I enjoy american cheese on burgers, especially smash burgers. I usually get it sliced at the deli counter for higher quality.
I decided to try and determine which brand is actually the best, from boars head to land o'lakes to store brand like kroger. Just to completely rule out kraft, which I hate, I got some of that as well.

Strictly in terms of the burger itself, the kraft singles blew the others out of the water. It wasn't even close. I don't know how or why, but it was just better than the actual real cheese in every way. I tried them cold and by themselves to make sure I wasn't going insane and they tasted awful and the worst, but melted on the burger completely changes it. It doesn't even taste the same, and it doesn't make sense, it's not even actual cheese unlike the others.

I spent like 30 bucks to prove myself wrong and I'm mad and I don't know how to reconcile it.

Have you tried real cheese? Like Gouda and Cheddar?

They serve their purpose on different burgers. I love a thick steakhouse burger with aged cheddar, red onions, pickles, and mayo for example.
But what I'm looking for is the smash burger that has the secret sauce (thousand island-like), white onion, pickles, and two thin smashed patties. American cheese is really the best cheese there is for that specific burger.

velveeta is also good. they have slices now. I'm pretty sure it's what sonic uses on their cheese tots and in their breakfast burrito. it just has a good melted taste that you dont get from real cheese.

absurd, nonsensical post

You want Big Mac sauce, thousand island is trash.
>>
>>22031479
I know but I was assuming he was non-american and thousand island is a close enough quick comparison.
>>

Thousand Island is nowhere near Big Mac sauce, and that was me, and I’m not American. Do you think Big Macs are exclusive to America?

Newfag didn’t even mention if he got Kraft regular American or Kraft deluxe deli American
Hint: the deluxe one is the actual correct taste.
It’s still not the actual formula of American cheese used in fast food though, sorry chud.

Colour me shocked that the “deluxe” version is better.
>>
>>22031571
kraft singles refers to the not deluxe, since the deluxe doesnt say "singles" on the package, but rather "deluxe". he also said "better than the actual real cheese" which implies it was the pasteurized process cheese (product), rather than the deluxe pastuerized process cheese. lrn2comprehend reading.

Cooper, then Land O Lakes, then Kraft Deli Deluxe or the equivalent store brand. Kraft Deli Deluxe and the "deluxe" store brand are usually close enough not to matter.

>>22031453
Not OP but I'm so over other cheese for cheeseburgers. Maybe in a mornay sauce.

>>22031467
Velveeta is a little gooey-bland for my taste on burgers. Not that I don't or wouldn't. Great in grilled cheese or mac and cheese though.

They're all a tiny bit different, sure. The better retail brands are superior to what's used in fast food anyway.

Thats about all theyre good for

Worked there in the 90's when we had thousand island. Ran out of Mac sauce on a Friday night at 6:30, used the thousand island for the 45 minutes it took to borrow some from another store. Not a single customer said a word.

Aldi's brand is my favorite. I don't eat kraft anymore, they definitely changed their formulas and it's shit

Land o lakes and Horizon are also good American cheeses, never tried cooper
