Anyone ever have these? What are they like? They look awesome but ive never had one or ever seen one i dont think.
>>
Had one for the first time a few years ago. I was thoroughly unimpressed. The texture is more crunchy than smooth. See the strati in there? The layers? Crunchy. The ice cream itself is clearly artificial vanilla. I would never buy another.
>>
>>22030936
So like hard shell chocolate? Thats yummy
>>
>>22030931
It's mediocre, but not bad. You won't miss anything by not eating it.
>>
They are horrible. Like Twinkies, they only exist as an instrument of witchcraft to harvest negative emotions.
>>
a waste of money desu, at least the supermarket ones
>>
>>22030939
>like hard shell chocolate?
Like the stuff on the outside of a vanilla ice cream bar? Yeah. That waxy poopy stuff.
>>
>>22030961
That's good
>>22030954
I like twinkies sometimes
Im not expecting a delicacy here guys.

Nobody cares about your perversions.
>>
>>22030961
that's the best part! except when you bite into it and a sharp shard shoots up in your nostril
>>
>>22030931
grandma always used to break these out after dinner, lost her last year and this thread reminded me of her
>>
>>22031021
rip viennetta grandma
>>
>>22030931
too grown up :[
>>
>>22030931
cheap ice cream, cheap chocolate. nothing special, it's not a gourmet dessert or anything
>>
>>22030931
>Viennetta
I bet you that most people here have never had one.

They googled it ... found it was British and we all know what happens next.

If it was japanese or italian they would cream their pants over it . . . this is /ck/ in a nutshell.

I do remember this from the 1980s and to be honest, it's not that bad.

Don't knock it until you have tried it.
>>
>>22031063
>I do remember this from the 1980s and to be honest, it's not that bad.
lots of stuff that was good 40 years ago isnt good anymore.
>>

>lots of stuff that was good 40 years ago isnt good anymore.
I guess that's true if you follow fashions like some sort of instagram weirdo.

Anon is deceiving you. They were never good. I remember eating one in the 80's as a fat, gluttonous child and all I could think was "I wish this was Nan's no-brand neopolitan ice cream".
>>
>>22031083
you have never eaten one, nice story though.
>>
>>22031063
>it was British
Fucking and? You do know that it came back to the US in 2021 or so, right? Then promptly dropped off the face of the earth again because, as I said in >>22030936,
>I would never buy another
and clearly, most other people agreed.
>>22031065
Maybe it was good back then. I didn't try it at the time. But the one I had five years ago wasn't great. It's not bad. It's just not worth the $7ish pricetag.
>>
>>22031110
>and clearly, most other people agreed.
BAAAAAHHHH
You know as well as I do that people here just follow the narrative, it's a need to fit in and be edgy.

EWWW The French eat snails, they are yucky and disgusting, yet none of those have eaten them.

EWWW Beans on toast they give me the ick.

Same goes for this thread . . . lots of sheep comments from people who have NEVER tried it but just imagine what it would taste like.

And like I said . . .after they have googled it and found it was British, then it's automatically:
>bland
>boring
>tasteless
>Germans flying overhead
>toured the world for spices but...
>all beige
>britslop
>etc
>etc
>>
>>22030931
these were like crack cocaine in the early 2000 years but they palm oil'd the FUCK out of it so I'm never gonna buy it again
>>
Don't expect a dense ice cream. We bought one once in the 90s after seeing commercials for it on Jeopardy.
It was airy and cheap tasting. A complete disappointment.
>>
>>22031073
No, he meant the quality has gone down. Like they use cheaper ingredients and changed the recipe to save money. Nothing to do with instagram.
Like Dominos pizza was better 40 years ago. I remember.
>>
My aunt used to like them a lot, but she's dead now
>>
>>22031131
Oh. You're still talking about terminally online chantards you'll never actually meet. I pivoted and was talking about real life people in real life living their real lives and not buying Viennetta, the vast, vast, vast, vast, VAST majority of which have no idea it's a British product and dislike it purely because it's just not very good. That's why they, like me, "would never buy another", which explicitly means they've bought one already, tried it, declared it overvalued and ignored it from then on until it went away again.
That's the fact of the matter. It just isn't very good at all. You're basically getting those twelve for $3 "chocolate" coated generic vanilla ice cream bars except inside-out and for over double the price. And I only know this because I drove an elderly neighbour to Aldi Monday because she doesn't drive and wanted to buy ice cream. It would melt on the walk or bus-ride back in 100° weather. She bought two boxes of the cheap ice cream bars I described, offered me one in the car on the drive home and I thought it wasn't bad. It only dawned on me that it tasted like a viennetta after >>22030939 asked for clarification.
And I like British food, btw. I posted food updates of my adventures in Scotland, North England, the Isle of Man and Ireland a number of years ago. Lovely time. Decent food. But Jesus fuck, i had Cajun in Dublin and Mexican in Glasgow and Chinese in Liverpool and each one was meh. I'm convinced that they can't cook foreign cuisines at all.
>>
>>22030931
I will eat an entire one of these by myself. Fucking love ice cream cake.
>>
>>22030931
Those adverts in the 90s are an aristocratic fever dream, and being an aristocrat in waiting I remembered them the other day and bought one.

It tasted like crispy frozen water.
>>
>>22031658
Yes, that fine silver pointy spatula thing cutting through it. I remember chandeliers and maybe butler gloves and fine crystal and cutlery. Classical music? I know they classed it up real fancy-like.

Did you become aristocratic in the end?
>>
>>22030931
When my parents would come home from the store when I was a kid and say they bought ice cream I'd get excited and then see that it was this shit and the excitement would dissipate away rather quickly.
>>
my grandpa used to get these for family dinners. We had to put him down some years ago, nigga was getting too uppity for his age
>>
>>22031651
>i had Cajun in Dublin and Mexican in Glasgow and Chinese in Liverpool and each one was meh. I'm convinced that they can't cook foreign cuisines at all.
Three mediocre meals convinced you of that?
>>
>>22031658
Exact same experience. We never bought one when I was a kid, the advertising put my mum's nose out of joint since she identified as poor working class despite us being thoroughly middle class. Then many years later I went home for a weekend and my dad had bought half a dozen of them because they were selling them off cheap somewhere.
Weird crispy frozen chocolate and very liitle taste.
>>
>>22030931
Post the factory webm
>>
>>22030931
back in the '80s and '90s it was a very enjoyable industrial dessert.
I tried Viennetta recently after a few decades and I was extremely disappointed.
The chocolate layers were very sparse and incredibly thin, and the vanilla ice cream was pretty bland.
>>
>>22030931
it tastes shockingly bland. looks is 10/10 though
>>
>>22030931
shits great
>>
>>22030931
like cheap vanilla ice cream.
>>
OP, I'm sure this has been said before but when I was a kid in the 90's this was marketed as being a luxury item. To me it was, i remember seeing the commercials on tv and thinking wow! I remember my mom only getting it a handful of times and i thought damn we must be rich!! I havent had it since then but i remember it being decent enough?
I didnt even know they still sell this shit but apparently it sucks now?
>>

Overrated but decent. There's also chocolate, pistachio and mango flavors. There was an after eight version, but we can't have nice things, obviously.
>>
The commercial left a strong impression on viewers around the world. However, despite that strong impression, it seems that many people never had the opportunity to actually try the product.
>>
>>22032087
Yes. 0 for 3. That's a 100% failure rate.
>>
>>22031063
It's mediocre in my opinion, as others stated it's just generic vanilla ice cream with crunchy bits of chocolate, but
>If it was japanese or italian they would cream their pants over it
That goes without saying yes, especially Japanese, being mediocre is jerked off

If instant ramen was Western invented it'd be considered poison (it is) and "kusoge"
>>
>>22030931
I buy one like every 10 years and each time I remember why I hadn't bought one for 10 years
>>
>>22031131
I like beans, I like eating snails too. Viennetta I haven't had since I was a kid, but I remember it being kinda bland and really would have prefered just regular ice-cream instead.

You sound like you have some massive inferiority complex issues, limey.
>>
>>22030931
Vianetta expert here. This sucks because it gives a brain freeze.
>OOOOH BUT JUST DON'T EAT IT WHEN IT'S FROZEN DIPSHIT
It melts fast as fuck you idiot.
>>
>>22032992
>>
>>22030931
Bought one two years ago. Looks like a great treat but it had barely any taste. Huge disappointment and I'm usually not very picky when it comes to ice cream.
>>
>>22030931
>ever seen one i dont think
for me, they disappeared off the shelves like 20 years ago? oh my fedora, i am old!!!

well they taste like Sara Lee frozen cakes but more ice creamy. bretty gud. cheaper to just buy a tub of ice cream though.
>>
>>22031658
i forgot the ads. i will youtubes them now.

>>
>>22033096
A few minutes ago you were complaining about "ads", yet you're right here posting them?!
>>
Had some last Christmas, it's cheap crap, but it's childhood crap so I still like them.
Wouldn't buy it though.
>>
>>22030931
I've only had the frozen variety, but that was a very long fucking time ago. I always remember liking it when I was younger, much like the chocolate bavarian.
>>
>>22031021
Yeah same, more than anything I miss the prawn cocktails or when I'd stay over and she'd let me have a Cherry B or Babycham at night while we watched TV.
