay scene, no?
I got Rockville coming next week. Kinda planning on going to Metrocon but I haven't gone to it. Anybody been to it before? How good is it?
>>10970516metro is a fine con some years are okay some years are hype and if you go with friends its better i always go to it every year and i end up having a blast anytime i do the dates this year is im not gonna lie kinda weird kinda off but whatever but i have been critical over the years because its practically the same thing over and over between the chess matches and the fire show and the masquerade if anyones not too drunk to understand the story and dance time theres no 18+ stuff and metro is a party con however last year they mentioned WHY theres no 18+ stuff inna nutsack they making metro family/friendly and for entertainment only and theyre "not equipped or educated" enough to check ID and why they dont serve alcohol there>I just think the fandom needs a convention that focuses on entertainment and interactive events and community MORE than it needs another party con with 18+ panels at night. ????? isnt that the whole point of a con???
This would be dope
Day 500 of manifesting Holmat at GaylordDay 300 of manifesting Otakufest at Broward Convention CenterDay unknown of manifesting Mizu and Iwai at ANYWHERE that isn't Miccosukee Resort
same anon i just got back from mizucon and well im very surprised because i had a good time a convention that happened on a monday is the most perplexing thing ive ever witnessed and thought it was gonna be a shitshow but it was cool even if it was small its literally anime iwai but MIZUCON just please please please never go back to the casino ever again that shits gotta stop
which florida con would you say is the best, generally?
>>10972016holmat
Anyone else want to donate blood at the AFO blood drive?
I know >superconbut on the supercon website the section for panels is greyed out. Are they just not having them at all this year?
The line in the sand, comes to fruition>Otakufest>Anime Festival Orlando>>10972449Ain't no way, just give em a bit longer before any alarm bells go off
>>10970385I had a vendor at a scale model contest of all things allege collective con having low turnout so now I'm concerned about bold matsuri
>>10970385I've just been going to actual raves and festivals not just anime ones. They smell better and I can still dress up in whatever I want.
>>10972628>>Otakufest>>Anime Festival Orlandowhich one you going to? I'm going to AFO. You would think cons wouldn't be held on the same damn weekend when there's only a handful of cons in the state...
>>10972683>I'm going to AFOSame>You would think cons wouldn't be held on the same damn weekend when there's only a handful of cons in the state...A few things here, namely>Organizers probably aren't thinking on a scale beyond the immediate metro area, not unless it's a massive one which AFO is not>This was Otakufest's call since they've never had a consistent schedule...>...Plus the announcement was super late, which tells me they didn't have many better options
They repainted the Rosen since last AFO, I don't like the mint green look they went with
APB for Steve, 9 PM Room 1006>>10972696(You) too
Must be loli friendly
>>10972698I’ll stop by and say hi tonight too a completely random Cgler, just kidding if there’s a cgl meetup I’d like that actually! Should we all set a time? But AFO has changed, or maybe I just got older. Nah, it isn’t me it’s the kids who are wrong. It used to be a great party con at the Wyndham. Granted I haven’t gone since pre covid. Wish I had more cosplqya then generic ones but will be having Japanese whisky all day
>>10970558There’s also a history of Roy and team dynamite and insurance. That’s why. The convention center serves alcohol. Metrocon was the typical front runner of staff picking up underage girls, take them to rave, alcohol involvement and well what do you know, she was under 18. Granted from the stories I’ve heard she was telling everyone she was over 21 finishing university and had a 18+ wrist band but this is decade old news as well. Supercon and Miami cons are much worse in that aspect compared to central Florida cons.
>>10972710We have round two tonight, also 9 same room
>>10972718Volleyball normalfags won the battle but not the war
>>10970385same anon hereotakufest was,,,,,,,,fine,,,,,, granted i worked half the day so i sorta missed out but it was mostly a 7/10 for me being so close to me this year is a blessing since i wouldnt miss this con ever there isnt much i can say other than the spirit is there but the location never ever do it againbetween this the world cup fathers day and afo sunday was pretty slow so thats expected with low attendance speakin of how was afo to anyone who went? i heard cops were involved with some weird shit
>>10970358i clicked this board by accidnert i jst want to day this pretty lad yahs big boobies thank you god bless
>>10972740>but the location never ever do it againI'll take it over the MACC
friend in FL is trying to get me down to holimat in december but the last time I went to an anime con for the full 3 days that shit was so boring so I think Ima pass. Megaplex tho? count me in
>>10972740I think the West Palm location is okay, but they'll probably max out the size they can grow to if they're there. It's a good spot for something like Miraicon to grow into, they're already way too big for a fucking hotel.
>>10972730After that shitshow, I realize it's actually for the best that Marefair moved out. The rentacops of Rosen were some of the most strict I've ever seen>>10972765>They're already way too big for a fucking hotel. How sovl slowly dies, though they already confirmed at closing ceremonies they're looking to upgrade after this year
Who hitting up bold matsuri?
>>10972799Me tomorrow. I never use /cgl/ but I decided to check this place out out of curiosity and maybe out of a foolish desire to meet up with anons. I'm amazed somebody posted about it at all. I went to Bold Matsuri last year, but otherwise I've only ever been to Megacon back in 2011 and 2012.
>>10972799I'm >>10972834 and I just got here
>>10972844AAAAAAAAAAAAIt sucks going to these alone
Raise of hands, who else got sick after AFO?
>>10972851Come to something in Central or even South Florida. Our scene is robust, organized and ready to mingle. That i can tell though, none of us are ever touching Jax unless the stars align. Our next outing will be Marefair in late August
same anon but i gotta rant about this >see cool panels submitted at metrocon >none of them got approved>half of the panels are how to make a cosplay or someshitaaaaaaaaaand my streak to attend to metro ends this year to be fair theyve been getting on my nerves as of late cuz they really be pushing the "family friendly" vibe when im 100% sure theyre unaware that theyre labeled as a party con and babys first anime coni think i should reconsider headin somewhere outta state these days i dunno what do you guys think? ive been going to this con for so many years but this time i cant
>Superheroes are back>Furry meetup >Pride lounge>Group cosplays of Spaceballs and Kill la Kill>Guy as the Sabaton singer standing in place lip syncing >Handing out 3D printed gag giftsSupercon has changed
>>10973596Sabaton guy is okay. I dunno what his deal is but he wasn't in the way. He should also put on some muscle like some of those Banes had.
>>10973634He committed to his bit if nothing else. Never stopped, no matter where he was found. Changed costumes, came with at least 5 flags
>>10973640As a Sabaton fan I appreciate him, but I can see others having no fucking clue what he is. Did you see that woman with the gigantic grotesque fat fake tits? What was that
>>10973647That could mean a couple things. There was someone with huge fake tits as Boa Hancock but that makes sense. If I'm gonna associate anything from Supercon with breasticles though it was the cone cup Lara Croft
>>10972868I got sick before AFO looking at the venue and itinerary, so I passed>>10973556I see what you mean, but I'm free for that weekend now and the events look good enough. The spacing between shows I'm interested in is also favorable for recharging my photo perv equipment, and I feel confident in bringing out the combined GDP of Somalia level gear since the photo policy is nice. Also I met a cute persona panther cosplayer a few months back that insisted metro was better than holmat, and though she is 100% fucking wrong, the red latex alone or whatever she's working on is going to be worth the cost of admission.I'm a fuckin artist, you give me a tuber and I'll make something out of it
