What's the point of drinking alcohol?
I tried once and found it to be genuinely awful, especially its "temperately retarding effect" that people /like/.
What's the usecase for booze?

I don't know who that is, but pic rel is the quintessential soydev of Gnome Desktop Environment (basically a living /g/ meme)

In this moment I am euphoric… not because of some phony alcoholic beverages blessing

what makes you think a temperately retarding effect is a metric?
>>
>>22027947
it's fun. if you don't think it's fun, don't drink. it's not that deep.
>>
>>22027947
easier to socialize and be care free
>>
>>22027947
It can have therapeutic effects if consumed in low doses occasionally. A 30ml 40% abv shot would be too much by this metric.

The benefit of depressants is that they allow you to be uninhibited in a controlled environment.
The problem with working 8 hours a day is that your brain is so conditioned to those high stress environments that it's difficult (but not impossible) to shift your mental state to relax. And relaxation is necessary in the long run.
There's a lot of ways to do it, but alcohol is one of the easiest methods since it's just the natural byproduct of spoiled foods that humans have been exposed to since antiquity
>>
>>22027947
You wouldn't get it.
>>
>>22027947
you're supposed to drink until you can't feel feelings anymore
>>
For me the point is to dull the negative thoughts, relaxing. I can even feel somewhat goodlooking drunk, which never happens sober.

If you are above all that, well good for you.

Is it so crazy to some people that I might like the taste of beer and wine?
>>
>>22027947
Social lubricant. Makes it easier to have friends and obtain sex.
>>
I don't drink and have friends, is that a problem?
>>
>>22027947
To forgot my troublems for a few hours. When I am drunk I forgot all the terrible things in my life and I can focus on playing vidya or reading comic books or that sort of thing without having a million racing thought about the bad things that happened to me in the past, my troubled present or my non-existent future. It is the same for all alcohols
>>
>>22027947
a genuine use case is it relieves social anxiety, but you would have to be socially anxious to begin with to benefit, there aren't many proper use cases that benefit from you acting uninhibited by your second guessing instincts but i'm sure there are technically more

I find this alcoholic form of escapism to be rather harmful
I'm the guy who tries to run away from his problems, but doing so through use of substances (in this case beverages) just feels... wrong
there are less destructive ways to forget your problems IMO
>>
>>22029109
It doesn't have to be about forgetting your problems. It temporarily rewires you so that you can have fun in otherwise stressful or unsavory situations. If not that, it also shows that you're willing to get over yourself and partake of the social contract, therefore increasing your trustworthiness among your peers. Part of the reason zoomers stopped drinking altogether is because nightlife, get-togethers, and generally all manner of social gatherings have taken a downturn as everyone turns to their phones for soulless, transactional relationships and doomscrolling.

is bullshit invented by statists

Get over yourself.

no
>>
I cant find my fine point anymore. I havent felt the buzz for years. it's either middling sipping of fancy stuff or full on binging to manifest a path of destruction and I dont qualify as an alcoholic.
>>
>>22029132
I don't trust a person who doesn't drink because they're scared of their own inhibitions.

This. Never trust a person who can't or doesn't trust themselves.

My brain works so I think, thinking makes me smart but permanently angry because I'm smart, alcohol makes me not angry

And it's easier to get laid and play darts, bowl, fight, verbally abuse others, and shoot pool because it makes you superhuman for about an hour before you turn retarded

It sounds like a shitpost but it's true. In vino veritas. A lot of people are scared of getting drunk and possibly letting their inner selves out.
>>
>>22029522
im afraid to get drunk because im worried ill tell people i jerk off to futa
>>
>>22027947
It's so that white women will impair their standards low enough to breed with white men. Otherwise, whyte pepo will have gone extinct by the year 2000. Unfortunately, whyte zoomzooms have turned away from alcohol and sex. The Great Deprecation of Whyteys is on hand.
>>
>>22027947
It "wakes you up"
If you don't like the usual awful taste of whiskey, beer, gin drink wine...don't drink dry wine
If you want the easy path just drink sweet wines
>>
>>22029543
>easy way
>drinking low abv wine

ok glowie
>>

I have trouble trusting people that don't like drinking. I feel like people like that are usually really controlling and have trouble letting loose but IDK that's just from personal observations. My favorite thing to do is down 3 cans of light beer and chain smoke cigarettes while listening to music. I also like day drinking a lot and doing shotguns is fun as fuck. I will have you know I eat very healthy, exercise and have glowing skin.
>>
>>22029529
by the time you're 30 you'll have lost 99% of your friends anyway so just do it. you have nothing to lose but bad friends. and then you can get some good futa enthusiast friends to replace them.
>>
>>22027947
>temporary retarding effect
that is literally it. anyone who says otherwise is delusional.
>>
>>22030648
>I will have you know I eat very healthy, exercise and have glowing skin.
>drinks tons of alcohol
the 2 cannot coexist.
>>
>>22030887
Sure bro then why are Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, Keith Richards and all those old druggies/alcoholics still alive well in to their 80's in PERFECT HEALTH? Also I am not an alcoholic I drink when I feel like it.
>>
>>22029219
Or they don't want to drink highly addictive poison with harsh side effects. Espescially one that's harmed or killed people they cared about.
