Any seagulls going to ANYC? 30 days to go!
>>10973850I'll be cosplaying as Jirou Tomitake from Higurashi, if you see come grab a badge ribbon and say hi.Any other 07th cosplayers, we need to set up a meetup and photoshoot.
What's the Project Sekai panel thing going to be? It's the only reason I'm interested in going. Description says musical performances but I don't want to be disappointed with some video accompanied by not-live music.
>>10973851>Died first awardKek
I might go but just for the afterparties (have a friend who lives there), no way am I spending $200 for a four day pass
>>10974498I've never gone to ANYC specifically, are the afterparties good? I am also only going because I have a place to bum. NYC hotel prices are insane.
>>10974502I have no idea but considering the con closes at 7 I imagine there's a lot of stuff going on at night
>>10974503We shall see. I'm looking forward to it. Hanging out with folks and taking photos is most of what I spend time on at conventions regardless, but nobody hates a good party.
How do I find the afterparties
>>10974558Talking to people at the con usually. Sometimes they get posted on various forms of social media or are in a hotel lobby, but just talking to people is the best way to know. I'll scope around the con and post back any parties I find out about.
>>10974563>talk to person>they give me the stink eye>talk to person>they only give a weak laugh to whatever I say even if it's a question>talk to person>no responseDo NOT talk to people! They are all awful!
>>10974557>but nobody hates a party.I do.
>>10974567Skill issue. Try being less ugly or consider taking a shower? There are definitely lots of socially retarded people at these places but they are not the ones planning or attending parties. Use your eyes and identify the socialites. >>10974568Stay home then? Idk. NYC is going to be loud and annoying party or not. On one side you get music and drinks and on the other side you hear honking and cars revving their shit.
>>10974570>honking car = partyok retard
lol did anyone else get a lord of the rings vhs tape
>>10974589Who are you quoting
>>10974596(you), the person who stated cars are partiesyou really are retarded
>>10974617Newfag detected. Reading comprehension truly is a rarity. I know this site just gets more and more ESL as time goes on but goddamn. Either you go to the party and listen to music and drink, or you go back to your hotel and listen to traffic, and probably also ecery single room party going on around you. Never did I say they were equal, or was I equating them. The most common complaint with parties are the noise they generate, but you aren't getting silence in NYC anyways. Also cars can absolutely be parties. Just perhaps only on road takeovers or at car meets. Again, if you want quiet or silence, feel absolutely free to go back to your hotel just invest in earplugs or a good set of noise cancelling headphones. We probably don't want you at the party anyway.
>>10974618Good luck with that.OrI'm sorry that happened.
what’s the point to this con ever since it moved to august it’s been AX and otakon leftovers
>>10974701What's the point of any con? To have fun? Lots of people can't go to Los Angeles, or don't want to go to DC.
>>10974752No I agree with him. Anime NYC used to be the only major con in the Fall which made it feel very cool and unique. If they don't have that aspect to them then they start to feel same-y.
>>10974838ANYC in fall was subzero temps it was miserable
>>10974840bring gloves, dummy
>>10974841I cosplay so thats not an option
>>10974843change at the con center
>>10974838If the time of year was the only thing that made the con cool and unique, then it really wasn't all that cool and unique. Summer is con season, and if they are all similar than you can just go to one and call it good. I could not go to otacon or AX, but I can go to ANYC so that's the big con I will go to. It might have been more fun in fall because it was smaller, but just go to a smaller local con that is happening in the fall if that is what you want.
Going Saturday since I'm local-ish and it's kind of fun. I don't really have any big plans except walking around and enjoying the atmosphere.
does anyone wanna buy sunday tickets off of me? under market price too ^_^kimmikiwa
>>10974871Why did you buy a single ticket for Sunday of all days...
NYC is gonna fucking rain on con weekend in fact it has rained every fucking weekend I want to go out
Looking forward to meeting you all there. I've been motorcyling across the county and there isn't a single part of my body that is not sore. This shit has better be hype. t. Tomitake
Soon.
My favorite Chicago ewhores are going as cosplay guests so I'm very excited
There was a cute Flandre and I wanted to ask for her picture but she was surrounded by so many people I hate going to cons alone
The very fact that good smile company, viz, hololive, kinokuniya, and the fucking friskies booth are the only booths worth a damn shows just how worthless the spending power of the average non-vtuber fan at this con is.This is what you get for not buying anything at this con for years. You reap what you sow. I can't believe you people still buy hoodrat tier posters from that stupid large purple booth every fucking year.>>10975078>2hu>she/her
>>10975080She was cute I believe it
I have yet to see a touhou, only one Beatrice and one Dlanor.
Was surprised to see someone cosplaying Desert Punk, they never have the fucking helmet tho
>>10975011based, I didn't realize you were a gull. I met you at acen
dead thread? anyone trynna get fucked up?
Haven't done an NYC con in years but it's fucking wild that I haven't seen a single CD guy yet. Nowhere in the fucking city, and not outside the convention halls. The only guys there are the pass guys who aren't technically running a scam. Mamdani really did save the city...
I went to 2 panels and spent most of my time in the vendor Hall. fucking massive. eating NY pizza. fucking massive.
i want a cosplay gf too i saw this guy give his gf a ride on his shoulders like several times all for photos i wanna kill myself why isn't that me sao fans in the big 2026 get more game than me??
>>10975130I wonder how those couples even met.
>>10975131They were couples before they cosplayed together. You don't meet a cosplay gf at the convention, you get a gf and make her cosplay with you at the convention. Every girl you see at cons has a boyfriend
>>10975133I know that, it's just... how do you find a girlfriend that enjoys anime and cosplay just as you do? Dating apps? Anywhere other than that?
>>10975130>>SAO>>>2026 fake
>>10975134Every girl gets into anime and cosplay through their boyfriend. Either her ex got her into it, or you should.
>>10975136I see. Well, I'm not the other dude who posted about not finding a GF, but I was kind of wanting a cosplay GF too. I'm going to keep that in mind. Thanks!
>>10975130i think i know who you’re talking about i went to the unofficial toku meetup and a couple of guys from there peeled off to see em and give em free stuff got into their toku discord after the meet and the kirito was there thanking them for that
>>10975126The CD guys have been gone for fucking years. There are plenty of new scams now.
>>10975115I get around. I'm more of a /jp/sie than a gull, but I lurk /cgl/ con threads. That being said, this con was pretty disappointing. There were really not many people with a true otaku soul here, but it's what I get for expecting anything out of such a normie-coded convention. Most of the after parties were so bad, I only really heard good things about the sonicboombox rave, but it was naturally sold out. I had more fun just chilling and drinking in the AirBnB with some of my /jp/ homies than anything else. Idk if I actually met any gulls here, but /cgl/ is so dead that's not too surprising.I also kinda forgot the check this thread since one of the anons said he would give us the heat on the afterparties, but it seems he didn't deliver so not really worth getting too beat up over. I'll probably not come back to ANYC again, but I would say it was still worth coming out to hang with the people I did meet. Next time I'll probably prioritize otakon or AWA if I want to come to an east coast convention.t. Tomitake
>>10975158>The CD guys have been gone for fucking years. There are plenty of new scams now.Maybe I've gotten too good at looking naturalized (the only time I broke character was to shout "ONE SIDE FUCKING MOVE!" when all traffic just stopped outside the convention hall for a minute since I was having kitchen staff flashbacks) but I didn't really notice any.Just the badge guys and that was it outside the convention hall.In NYC in general it was just the bootleggers and the photo op guys. I did actually see a CD guy today, but it was a bunch of fat fucks sitting in chairs, so they couldn't even properly harass me (or anyone else). Idk anon, what scams did you see?
>>10975161i walked past you at the mg booth and said hello so you met some incognito
>>10975161I kept an eye out for you but never spotted you on any of the days.Tbf though, I spent most of Saturday in that fucking Junko Takeuchi line, and then had to run from that to the Hundred Line meetup, and I completely skipped Sunday.I had fun though. Maybe I'm more easily amused but, coming from a very repressive upbringing, it's just nice to see fans of things. A lot of shallow fucks in the artist alley (I'm sure all these people drawing JJK and Demon Slayer really do love it and aren't trying to make easy money off normalfags) and the booths are corporate bullshit, but I like running into the niche artists and cosplayers. Way too shy to talk to them for more than a minute though.Generally if I meet even one person who likes a thing I like for genuine reasons, I consider the convention a good time.
>>10975161Can vouch for otakon, the otaku spirit is strong there and the panels are consistently great. ANYC suffers from the same issue of AX where it's overly corporate, so it's only worth going to one for a day if you want to see certain vendors like Mangagamer and JAST that don't go to other cons, and panels outside of industry ones are just meh.
anyc is an actual scam, you could go to two better cons for less money than one 4 day there
>>10975165Did i give you a badge ribbon? I don't remember anyone at the mangagamer booth but I was taking my stupid photo with the higurashi games and the big tits imouto paradise banner in the background that I was not really paying much attention lol. I was kinda bad at handing them out so I have quite a few leftover that I will have to take back with me on the bike xd>>10975166It's so hectic and packed in that stupid ass building that i likely spent enough time just looking for people that it was probably the majority of my time spent at the con. Doesn't help that getting anywhere takes forever because of how many idiots just stop in the middle of the walkway for extended periods of time.
>>10975172i droveby said hello, i was in a rush. i had aviators on.
>>10975173Ah, yeah sorry I didn't notice or don't remember. orz
>>10975174no problem i prefer to be incognito
>>10975175Maybe at another con then. Anyway, I'm hitting the sack. The train back to my bike is pretty early so goodnight gulls, see you all around!t. Tomitake
I only went on sunday with my gf and linked up with some friends it was gun and kinda chillMaybe i.sjoudk just go on Sundays going forward to avoid the crowds and chaos
>>10975179>my gfKys
>>10975187
>ANYC became a hood nigger conkek
Only con I'm not getting post con depression from. Post con activities have been way more fun than any of the con stuff.
>>10975210>currently living through an economic crisis>con in the most expensive city evarHonestly, I think most people did it because there seemed to be barely any security. I knew there was cameras but I didn't think it was that well fortified. This was also a con that got flooded due to the Kagurabachi world tour, and it's one of the few big cons that situates all the vendors in one hall. Plus, I saw way more staff/artists departing their stalls compared to past years.
>>10973850Next year we should all agree to just go to Otakon and skip this shitty con entirely.
>>10975226Works for me. I'm probably going to try comiket next year, but if I still end up wanting to go to an easy coast con that will probably be it.
is it normal to have someone you’re only really friends with at a convention like we added each other in discord but we don’t really have any sort of conversation i feel like i have to try so hard to initiate and feel like i wasted the effort when i get like only a few words back this con is only good for its artist alley and cosplay community anyways. the crystal palace is a fine place to shoot when the weather permits i guess
>>10975264Alot of ppl are like that these days. Either he is really akward on text like i am or he doesn't really care about you at all
>>10975264She's not interested in you.
