what's the best value gin and the best value tonic?any combos you recommend for a gin and tonic?
>>22038159Beefeater is only 40% now
Imagine being the British guy who came up with Gin. You're drunk on moonshine and decide to add a bunch of random sticks and shit.
>>22038187How much was it before?
>>22038191it days 47% right in the OP image dipshit
>>22038191In the US it used to be 47% like in OP's image, then it was dropped to 44% and now it's 40%. I think in the UK it's always been 40%.
>>22038194Tanqueray and Bombay Sapphire are still 47% in the US at least.
>>22038192>>22038194Weird, wonder why would they do that
>>22038200If I had to guess it's to sell it in grocery stores in markets like California.
>>22038200The more you water something down the more you can produce for the same amount of money, so it's cheaper.
>>22038190the brits didn't really come up with it. it was actually considered a weird foreign craze at first and faced legal issues. it was adapted from earlier juniper spirits like jenever from the Netherlandsit was even the subject of derisive caricatures, like this image of Virgin Gin Consoomers vs Chad Beer Appreciators
>>22038203no shit Sherlock. it was a rhetorical question.
>>22038203Yeah I guess that make sense...I had some Beefeater 2 weeks ago, didn't even notice, but I'm not much of a drinker.>>22038202Yeah but why do it in Europe as well, I'm seeing online that the Premium bottle is 45%.>>22038205It wasn't rhetorical
>>22038211>Yeah but why do it in Europe as well, I'm seeing online that the Premium bottle is 45%.IIRC there's some kind of tax issue regarding higher proof spirits.
>>22038211>Yeah but why do it in Europe as wellA lot of Europe has an alcohol tax, so higher ABV spririts are taxed more

>>220381598 oz Gin with half a limon squeezed and an egg yokeShake in drink mixer with ice till chilledpour into gobletpour in 1 can of limoncello sparkling waterenjoy
>>22038159the patricians choice coming through
my frens say bombay saphire is for le rich, and shweps tonic to go with it. but wait, there's more. uk's lime vs spai and others lemon to go with it
>>22039406*vs spain
Are premium tonics really worth it or is Schweppes okay? The tiny glass bottles always seemed like a scam to me
to me, what really "makes" a better tonic, is diluting the mix with a bit of water, because let's be honest the gin tastes like ass
>>22039421*a better gintonic
herbs like rosemary, mint, or basil. garnishes like cucumber, orange, lemon, lime, or a twist of any.flavorings like citrus fruit juices, liqeuers, bitters, vermouth.i like mine either styled like a gin mojito, or spanish style with orange bitters and peppercorns
>>22038204>tfw you don't live on gin street with chicks titties hanging out and having sick fights in the streets and sharing bones with your doggo
>>22039418My favourite one is Schweppes indian tonic and you can get that for $1.80 for 1L when it's on special.I've used Aldi tonic and added a splash of lemon juice, it doesn't have the orange hint but it's fine for what it costs.
>>22038159ended up buying beefeater and schweppesI like it 1:1 though. more tonic kills the gin flavor. maybe tanquaray or gordon's would be better for higher tonic ratios as I think they are more in your face with the juniper?
>>22038159Went down to Cornwall recently and they've some excellent local gins there, a bit dear howeverIf you want high value it used to be Bombay Sapphire before they watered it down, now it's the Icelandic one that was on sale at Waitrose recently
>>22038159People like this gin but I think juniper is absolute medicinal dogshit.
>>22039855Gin=crapWHEN IT COMERS TO TASTEThey're stuck on that juniper, they can shove a whole juniper tree up their ass, it sucks.
gordon's and diet tonic water with a lemon heel
>>22040443*great value diet tonic water I mean
