Do you own an air fryer? What do you cook in it?
It's purpose made for single portions of frozen foods, eg. french fries, meatballs, chicken tenders, basically anything you can make in an oven but much faster and crispier.
>>22030664I never understood the point of these. All airfry fags I've come across always says you can cook all sorts of dishes. When I ask them to elaborate, they always say 100% of the time stuff like tendies, or chicken or fries or broccoli and maybe some reheated pizza. I do want to by one but I've put off for years because I see no legitimate reason to own one. I tried searching on youtube for some inspirational airfry recipes but it's just as dead there. So I've come to realize it's for those who doesn't know how to cook at all or are just selective mommy-makes-me tendies-eaters
Yep. I use it mostly for veggies and fish, but every now and then I'll get some frozen snack foods and throw those suckers in there.
>>22030664Mostly chicken but also potatoes and veggies. Pretty useful thing, honestly.
Cinnamon dusted hokkaido chunks
it's quite useless if you have to cook for more than two people
>>22030664I got one as a Christmas gift, with pretty good capacity. I think it's a Gourmia like this, but a larger version. I don't like using my oven, this feels cleaner and faster overall. >>22030675>All airfry fags I've come across always says you can cook all sorts of dishes.Mine came with a cookbook to do more complex shit but I don't really know if I'm ever going to bother with it. For me, it's for coming home drunk and making a few taquitos without worrying about too much mess or waiting for an oven to preheat.
>>22030675>throw in a 'bratwurst' sausage for 6 minutes>after 3 minutes throw a bun in there too>wait 3 minutes, add mustard>get pic related. Walã
>>22030664mom said it was my turn to post the "do you own an air fryer" thread >:(
Its a small oven. Use it like one.
>>22030664Air fryers are great, but those cheap basket fryers are retarded. Get an actual mini convection oven wtih an air fryer sticker slapped over it.
>>22030664chicken nuggets from lidlthe only nuggets that are as tender as the ones from mcdonalds
>>22030664any vegetarian or vegan people who cook for two? air fryers seem a bit useless in this case to me.
>>22030988It's a small oven that heats 200x faster. That's the gimmick and appeal. You're not heating a massive beast for some french fries at 2 AM. You toss them in a little bucket and they're done in 12 minutes. They're not envisioned with "real" cooking in mind at all. You could call it the Microwave 2.
>>22031188When people do the "it's just an oven" thing, just assume they have a low IQ. They literally can't understand different duration tables.
>>22031190For what? What are you taking an air fryer so deeply serious for to merit such a pontificating outburst?
>>22030664a better question: do you CLEAN your air fryer?
This>>22031195 is insecurity
>>22031190it's just an oven, you chud. you have the right to remain upset, but calm.
>>22031230But it functions differently than my oven...
>>22030664I'm relatively new to air fryers and was surprised how well it takes slop like processed chicken patties and makes then pretty decent. Aside from the obvious anything frozen, I've had good experiences with cubing up potato, drizzle a lil bit of oil and cooking it. 16 minutes and comes out pretty good. My only real fuck up so far was thinking I could lay a slice of cheese on a chicken patty with 30 seconds remaining. I opened it up and the cheese disappeared. The slice ripped apart and was everywhere but the patty. Thought cheese had enough weight but guess the fans really go nuts. Oh and porkchops came out decent.
Fried air.
>>22030675They’re good for reheating and doing fast food shit, other than that it’s a waste of time if you own an oven. If you don’t own an oven then it’s an affordable alternative. I’ve seen air fryer recipes but if you own an oven why would you use the air fryer?
>>22031419>it's a waste of time when you own an oven>more efficient and takes way less time to cook similar thingsHuh? I mean I agree it's not strictly necessary, but unless you're cooking for a bunch of people I think air fryers are generally superior for most applications. Much better at reheating leftovers than a microwave too.
They're great for chicken thighs and reheating anything with bread or pizzas
any non Teflon recommendations? also what to cook in one?
pizza toast but with potato buns instead of toast, bonus points if you only layer the bottom buns and fry the top buns along side and then assemble them to a pizzaburger
>>22031960so like a canteen cheesie
>>22032035Does pic related count as a canteen cheesie?
>>22031188Its a small oven with only the convection setting. All it does is fan hot air at whatever is inside which is why most cooklets only use it to warm up frozen shit.
>>22032042kind of yeah just folded in on itself.
>>22030664Stuff that I used to toss in my toaster oven for 20 mins at 400 can take 6 to 8 mins on one of these. I initially tried like 12 to 14 mins and stuff got burnt because I kept underestimating it.I recently moved (and dont even have my old toaster oven or my air fryer). The place im staying was furnished with a kind of crummy toaster/air fryer. The worst part about it is you cant actually set the timer accurately, its a knob that twists and there is no way to know if you accurately set it for however many minutes except 10 or 20. Sure you can estimate 5 by going halfway, but 2, 3, anything like that? Too fine of increments. Very easy to burn toast if I dont keep an eye on it. There is 0 difference in the placebo knob for 'toast, bake, airfry' and only does anything different for 'broil' by heating the top element. At other settings theres a seperate knob for fan speed - low or high. High is air frying it. Even on those settings, this particular unit doesnt heat as fast as the airfryer I bought before I moved.
It's useful for making zero mess hamburger patties
>>22030664I use it for everything
fucking answer my question >>22031203
>>22032680Of course I do. After each use. I really like the tray mine has. Super easy to clean.
>>22030664I use it to bake. Cookies, pies, brownies, cheesecake.... most baked stuff. Also for slow roasting meat. I'm too poor to own an oven.
