How should hot dogs be cooked?
>>22034215for indoors preparation it's gotta simmered gently in water and then griddled.for outdoors grilled or open fire roasting is always delicious
>>22034215beer boiled, then grilled for a sear
>>22034215boiled, keep the hotdog water for later use
>>22034233>beer boiled, then grilled for a searI would think something like this ideally.1. A blanching in a spiced/"dirty" water bath for seasoning and juicy moisture infusion inside2. High direct heat via grill/broiler to sear the outside for extra maillard reaction
>>22034215what does an airfried hot dog taste like and what is it's texture like i might try it
>>22034243>keep the hotdog water for later usethis dude drinking hotdog water...
>>22034254it tastes like a fuckin hot dog
>>22034254I think depending on the casing you might be able to get a nice, crisp skin. Raise it up closer to element for a hotter, broiler-like effect and some kind of rack to ensure grease drips off so it can dry and crisp up real good.
>>22034260>He doesn't boil his hotdogs in heirloom forever hotdog water, enjoying the hotdogs of his ancestors

>>22034263this is a good answer im gonna try itquestion do you think that it would add or subtract to the experance if you air fired the bun as welli normally steam my hotdog buns in my bagel steamer i own
>>22034275Fatty suggestion? Put the buns under the dogs so the grease drips on them. Crispy dogs and greasy buns.
i like a steam/pan fry deal. i put a strainer with the buns in it over the pan so as the water evaporates the hotdog steam infuses the buns. if you stick your head over the steam and take a whiff, youll get what imean.
>>22034215Just microwave it. No need to try and impress pretentious foodies.
>>22034280make sure you hear a POP otherwise the hot dog is undercooked and unsafe!!!

>>22034292by the looks of it, I don’t think you can
Anything that isn't "boiled in water" is more correct than "boiled in water"

>>22034215>>22034225I have never understood why anyone simmers sausages or hotdogs.
>>22034215You don't need to cook them. They're already cooked
>>22034215Deep fried, Jersey style. Top with fried peppers onions and potatoes on an Italian roll with mustard
>>22034215They should not be cooked, because they should not be eaten, because they are bad for you.
>>22034347cooks them through while leeching excess grease and salt from the frankfurter, softens the casing which makes it perfect for browning on a griddle or skillet, and since it's heated through already the browning process is quick and you aren't waiting around to inefficiently heat the dog through when really you just want some mallard reaction

>>22034233what beer do you use?
>>22034243What can you use hotdog broth for?
>>22034328I miss the heck out of this thing at my local convenience store. They used to have a separate steamer for the buns. Best hotdogs I've eaten.
>>22034243>>22034260
They're already cooked, and just need to be reheated, that's why you cram until they are at body temperature.
>>22034370>frankfurterWrong thread, dipshit.
>>22034575I've double checked and seems to be the right thread

>>22034247>mallard reaction
>>22034215baked is the best but theres very little reason to heat hot dogs if you arent grilling and hot dogs are stupid easy on the grill to varying levels of doneness
>>22034215grilled.if no grill is available, baked in the oven.
>>22034328
>>22034384Deep fried or griddled, yes. Italian hot dogs are amazing, trust me
>>22034319Kek.
"Air frying" is roasting And I get triggered when it gets classified as it's own thingThey're just small batch convection ovens
>>22034322'ick on 'og
>>22034215They should be cooked on how, you personally, prefer them. It's that simple.
>>22034283>>22034286Slow cooker is really for Lil Smokies, which are really just tiny hot dogs. God damn are they good in a bbq sauce or a fruit preserve (add a little vinegar to it). Depending on the size of you pot & the poundage, you run the slow cooker for 1-2 hours high, 3-4 low to get reheated weenies. Features at pot lucks and other events. You can also do hot dogs I guess - that is essentially equivalent to what street vendors and ballparks do. They essentially have hot dogs in a Keep Warm type of state which is like a crock pot. I've never done this as you kinda need the big crock pot for it, and that is a LOT of hot dogs for one person in one sitting.
>>22035253Except they aren't, air fryers go way faster than ovens, and you are supposed to coat things in oil prior to frying to get the "fry" effect. Plus it flings the wet air outside the device, ovens don't even bother unless it's to adjust the temp inside. And you won't convince me otherwise, I have already proven frozen potatoes are infinitely better out of the air fryer than out of the oven with all the available fry types. I am done with soggy oven fries, you can get triggered all you want.
>>22034416boiling more hot dogs
>>22034215definitely the air fryer.
>>22036001I like my dongs with some color, damn near midnight. you think I can pull it off with an air fryer?
>>22036016yes un frahiér du l'air will do that
>>22035920Does your oven have a convect setting?Probably does, most do and nobody even knows it

>>22036016easytheres this package of sausages i buy for $5~ and it's about 2lbs, you have to separate the links by cutting them, then score the skin and airfry at 400ºF, turning every couple minutes. since you want the dark skin you have to watch it, chrissy
