Do you eat traditional British foods like cake, which was invented and refined in Britain?
Cake actually sucks and pretty much every person I've ever talked to irl about cake vs any other dessert agrees. So no I don't eat your retarded backwards cuisine that is stuck 400 years in the past
>>22038586I keep thinking of making an eton mess but never actually do it, is it worth the effort?
>>22038590a lot of cakes are dry and overly sweet. a properly made cake is good.
>>22038586Did the British invent sour cakes?
>>22038586>every person I've ever talked to irlSo - nobody then?
>>22038586YEYYYYYRock cakes, I think Aussies eat them too.
I'm not a desserts and sweet guy but one time in the UK I was served homemade butter bread pudding and it was insanely good.
UK my ass.
>>22039571Black Forest gateau is indeed German and very nice it is too.
>>22039623Most advanced cakes are German or French.
>>22039638>Most advanced cakes are German or French.Of course they are . . .this is /ck/ and nobody here would ever admit to anything from Britain being good.
>>22039182Don't do that anon, you'll make a mess
>>22039641i like victoria sponge cake
>>22039182It's just berries, cream and meringue slapped together
>>22039182>>22039838Maybe a bit of jam mixed with the cream but that's about it . . . .it's not difficult and don't be shy of using supermarket meringue(broken up).Served cold on a warm summer evening, it's quite nice.
>>22038586Love a Victoria Sponge
>>22038590A good cake is delicious, you have shit taste and tag along with friends who have shit taste. You can just say "I hate british people" which is what you're getting at, nobody's going to do anything.
>>22038590>400 years in the pastTry 1400 years. Cakes are German, the word is Germannic in origin. Brought to the UK by the Vikings.>>22039571Is correct. See you guys in the beef Wellington thread (it's French).
>>22039901Up until the 1400s 'cakes' were just sweetened breads. Up until the victoria sponge, sponge cakes were made by whipping airated eggs and sugar. The UK invented baking powder and self raising flour that allowed for richer buttery cakes and easier mass production. Most cakes you'll find in the supermarket evolved from this.
