Here to remind you again, calories are not real and if you believe in them, you're dumb. First of all, "empty calories" are contradictory. A unit of measure cannot randomly be meaningless, like an empty kilometer. It's either consistent, or it isn't.

Secondly the measurement system is stupid to begin with. They used a gizmo called a calorimeter and burn a substance and measure how many degrees the heat of a fire increases and that's where the calorie calculation comes from.

How much energy an apple, when you burn it, raises a fire's temperature has no bearing on the efficiency of human metabolism they are two completely different things.

do not believe nutritionists and their made up bullshit

i'm going to educate you, anon.
a fire requires fuel to raise it's energy output.
you require fuel to raise your energy output.
wild, i know.

maybe you should eat gasoline and charcoal, then. They make good fires.

there is some truth to that. you lose like 30% of the calories from protein while digesting it, less for carbs and even less for fat.

empty calories just means pure energy without much nutrition otherwise. refined starch/sugar/oil are mostly empty calories because they've had most everything stripped away except for the main calorie source.

however you can still reasonably say protein gives the least amount of calories, carbs gives second most, and fat gives the most. eating less will make you lose weight and eating more will make you gain weight regardless of the numbers.
